Things never come apart that easy in my experience. The plastic cases resist attempts at prying apart with metal tools and end up looking a chewed up mess.

It didn't worked for me. Other buttons are working fine only on off button not working.

First clue as to why the remote stopped working: Duracrap batteries must have been leaking.

Great Scott!!! After cleaning of PC Board I super-glued a piece of foil to the ON/Off button and it's working like a charm again. Such a helpfull video clip with easy to follow steps. Saved me from buying a new remote. 10/10

It looks like the resistance of the black rubber thing on the rubber button parts tends to be between 10 kohm to 18 kohm. For some reason, some are beyond that, all the way up to 66 kohm. All these remote eventually produce this odd oil. I think it just leaks out of the rubber.

This actually worked. I didn't go to the extreme of washing in sink. Just brushed all rubber parts with damp paint brush. Its actually the silver paper bit that fixes the power button .... but hey it worked and Lg TV now operative again. So excellent.

Rather than using a metal tool, using a plastic card or credit card to pry open can avoid the damage of the outer case. 👍👍
