Roocroft has such a beautiful voice. However, these days one rarely hears about her. Such a pity as she's a wonderful musician.

This is a really nice recording. It's so good to hear this again . Sylvia McNair is a fine singer. She always has been.. I think I have the album that this recording comes from: "Love's sweet surrender". Sylvia McNair recorded this CD of Mozart arias - operatic arias (arias from "The Marriage of Figaro", "il re pastore", "Abduction from the Seraglio", and "The Magic Flute"), several concert arias, and a couple of insertion/substitution arias.

It is to be hoped that wonderful voices such as Ms Stutzmann's will bring back the true contralto voice into the operatic repertoire. I am old enough to remember when agents,theatres and vocal coaches encouraged the contralto sound. Now, managements,agents and recording companies(generally) don't seem to know what to make of such voices.They either ignore them completely, or(worse) put them into the completely wrong roles. Let us hope that thanks to artists such as Ms Stutzman this will change.

She is really gifted contralto !! I love her voice. In addition, I heard this aria sung by countertenors(Andreas Scholl and David DQ. Lee). So compare with their voice, I prefer female singers because they really sing with a powerful voice.
