Spending time in the outdoors is a passion which I share with friends and family. These experiences are unique and memorable. The picture above was taken while backpacking the day after a storm descended with freezing rain and snow above Stoney Indian Pass in Glacier National Park in 2014.

The day was marked by torrential rain, our sea kayaking trip cancelled, but we were able to visit Doubtful Sound in all its glory with literally thousands of waterfalls because of the rain. We also learned how to handle the sandflies that plagued us on our Kepler Track backpacking trip thanks to our helpful bus driver. On our way to Doubtful Sound we also crossed Lake Manapouri, New Zealand's s...

Will the Twins invite him to their MLB Spring Training 2025?
Yes
Nice video. You might want to check the exposure settings on your camera as much of the footage seems very underexposed, reducing the color and contrast.
Had problems going from sand with changing lighting to alpine tundra both ways. Tried to edit out in FinalCut Pro, but not always successfully….
I am sad I didn’t get to go, but if I have the chance in the future, I don’t want to ride with Tom driving… I want to ride with Clayton driving. It looked a lot funner!
Missed having you along!Clayton is also Army (Apache helicopter pilot)
If you guys were not camping on trail, I'm surprised you hauled your big packs. I guess you had your gear in case you didn't make it?
Yes - we camped on trail after hiking in at night I think something like 8 miles, very cold that night!
Oh beautiful John. Good job.
Many thanks!
Gorgeous
Thanks- so glad you enjoyed!
Beautiful scenery !!
It’s a really beautiful place. The state of Arkansas unfortunately may take this place from the National Park service and allow development!
Thanks for sending me heer John. I love the Tenkara footage. Perfect equipment for that type of fishing. Beautiful fish! When I was guiding Vets in the GSMNP I asked a friend, a full time guide who also guided in Alaska for 13 years, about trying it. The waters up the mountains are typically pretty small and I thought it might be easier to work with what is basically a graphite "cane pole". He was pretty, OK, VERY graphic in his answer. He said he tried it once in Alaska. All the rage and such. Hooked a big King and discovered the weakness of the technique. No reel. No drag. He said that fish drug him into deep water and ran him over two rapids, nearly drowning him, before it finally broke off. 🤪😂😱 He said he went home, threw the Tenkara rod in the trash, and decided to stay with conventional fly fishing equipment. I never did buy one.
Glad you enjoyed it! Was a magical day, despite getting stranded in the snow for an extra day!
Beautiful. I need me a kayak or canoe trip. What an awesome adventure! Great video John!
Thanks! The resolution is horrible compared with New Zealand stuff- trying to figure this out?
Tex- how is the video quality on the Buffalo trip compared to the Routeburn trip? Do they look comparable?
I liked it. I didn’t notice any difference.
Nicely done, John. I bet the boys had a grand adventure.
I think so!
Stunning . Well done , loved it . 😍😍😍
Thank you so much 😊
Excellent work....photography and sound! You can keep your sand flies.....I've met them before at Milford and they were kind enough to have me for lunch
Them waterfalls! Wow!
Amazing!
Most epic! Them tall ferns! WOW!
Милашка! Красавец!
As a child, I loved to read books about English sailors. And then I saw it in reality. Amazing. I also swam a lot along the Kuril Islands and Kamchatka and saw the same beauty, this element.
Wonderful video. How beautiful. We also have a lot of wild places in Russia. I was born and raised on the Kuril Islands and saw similar things. We lived in tents, climbed volcanoes, swam in waterfalls and the ocean. Many sea lions, bears and foxes come close there. Our God did everything beautifully for man and put eternity in our hearts. Therefore, the Creator says that the meek and righteous will live forever on Earth and enjoy the abundance of the world.
I wish we could travel safely to visit your beautiful country. Know of some people that once sea kayaked from Japan to Alaska - what an adventure.
Hey Dave Gardner, John doesn’t like the hiking kilt because he has never tried it! Hahaha!
@@johnwhorff6680We ordinary Russians also want to visit New Zealand, Australia, and Alaska. But unfortunately this is impossible for us. We are waiting for the New World to come and Jesus Christ will rule our planet. Then there will be no borders, there will be no military equipment and we will be able to travel everywhere and enjoy the beauty of the planet.
A very beautiful breed of dog. I have two English Setters and I love them very much. For Russia this is a rare breed. I respect people who love animals. But unfortunately, many animals today suffer at the hands of humans. But the first task that God gave to people, Adam and Eve, was to care for and monitor animals. But this disaster will not last long, soon our Creator God Jehovah will destroy all evil from the planet in Armageddon. Then the time of heaven will come, the planet will be ruled by Jesus Christ, with him disease, grief, hunger, wars and death will disappear (Revelation 21: 3,4). A happy time will come for all people and animals. It requires us to read the Bible daily and do the will of God.
So true! Thanks for the comment! Never was impressed by things of man, but always things of nature (God). See my recent New Zealand videos!
Thanks! I have three more of these on New Zealand I hope to finish this month!
I just watched this with Donna after I visited with you today, it was even more beautiful than I expected. Looking forward to future adventures my friend! 👍

monstre
Oh please tell me this baby has a loving owner and is out of that cage? What a sweet wonderful dog
This is only where he sleeps when not out in the house or in the backyard!
Oh hell no
English Setters are the best. They're like a high output Golden Retriever
Irish setters and English setters are like a higher energy, more beautiful version of the golden. I think the Irish setter may have been used to create the golden retriever. That’s probably where they get their affection from
Amazing
Your all right Granddad is amazing!
Amazing
Amazing....

There is NOTHING disrespectful in this video….
Gorgeous !
