Thanks for a very clear and understandable explanation! I needed to build a "generic reference design" reverse-polarity protection modular circuit (to be optimized later) that is understandable to me and most importantly, understandable to my client. This fits the bill beautifully, and lets me explain to the customer what is going on, and allows the engineer who will create and optimize the "real" circuit for production to see exactly what the module he is replacing is doing and why. @Electronic Component Great effort, What are the 8 pin equivalent of CD4017? 16 pins are too much for my project

show me where you can do a circuit simulation using the 4060 component, the answer is you can't which defeats the purpose of a simulator

pin 16 and 8 are also missing which are the feed pins if you want to make a printed circuit out of the schematic the missing pins make that very difficult. you expect this on low cost simulators but with the price tag that over 4 thousand dollars the components should be complete, or a least multisim should at least let you know that not all components are complete

What if i connect the zener diode in place of R1 in reverse. Will it allow current to flow through the circuit only after reaching breakdown voltage?

What does vref exactly do?

You say the load here is getting 1.3A with 13.9V from 15Vdd. But the Mosfet rating on the ZVP2106A is only "Id - Continuous Drain Current: 280 mA" Doesn't that make the mosfet underrated for such a large current draw?? Please correct me if I am wrong.

The ZVP2106A has a Vgs of +-20V... shouldn't that suffice without using the zener/resistor if V1 does not exceed 15V?
