Yeah same I like that them meeting wasn’t some big epic thing. Cloud at this point is just a normal guy so having this world changing friendship start from something so small is really fun

I played this years ago, but i recently played FF7 for the first time; And i think Cloud probably resented Zack or was merely jealous of him for making it in SOLDIER, specially how he says, "Well, i'm a country boy too..." Until he really gets to know him and sees that he can be a pretty good friend
Kinda breaks your heart to know that Zack is the only person who has ever made Cloud laugh. Not just a chuckle or a chuff, a proper laugh. We see this Cloud compared to advent children Cloud and its hard to think its the same guy.
I kinda feel like Cloud’s friendship bond was much closer to Zack than Tifa at that time in my opinion. Though I would say Cloud & Tifa became much closer to each other by the time Cloud regained his true-self in FFVII.

I'm pretty sure this was before cloud had been poisoned with mako and had a whole identity crisis so it makes sense why he doesn't laugh
