I was at Schooners when the 3 men drowned and was on the beach when the man on Sunday drowned near Sharkys. I myself got caught in a rip current by the Sunrise Resort near Sharkys but was able to get out of it by the help from my girlfriend. Very scary. My condolences to the families

If you’re not a strong swimmer forget it. I’ve been caught in countless rip currents. Stay calm, float on your back to get your breath. Calmly start swimming parallel to the shore until you are out of the rip. Float on your back if you need to rest again before swimming to shore

When I was much younger I loved to ride the undertow ( rip current). The key is to understand what it is and how it works. When you feel it tugging at your feet take a breath and ride it, don't fight it. It will let you go 50 to a hundred feet parallel to the beach. If you don't understand this you will panic and fight it and die.
