@HydraulicSandwich i think its to differentiate their sounds. if you listen closely, hiroyukis clave is slightly higher than akiras. just a thought. i may be wrong

at 3:00 it shows akiras clave and its black? any one know why? he aalways used to use red (medium) jam block.
