I mean, Spawn Astarion finally starts healing, and it's more open with his feelings. Tav/Durge spent who knows how much time with him since they started their adventure, and for him to start being in a relationship, they really need to gain his trust. Two hundred years of shit, and he finally meets someone that aside from revenge, shows him kindness, warmth, and gives him something else to care about, someone with whom he can finally let his guard down, although he does not completely open until you complete his mission, understandably enough. When he finally gets closure after killing Cazador, he becomes able to fully embrace his feelings, start healing, and confess to Tav/Durge, a second time, in this occasion, being ready to say "I love you". No wonder after all that, he finds it difficult if you try to break up with him, he got so attached… Even now the first thing he does is question if he did something wrong. That's one of the many reasons why making Tav/Durge become an ilithid is such a difficult choice, and such a sad ending… Both A.Astarion and S.Astarion, are still in love with them, but… At least S.Astarion, doesn't know what to do not only because of the new appearance, but because when one becomes a mindflayer, loses their soul, and so, he doesn't know if the person he once loved is still there, or if it's just a strange monster talking with the empty remains of what it once was. He knows you lost your soul and he can't ignore that fact. But he cannot move on either.

I want to hug him till he lets go, even if it lasts forever. It’s everything he deserves.

If I were 19 and hated my dad, I think I'd really identify with Astarion. But Karlach's story is the far more compelling one, to me, at least.

And I saw this scene somewhere else before I got the game not too long ago which is why I say if you want to romance him you should. He is supposed to end things if you have low approval, if he stays allow him that. Some people like him do exist where they simply need time and a chance to see the good again. That said I don’t think my dark urge would have the heart everyone else is target practice not Astarion and their little family, I mean come on.😂❤

I wish the other companions have that Monster dialogue as well. I feel it would make sense to have that option to break up with your partner due to Tav becoming a monster and wanting to protect them. Such ashame its only Astarion.

Mindflayer transformation ending spoiler ------- this is why I get so annoyed at the midflayer romance endings. Everything the characters tell you about their love all goes down the drain. Especially Wylls I don't see them making those choices who ever wrote those last lines was all over the place. I hope they get fixed my first playthrough had the worst ending possible with Wyll. lol Only good ending is Gale which makes sense because he is a smart open minded man. (the most out of all the team imo)

So, I redid the part where I take the magic evolve tadpole when the Emperor gives it to me because i felt kinda eh and didn’t like how it changed physically changed me…and was afraid what Astarion would think. I knew this line (or a version of it) comes up with Durge but didn’t realize it was with normal too. It’s comforting to know if I do decide to take the evolve tadpole…Astarion will be on my side. ❤
