mandelbrot test render - 1e104
High-quality render of a shader I wrote last week, leading up to a minibrot at around 1e100 with a period of around 650000. That shader can actually render this zoom in real time; here however I've rendered this with 32 samples per pixel and slightly different colors to get much sharper results.
There's still quite a lot of visible artifacts, and this could've of course all been done pretty easily with already existing software, but still, I found it an interesting project to work on nonetheless. And who knows, maybe I'll be able to improve it even more eventually.
The shader this is based on: www.shadertoy.com/view/NtKXRy

Hahaha this is awesome!
One of my favorite zooms. It actually shows the structure. Thank you!
How do you zoom without a mouse? Edit: I like your zoom musics.

A paranormal minibrot zoom😱😱😱
wow this is such a satisfying tool. i've been messing around with it for the past 30 minutes and i literally can't get enough of it lol. love the work :)
Dude I found your fractal pathtracer thing when searching for stuff on the Buddhabrot, and then noticed you also play Marble Marcher and subscribed to Michael0884 It's a small world, I know him on the Marble Marcher Discord!
wow
raytrace the world please
Cool
That water looks pretty good mate! Hope I can watch the next video soon :)
The water looks amazing, the only thing that might be better is that the reflections seem to slide slowly to the right of the screen even when you are not moving. unless the sun is booking it across the sky it would make sense to have the reflection hold still if the camera is holding still. ya know? otherwise it looks super cool.
Thanks :D I know it doesn't make much sense, but I feel like it looks better when the reflection isn't static - because it doesn't look good in all positions, and it would be a little wierd if it was stuck in a bad position forever. I could slow down the speed a little more though.
@@peabrainiac6370 Yeah I guess I haven't seen it holding still. maybe it can slide back and forth? I don't know, I'm sure you will end up with something great though. You usually do. :)
Hi! I just learned about your channel on Jonas' video! As a lower level programmer myself, I absolutely loved your videos! It would be awesome it you could go a bit more in-depth in the technicalities of it! :) Unfortunately, my channel didn't make it to his video. :( All the best!
What type of game are you making overall? Is it just a sandbox game?
It's going to be a simulation / colony building game if it all works out. I'm currently only working on the sandbox part though. I'll start working on the gameplay once I finish the whole physics system.
This reminds me a lot of the alien entity in Annihilation. I've always wondered how they got that look
As far as I know, they used a mandelbulb for that. That's basically a 3d version of the mandelbrot set. Changing the power of the fractal over time then gave them this fluent animation.
@@peabrainiac6370 Time to go down the rabbit hole... thx for da knawledge
Great!
Very cool!
Thanks :D
Weird, wasd doesn't seem to work on my computer, I am using chrome btw
That's wierd, it works for me on both chrome and firefox. Did you click on the image before pressing the keys? I'm only listening for events on the canvas element itself, to avoid interference with other parts of the page.
@@peabrainiac6370 yes I did click, it started working after I reopened the chrome tab, I guess it's just a bug in chrome itself
Loved the technical breakdown of the frame buffer! Also, the subtitles were really helpful! The problem is not so much your pronunciation, but more the quality of your mic ;) If it doesn't impede too much on your workflow, I think it's a good idea to have them in your future videos until the audio quality gets better! Keep it up!
Btw, since my pronunciation of different words can be quite terrible at times, I added english subtitles to the video this time - let me know if that's a thing you also want me to do in future videos.
Cool but could you fix the static?
What exactly do you mean by that?
@@peabrainiac6370 There is a bit of a static sound every couple of seconds, I will try and watch it again to see if it is a me problem though. Edit: It definetly isn't my headset as I just watched a different video. It is the most prominent in the first 20 ish seconds. Try and see if you can hear it.
Dude, I'm intrigued,keep it up.
Good update :D It's pretty cool that the items get bigger if they have more kg!
Keep it up, interesting project :)
That's a good update and a lot of buttons! :D Nebenbei, habe mir gerade deine Profilinformation angesehen.

devintely geting oxygen not included vibes
Good game & video! Saw in your reply to Leet Game which type of game this is - I love games that works in this way!! Subbed. Waiting for your next update :)
nice. what is the type of this game?
It'll be a sandbox game where you try to build and sustain a colony, and manage things like oxygen and food supply. Oxygen Not Included is pretty similar to what I'm trying to do, if you've ever played that.
@@peabrainiac6370 I haven't played that game. but looks fun. :)
Cool
Thanks :D
kewl
That sounds like a really complicated thing to do... Good luck :)
Very nice! Keep up the good work
game looks interesting and this is some quality content ;) subbed
Nice devlog, but what are your goals with this sandbox framework? What will be the purpose of the gas pressure, components, etc? And why did you choose java over i.e. C++? Keep it up, I'm very curious what will this evolve into. :)
I'm not totally sure yet what this game will end up beeing, but it will probably be something along the lines of oxygen not included, if you've ever played that. So the goal will be to build and sustain a colony in a rather hostile enviroment where you have to take care of oxygen production, food supply etc. yourself. I chose java to do this simply because it's the language I'm most comfortable with, and also because it is platform-independent. Thanks for you interest, and have a nice day :)
@@peabrainiac6370 Oh , I see, keep up the good work! :)
