My channel has wide a variety of different things , Please enjoy .
As you can see it has travel , construction which I had worked on , new construction in Auckland with rail and numerous other things which I have Done Gone to and Been on over the years .
Some of the older video's go back to 1992 and now to the present Day .
Some of the videos also are ones I have found and collected of different TV channels , after viewing and then downloaded/recorded as I enjoyed them and hoping others would also .
My Profile Picture is DA1103 from a rail excursion I did in the mid sixties to a place called Kaikohe before they uplifted the Rail lines and the engine was a DA class locomotive . And the reason why there are a lot of train travel videos is because I have always lied that sort of travel since I was around 5 when I was given a Hornby Clockwork Model trainset as a Christmas present .

Western Line Works Pt2 , 11-12 /1/2025 .
With the almost completion of the Track works on the NAL/Western Line , showing the Cross over between Fruiltvale Rd and Glen Eden , the new Points South of Henderson Station and North of AT's Stabling Yards , then North of Henderson Station the repairs to a Mud spot and Finally the Road crossing at Ranui which needed major repairs to it .
And I caught the Track crew craning in track panels through the Catenary Wires which were spreed to allow them to come through .
The line will be the 1st to open to allow the freight trains to travel between Auckland and Whangarei .

Henderson has a wang mart? Who knew? How cosmopolitan!
this is awesome
And also they said it was going to be live streamed on Facebook .
great video, good to see some work being done. Auckland is so over having there trains down all the time. Now Kiwirail have to have all this work done by 2026.
The Biggest problem was Nobody wanted to front up with the money to do the Works , and now if it was a pothole on the road outside your Home they would have someone with their cones come and fix it sooner than what they have done to the lines . And what I have seen around the Network this is not a 4hr overnight job , which some out there think it should be .
yes the Auckland rail network was run down over many decades, and now there's a huge catch-up happening.
@@davidlipscombe916 thankyou for your comments, you are so right, I always new that the work would take a long time to get done, such a big job to undertake.
Strangely enough all this area was my playground, especially the track and the hospital back to Mangere east station, and the back of railway workshops ha ha ha😅😅😅,
And if you did that Today the whole network would be closed down and they will have the Cops looking for You .
Excellent great to see the work going on and the 3rd mainline well on the way to completion
I got a bit of shock when I saw what they had done not expecting how deep they had gone and distance they had gone , and with the shut down it gives them the opportunity without any movements to get things done without holdups .
Exciting to see some things happening in Auckland. however, while we’re busy taking 30 years to build less than 15 kilometres of rail, we have to watch hopelessly as cities our size build 20x more… in probably half the time.
It may take longer as there are those readying to try and stop it , I think they are called nimby's or words to that effect .
@ we just want to get SOMETHING built right?!🤣
It better not mysteriously waste $360,000,000 with nothing to show like the rail initiative under the arden labour governement (would love to know whose pockets those millions went into!) Also wondering if it will run during long weekends.
They are called over Priced Consultants , Bring back the Ministry of Works and keep in House .
These are the new GSH's.
They better not ditch this project and another few billion dollars, we've already wasted a few chunk on Defunct projects like the light rail and Three Waters. They could also use the Southern, CRL, Western and this route as a circle line.
Avondale-Southdown Link once built, will quadruple the capacity of Auckland's metro rail network but also will allow increase of regional/inter-regional passenger train services, passing through the Auckland region.
There will be a new line from Henderson to Onehinga via Grafton and Newmarket and if they have it running in opposite directions it would be the ideal system .
NAL is not going to survive with trains of five or six wagons, that's what happens when you take 18 months to repair it, customers disappear.
In the 1st weeks they were taking empty container wagons up and bringing back 15 wagons from the cement works , and hopefully after the shutdown that continue and possibly Mainfreight will get on the bandwagon too , and possibly logs to Tauranga also .
Interesting about that DC
They may have taken it up there before the Auckland network closes as a backup , possibly .
Great to see freight back on the NAL
It sure is!
If had designed Huntley station like it was before removal, we wouldn’t have the ridiculous scenario we saw with the light loco having to wait for Te Huia to pass. NZ inefficiency at its best.
Usually hey may stop further down , but with the late running Te Huia sort of stuffed it up . What they should have done is run it down slowly under a Orange signal for when the Te Uia had pulled into the passenger/station line , have seen that with a freight some time ago .
Thank you for sharing. 👍
No problem 👍 And there was not a drop of Rain when I captured it .
Getting there 😮
The trouble is after Monday it was only Fonterra containers on boardand each train was shorter after Tuesday . But hopefully after the Xmas break it will pick up again .
@davidlipscombe916 yes hopefully...
Nice 🙂👍
Thank you! Cheers!
cool i he3lped steam up the steam tram up there
And I bet in the next 5 days, it will be vandalised, for sure.
The one they did in the middle of the Triangle has been tagged since it was painted a number of weeks back and you can see two sides that have been attacked from the Westernbound train .
Fortunately it is now NOT going to be tolled.
And the Simpleton in his news item was almost crying when he made the annoucement .
What an odd video.
Why Odd ? it shows it coming into and going from the abandon Wellsford Station .
@@davidlipscombe916 Odd because most of the video shows the train motionless.
@@gibbogle Because I had a drunk rabbiting on next to me when the drivers were changing over and the Auckland drivers were lat getting there . The Handover took around 30mins from time of arrival to Time of departure . And I could have played the full 30plus minutes and as most out only watch about 20seconds of most video's .
@@davidlipscombe916 That would have been like an Andy Warhol video.
Awesome just great to see Rail in Operation North of Auckland !!
Yes indeed! , And glad you enjoyed it .
Thank you for sharing. 🚂🙂👍
No problem 👍
Awesome, thx for that. Good to see a decent sized train ...duh, who'd have thought maybe, just maybe, GB Cement might become the NAL anchor customer ...hope they're going to keep up those volumes, although wonder if they send empty containers north on 120.
And how many trucks did they take off the Road , as my way up there are still to many trucks I passed with Box Containers still on the trailers . Hopefully those also come Down by Rail .
@@davidlipscombe916 Kiwirail ruined local routes and focuses on town/regional services meaning trucks still have to cart stuff for a simple trip around Auckland/Hamilton because they don't do localised shunts.
@@joshuahill6153 Then what are the ones for Coke and Mainfreight ? I was talking about intercity container traffic mainly when they close the link to Whangarei , after each Slip .
Great catch 🚂🙂👍
And at 1.25am for the last one it was , and I missed the nights before as I was too tired with my trip South .
Is it me or did they upgrade the headlights?
I will have ask someone in the Know , but possibly like everything now they could be LED's not incandescent lights like they use to have .
What on earth was that near the end 😳
If it is the Yellow Cradle on the Container Wagon it is used for when they Shunt a long Rake of Wagons without a remote controlled Shunter as there is someone with a radio telling the driver when to stop and go as he can see what the driver can't .
@@davidlipscombe916 sorry I meant the horrible audio at the end
@@game-azing It sounded like ether the air from the brakes or the suction from the toilet but more like the toilet being flushed then sucked into the holding tanks .
@@davidlipscombe916 forget it

Thanks ✌ And the flickering Light makes it seem a bit Spooky
A seriously oversized whistle for a gorgeously undersized loco - good stuff. 🤗👋
Yes indeed! It's like all small things they make more noise than the big ones .
The ADK/ADBs must have been so futuristic to Mozambique when they first arrived
At one stage they were looking at Buying the fleet of SA/SD's for their network but the payment for them fell through , but there is still the ADL/ADC's still in storage here .
Awesome photos and video 🚂👍
Glad you enjoyed it . Did a Cab ride in 12months earlier . and I don't know how 2 big crew can fit in that Small Cab as it was tight with 3 in it .
Today I learned that nz chopper couplers are sprung. For some reason I though they were just static. Great video!
I have seen a shorter one being used but not this length needing two to carry it . And glaad you enjoyed it , thanks .
I wonder if they have plans to extend their track 🙄
Don't think there is enough land to do it . But a good idea .
That departure though 😮 gotta love some wheel slip
That's what happens when the locomotive behind is not connected to the same air line to release it's brakes , but it sounds great .
@davidlipscombe916 yeah makes a good show 👌
Nice 🚂👌👍
Thanks for watching , Did you see what happened at the end with all the wheel spin caused by the slow release of their Bakes ? .
He had his lights on , of course the train would stop - police brain These are the same tossers that charged the driver of a fire appliance dangerous driving after going through a red light in Wellington in 2016: "...a volunteer fireman was charged with careless driving. With lights flashing and sirens blaring, the volunteer driver said he was making his way to a house fire in Wellington, in his Operational Support truck, last year when he slowed for a red light. Checking whether the coast was clear, and getting the okay from his officer in charge in the passenger seat, he said he went through the red light and collided with a car."
And if it was anyone Else they would have busted them ,
What a wonderful memory of past 75 years. the memories go back to later 1930's. What a dismal sight looking toward the old road side and a mess the engineers of the late 1950-'s to 1960's and what a dead head team they were go faster, go straighter, and heavier loads until it all come to bust, It was a display of man fiddles until nature has the last say BUST. The story of the Gorge had been predicted well befor the know it all enginners . Never mind it was longer now and harder goimng over the top of the two alturnatives.
Thanks for your insight as this was my 1st time through there and I agree with you about the Enginniers most of them are Bunnies , and what the should have done is raised the road on the piles so all the spoil would have gone under the road and straight into the river . But what do we as mere mortals know . What will it be like with the New Toll Bridge , Longer or about the same .
Housewife PM Helen Clark needs to be investigated .
She was never a Housewife . Her Husband did the work at home .
@@davidlipscombe916 then she was not useful at anything then.
Darwin award....sad loss of life for no reason
I goes to show what happens with Impatience .
Although speed is a factor in many road crashes, impatience is behind many such occurrences. Every day as I drive my car or a heavy vehicle, I see many times when drivers just won’t slow down, to what other traffic is doing, there is often a reason why vehicles are slow moving especially in built up areas. Another problem is tailgating, why in a 50 km/h built up area do motorists get so close? There is no chance of overtaking!
Youre More of a dumb idiot then I thought . Facts my foot 😂😂😂. Hope tvnz gets shut down cause you dumb educated twits couldn't use the thing between your ears . Or is it you got no b@lls between your legs . Shameful Nz media
