THE TEXTURE OF CREATION (Royal Holloway recording) by Dan Locklair
THE TEXTURE OF CREATION (for double SATB chorus, brass quintet, organ and timpani) was composed in 1983 for the Inauguration that year of Thomas K. Hearn, Jr. as the Twelfth President of Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, North Carolina (the school where I am Composer-in-Residence and Professor of Music). The text, by former Wake Forest University staff member, Martha W. Lentz, was specifically created for THE TEXTURE OF CREATION.

Just as such a milestone anniversary as this reflects multiple centuries, so, too, the words set in this anthem come from an older time and ev...

PAGEANT FOR SALLY for organ by Dan Locklair

PAGEANT FOR SALLY for organ was the result of a 1975 commission from Mr. & Mrs. Charles Griffiths of Binghamton, New York for the wedding that same year of their daughter, Sally Griffiths. It is one of my earliest organ works. After a free and improvisatory introduction, which hints at the main processional melody of the piece, the vibrant processional section of the piece appears. Reflecting b...

SPRECKELS’ FANCY (A Festive Piece for Organ) by Dan Locklair
Very nice! One of my favourite works by Sir Locklair! Sadly at my place, his scores are incredibly hard to get ones hands on
I am so thankful to have heard the Summer movement on our WDAV. Simply lovely. Thank you.
This is one of my favorite contemporary solo pieces for harpsichord.
Very sweet woman. Venerable. But this is way too fast to be a March
Spent the last ten minutes crying like a baby… BEAUTIFUL!
Warning: It’ll make you cry
Thank you for this.
Thank you for sharing this. Truly beautiful.
Wonderful!
Played this in high school 💯🤞🏽

Wow
Loved it!
Love it. Exciting!
Dan Locklair's music is always soulful, whether it's choral, organ, or any genre. His musicianship is impeccable.
Gorgeous! 9:48 9:48 bI especially loved the contrast of the 2 instruments. The cello’s sustaining type melody against the running left hand bass in the piano. Lovely.
every minute of that was enjoyable, absolutely love it mate !

Gorgeous work. Meditative. Introspective. Atmospheric. Unaffected. Evocative. Definitely a work I'll be listening once and again throughout the years
Beautiful piece, but unfortunately difficult to read due to format and low quality.
And her warfare now is over! What a beautiful representation of that peace with one of the most well written B major cords…ever! 1:33
Beautiful piece! Nice discovery :)
Are there multiple versions of this piece where the double dotting on certain notes is and isn't there? This organist seems to be adding in double dotting when it isn't written in....just curious.
No, only one version. Some take an over-dotting liberty, but the notation in the music is correct.
What is the name of background song/sound?
Lyrical and deeply reverential
Dan, I always find your compositions fascinating and captivating to listen and witness. I am in awe of another who treasures the organ to the extent in which I do, and someone who finely weaves the delicate characteristics of sound together into exquisite and masterful works. Thank you for sharing so many lovely works with the connoisseurs of the great crossroads of choral and organ art. - Hans
Thank you so much!

Love this.
I'm one of the boy trebles on this recording! It was an absolute blast to sing... that high A#! oof! I still remember every note.
How wonderful and thank you so much for telling me! What a memorable week that was (and the high A# would have certainly made it so for you and the other trebles)!
love it!
Incredible!🤩
Just heard this in Sirius xm. First time I've heard of this composer. I liked enough to come here.

This is wonderful
The essence of bliss is evoked in EVERY moment of this piece of pure art… My heart was absolutely moved beyond words with this exquisitely tender and gorgeous composition, and I was truly brought to heaven and back again and again. It would not be possible to fully express the profound effect this masterpiece had upon me. Dan, I thank you, in lieu of concocting this finest masterpiece. Blessings, Hans
With deepest gratitude, Hans. Dan Locklair
Ah ha! Very nice.
Gorgeous trumpet tone and effortless flexibility!
I heard one of the very first performances (I believe the 2nd ever) with Robert Moody and the Portland Symphony. It opened his inaugural concert and left the audience cheering. I was weeping from the sheer beauty of it. It was followed by a blazing performance of the Mahler 1st - but all we were talking about afterwards was "PHOENIX." How wonderful when something so new has that power!
Thank you for your kind words and beautiful reflections on that concert in Maine. Maestro Moody has championed PHOENIX and always performs it brilliantly.
Wonderful orchestral music, featuring stately, noble, triumphant, uplifting passages !!
Thank you so much.
@@danlocklair3092 My pleasure, Dan, great to discover your music !
