l feel _terrible_ for poor Yuri Soloviev. l believe he suffered so much because of the pressure from the KGB. Weather his death had anything to do with it ...l dont know, but its known that he never joined the communist party. Good on him for sticking to his conviction. Amazing dancer too! I was privileged to see him dance three times in London in the late 70s; once was with Dame Margot Fonteyn after she had retired; it was not advertised - it was a surprise performance and I just happened to be there!....They danced La Spectre de la Rose, and one of my deep desires was granted: to see them dance together. The feeling of power when he hit the stage was palpable, like a magic that flowed from him over the entire audience. He was utterly special, no doubt about it. I feel so fortunate to have seen him dance in person.

I have to wonder if any people around him were trying to get him to slow down.... the average designer does two shows a year.... maybe some do 4 .... what he was up to 30 shows in one year.... that's insanity... being driven and doing cocaine.... what was the point if he couldn't enjoy any of his success sit back and relax . He had made it to the top , why couldn't he start to take vacations ?
