this film is so intense you feel empathy for everyone . this film shows you 'mans inhumanity to man' all those lives 'blown up' then a terrible slow death ... for those remaining. shivering cold in 'shock' then drowning .. pure evil genocide ... anything changed ??????????????????, .

I had not seen this one. Great movie.

When irradiated gorilla-chickens Bahcocked the earth. Why did most of these 50's scifi schlock movies use a gorilla of some form as a monster? A kind, intelligent and benevolent creature, Even the illusive gorilla like Bigfoot is made out to be the same.

I've seen this several times (like many) the boats scenes were great for their day but don't look quite so good today. Great story and I suspect it won't be the last time I watch this great movie.

I’m so glad l’m 76 and all that angst is in the past. Count the years of true,pure happiness in a relationship,or even days, and you wonder why the hell you put yourself through all that. They only die in the end which is worse still. Good film if you like pain and misery which we all did in the early 60’s

As Roger Ebert said, the supposedly historical basis for this movie was "balderdash". The acting was gawd-awful. The phony, clumsy plot dynamics risible. The "love affair" between the ugly old spy/general and the hardly-even-pretty Italian spy/singer had no sexual chemistry whatsoever. Besides, she couldn't sing worth shit. The costuming/hairstyles of the women were pure 1958 and the music was awful, awful, awful. Now can ANYBODY explain to me why Rotten Tomatoes gave this piece of crap 100%?!?!?

General Schottland's (Jack Hawkins) voice is remarkably similar to Claude Rains'.

A most enjoyable and refreshing film.

Good movie. The video transfer on my computer makes all the actors eyes look Asian. Weird.

All the Roger Corman traits are there… the shallow dialogue delivery by stiff actors, California standing in for the ‘world’, the classic drive-in movie junk-snack feel.

God Bless the German sailors who met their deaths on the Bismarck. All sailors, of all nations, are equal upon the sea. A note about this movie - both the Bismarck AND the Royal Navy made every effort to pick up survivors after action, even though it is not depicted here. The same was true of the Graf Spee.
