How to change Yamaha F300 timing belt
Просмотров 18 тыс.2 года назад
We have a timing belt on a f300 Yamaha have questions feel free to contact us for help.
Do you have a trick for mercury 75 four stroke efi? I think my timing chain is off but the camshaft doesn’t have notches. It has a pin that I’m supposed to line up at 90clock but it’s a lot less telling than the notches in these verado
bro you didnt show the important part.
How so please explain.
@newagerepairs3392 when was the timing chane adjusted?
I’m a master tech for mercury for legal reasons I can’t show how I did it. I explained it. Not hard to do.
Hello Thanks for the video. Just so I'm clear on what i didn't see, you aligned the cam shaft poinerts at the sprocket end of the cam with the center of the colored links while aligning the fly wheel pointer and cam slots on top? Also , there are with dropping the chain.
Had a look at your video, and did same procedure to mine, the intake cam was out by one link . Took me about 4 hours and it sounds just great. The Mercury Dealer quoted me $4800 to fix it and recommended that I not bother with an old engine(2006)
So glad I could help you.
Hi, i have verado 300 supercharged. I was wondering is supercharger oil separate from engine oil or both are the same?
Same oil
@@newagerepairs3392 thank you, so no need to change the supercharger oil same as car, correct?
I have one of the same that will not start unless its full throttle and will not idle, replace spark plugs, the two round rubber boots on the left side between the throttle body, I get 47 PSI fuel pressure, 110 PSI on all piston, replace water Seperator. Check Air idle sensor on top with the little boot ok and wiring to ecm ok. Still no go. any help would be appreciated. Great Video
Wow! This was exactly what I needed. Keep it up guys!
can you show how to easy is install a new tensioner?
Yes I will make a video
If time was off a tooth would that cause the engine to not start but just keep turning over and over after replacing the belt
No but it could foul spark plugs
what a crap video! Doesnt even show adjusting the camshaft back. we watched for that info and you dont even show it? WTF applies! how stupid!
I show you how to time it. It’s obvious that you have to take both cams off and put them back on the right way into time. This is a job that a professional should be doing.
Why did you change the tensioner? Quite an expense part to replace if its not necessary?
My verado runs rough on idle and dies when I sensitive throttle up. When I throttle up faster it runs great to running speed and to wot great, after that I go to idle, runs for 5 seconds, then dies. I checked all but now I am suspecting that it could jumped one teeth. Could this be my sympthom? Maybe to change chain and tensioner? I have 1200 hours. Thanks for advices
It sounds about right. If you have any questions, you can contact me at 786-283-1472.
good afternoon Yamaha 450, do you happen to know where the marks on the block are, I can’t figure it out?
Buena puesta a punto buena sincronisacion
Port side cams are a tooth off
My STBD engines STBD cams appeared the same when I was done. If there is zero slop in the belt, and if the index marks on the belt (all 5 marks) are exactly right, you MAY appear to have the cam-to-cam marks a tiny bit off. Like one half to one tooth. This is what happened to mine. So I removed the belt and started over from scratch. Same result. I started at the crank and used the belt guide to hold the belt tight to the crank. And then proceeded with the cams and followers. I was so nervous that I had screwed it up that I spun the engine over multiple times with no issue. Started it right up and it's fine. The engines have matched RPM with matching throttle positions, exactly as they did before I did the belt irrespective of power settings. If the timing was off, that would not be the case. So I'm pretty sure that he's got this fine. There is only one way to get that belt on and to have the BELT marks match the CAM marks. IOW, if you insist on the cam marks lining up perfectly then one of the belt marks will be off. I elected to ensure the marks on the belts aligned with the outer marks on the cams and accepted a tiny cam to cam differential. I'll do my PORT engine next and I am going to go berserk with the marks. I'll prob photo them at TDC and may even add witness tape IF the cam-to-cam marks are not perfectly lined up.
I have 628 hrs , mine looks like 5 out of time, no compression. Can i slip out the chain to replace or just slide off the cam to reset timing?
Yes you can.
Where you put the water hose is only to flush? My manual says to not run the motor with the hose hooked in that location? Or is it okay to use? I’m confused. Good video!

How many hours should the belt be changed
1000 hours

But you didn't show how to make timing
I’m guessing you mean put it in time? And yes I do if that’s the question.
After releasing tensioner, did you have to turn the out of time camshaft to line up notches? did you have to remove the chain off the the sprocket to do so?
Yes you move the chain and rotate the cam till you get it back in time. Make sure you replace the tensioner.
How about a more complete video from start to finish ?
To get to the point where the video started is basic removal of the covers and flywheel.
Thank you
You say by the book it is supposed to take a couple hours... what book are you referring to? Always wondered how they estimate hours for a job...
Would this be the same procedure for a 2013 Yamaha 250 S.H.O. VF250 LA?????.
If the SHO is 4.2 yes it’s the same.
I don't understand why you removed the tensioner. And then you replaced it with a new one or did you just reinstall the old one? Please explain.
The tensioner was bad, so we replaced it. It's easier to install the new belt with the tensioner removed; If you'd like, I can post a video showcasing how.
Yes I agree tensioners need to be replaced with belt and idler pulleys also to me . Just as a precautionary . If they seize it is a interference engine . Meaning valves will contact piston if not of time
@@cheetoz6902 Precautionary? Why not just put in a new ECU while you're in there then. Sorry, I'm not going to start slapping new parts in there just because they have 850 hours on them.
An ECU doesn’t have bearings that can fail.
@@edwarddougherty6552 What does Yamaha say in their manuals about when to replace the tensioner? ZERO. Two new tensioners is about 1300 bucks. I'll be re-using mine.
