A newly-discovered further Standard 8 cine-film of Århus trams filmed in May 1963 on the Light Railway Transport League tour of Scandinavia and North Germany. The thumbnail photo, though, is one taken by me on a visit in February 1969 as I couldn't extract a good enough thumbnail from the video.

Flensburg (Danish; Flensborg) was part of Denmark until seized by Prussia in 1864 and never returned. This is amateur 8mm silent cine, filmed during the Light Railway Transport League tour of May 1963. The tramways closed in 1973.

Compiled by request. The 1972 and 1973 photos were taken on the low-spec. camera I owned then, so not of the same quality as the 1978-1981 shots. One Burwell & District view, the remainder are Eastern Counties Lodekkas.

These trams were authentic machines. What a hell of an accelaration and motor. They Also Had And Interesting Design. Shame that these trams only ran from 1999 to 2015, 16 years, that's ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!

Wow! Some memories flooding back here. I was a 309 lad myself from Heath Row up to Havers Lane. Was fabulous to see BS as it was back in the day of my teenage😁 years. Thanks for sharing this.

Great film on a busy Station Road. That darn sun....what a lovely sunny day....great to also see South Street with the car dealers (all gone now).

Den film burde scannes med professionelt udstyr. Det ville sikkert give bedre skarphed. Derefter vil det være muligt at rette op på farver og kontrast. Jeg tror nemlig at der er meget mere kvalitet i den film end vi kan se her. Det samme gælder sikkert mange andre film på denne kanal. Det er sikkert for dyrt for en privatperson, men der burde være et arkiv eller et museum som er interesseret i at bevare optagelserne. Det er første gang jeg ser en optagelse fra remisen i Århus. Det krævede en dygtig fotograf og et godt kamera at lave sådan en film i 1963.
Desværre har jeg ikkke sådant professionelt udstyr, og heller ikke kendskab til!

Used to go on these all of the time. My faves were NOS 13,12,3 and 4. Good memories on those!

Jeg mener, mange af de optagelser er senere end 1963. Bl.a. husker jeg ikke, der var linienumre på skiltet på stoppestederne i start-tredserne, der stod kun "Stoppested" - og så måtte man hen, at se til tabeltavlen for, at se hvilken linie det drejede sig om.
Ved ikke hvornår man kunne se hvad - men der er ikke en eneste bil på filmen der er fra senere end 1963. :-)

Many glimpses of the brand new Düsseldorfer. How stupid it was to stop using trams. Many of our Düsseldorfers are still working today in Egypt. Must've been good quality.

Vognen drejer ikke til venstre, men kører ligeud over Vester Voldgade krydset; her var sporet ikke nøjagtig ligeud over krydset, men svinget lidt til venstre. Peter.

Great to see the Flensburg tram in operation. I also like the other tram film sequences. Would be interesting to see more tram towns, especially in the West of Germany like Ruhr area, Wuppertal, Remscheid.

Lovely video, well put together. Don't suppose you've got a selection from the Ipswich area to share at some point?
Regrettably I only visited Ipswich once, passing through in 1971, and only had time to take one photo, of Corporation AEC Regent III no. 13 on route 9A at Cornhill. Have also got a shot of preserved Regent no. 2 at the Southend bus-rally in 1975. My work took me to Norwich a lot, though; plenty of ECOC photos from there.

The bus layby shown in the clip was also use by Cambridge Coach Services Service 75 to Oxford for a time in the 1990s.
Two Eastern Counties FLF buses in the film are FLF 459 (JPW 459D) & FLF 426 (LWC 662C). Problem is PSV Circle book 2PF1 has FLF 426 as sold to Ben Jordon of Coltishall in February 1980. The book could be wrong. JPW 459D is still in existence but in in Germany converted by South Eastern Coachworks with off side entrance.
Tony, I know the date of July 1981 to be correct, not least because on the original film, immediately preceding it is a section of film showing an FLF at Bishops Stortford that was only at Bishops Stortford for one week in July 1981 (loaned from Chelmsford garage while a Bishops Stortford garage VR was at Chelmsford for repair to damage). My records, compiled from PSV Circle, Omnibus Society and Eastern National Enthusiasts Group newssheets state LWC 662C to have been withdrawn by ECOC in November 1981, sold to A.P.T. at Bracebridge Heath, Lincoln, in May 1982, and thence to P.V.S. (breaker) at Carlton in February 1983.
@@peterx727 Thank you for your reply. Your information is more up to date then what i in book case. I am secretary of The Cambridge Omnibus Society, so I am always interested to see film & pictures of buses in Cambridge from years past. I just remember the Bristol FLF buses in service in Cambridge. When I was a student in Cambridge, was just when the buses pasted from Eastern Counties to CAMBUS. I have also looked your very interesting Bishop's Stortford film. Very interesting film.
Thank you Peter X for uploading this interesting piece of film. I can just remember Bristol FLF buses in service in Cambridge. To think now there a major bus station to serve the Hospital instead of the bus layby in the film. Do you have any more film from Cambridge to show us?
Regrettably, that's the only film I took at Cambridge. But I took a large number of still photos of buses in Cambridge between 1972 and 1981 (all crew-operated buses, FS and FLF; I had no interest in anything one-man operated). If you think it might be of interest I could have a go at making up a slide-show of them and posting it on RUclips. Please let me know.
