Swampy acres farm
Добавлен 31 дек 2023
We are a small farm in eastern connecticut that tries to grow vegetables and live stock as close to organic as possible. We purchased a piece of land that had nothing on it and have steadily built the farm to what it is today. We try to farm within our means. So that means we buy equipment that is generally broken or run down and in need of repairs. We custom build our own equipment to do different jobs on the farm to help keep expenses down. But we also enjoy building toys just for fun. What's life without a little bit of fun.

spreading, planting corn and chopping grass
do you do this every year,, it seemed pretty dirty for one year of use.
Yes, I didn't clean it from last year, so I had to clean it before I could fire it up this year. There's a lot of paraffin with waste oil, so you sometimes have to vacuum them out halfway through the season. Do you own one or are you thinking of getting one?
@@Swampyacresfarm A friend of mine has one in his garage and he said yearly he cleans it and the orifice also he says gets clogged up pretty fast.
The orifice in the nozzle does get plugged up, but you can spray it backwards with brake cleaner if you take it out and then put it back in and be good to go. I like waste oil because you can run heating oil or waste oil and still get heat as to being stuck with just number two oil
@@Swampyacresfarm when you have access to all the used oil needed, you can not beat it. too bad you could not some how heat your home with it (legally)
I had a friend put one in a shed next to his house he insulated the duct work really well and ran it into the house and tied it into the exiting duct work.
👍
thank you
Way to good of a tractor to destroy
I wish I didn't have to but if I get into the program they will basically give me enough money for a bigger brand new 4x4 tractor with a cab witch I normally couldn't afford. But I do have a family member who collects international tractors so im going to give it to him when im done so it will live on in replacement parts for his tractors.
House is looking good
Thank you very much we're trying to get it done we have about a month and a half in actual hours on it with two guys
Guessing the plucker wasn’t big enough?
No the birds wouldn't even fit in it and the girls were actually faster than a plucker
@ yeah that was impressive
@@DanielDombrowskixsehcx without a doubt we're having them do it next year was so fast and efficient and they did such a clean job
Looking good 😊
thank you
If you need manuals you should be able to find them on steelsoldiers, as for the rim situation you might be able to find a used set of super single rims off of a M35A3 (they are more common in canada than the US, but still out there) or flip the hubs (the lugs and hubs can be flipped around to convert the truck to duals).
awsome thanks for the information. Hopefully I can get back on to finishing the truck this winter
U get more of a bang with dry toilet paper wad. I haven't been able to find any blueprints on these rev war carriages. Have got 2 barrels of this style in need😊
it was cool but not as impressive as I thought it would have been
@@Swampyacresfarm without a wad the pdr didn't combust properly. U've gotta use a lot more pdr without a wad. I've used dry toilet paper twice a year for 30yrs in one of my 40mm's. It just makes confetti for 30-40 feet & very very loud. P. S. Wet wads can blow a gun up😊
good to know. thanks for the info
Nice display at Old Home Days
thank you
Excellent idea! Thank-you for sharing!
thank you and your welcome
Awesome build
thank you
Fresno
👍
How do you make sure that the top is level? Not just smooth
What are you referring to the concrete or the second floor
@@Swampyacresfarm the concrete
@reneecuprak2435 we use a laser level to get it as close as we can but we're working at this. first time we've done slab work
Looking great Fred!
thank you. next video will be a couple days out but alot of progress was done on it.
Looks great. 😊
thank you
Looking good

Wonder when the winners of how many piglets there would be will be contacted
There's a video that says piglets have arrived that gives the count and in the video that you guessed on I put in the comments for you to give me your email so that I may message you because you have the live number and somebody else had the number of how many total piglets so I figured both of you guys would win so please send me your email so I can contact you and get your address to mail you a t-shirt thank you
Looks good brother can't wait to see the build
thank you hopefully within the next couple of months it will be weather tight. trying to build on a budget witch means alot of manual labor.
So cute!
thank you
I bet the mud keeps her cooler in this really hot weather
Yes pigs cannot sweat so it helps them
So cute!
thank you
Would suggest put some 2x4 s in the lower half of the walls before you side it ,just in case later on you need to mount anything there is solid frame work to mount to. Things look absolutely amazing already. Ðont know any pigs got it that good❤❤
That is a really good idea thank you I'm definitely going to have to incorporate that. It's been a few years in the making we've had a bunch of makeshift buildings until we can afford to do a little bit better but we're trying. thank you for the compliment
Hi guys!!! Waiting to see the piglets!!😊
they are beautiful. Hopefully we will have the video available for Thursday
I guess 8 piglets
good luck I'll post results on next video. thank you
Congratulations you are one of the winners what is your email

Just came across your channel love the pig barn set up
Thank you we really appreciate it. Do you raise pigs?
@Swampyacresfarm yes we have pigs and goats We have Berkshire/old spot boar 1 Hampshire/duroc Sow 1 red wattle Sow And goats we raise meat goats there kiko / boer cross Right now we have 28 goats And 18 piglets on the ground
@@pasttime8450 those are all nice breed pigs especially if your Crossing them we like ours too thank you for viewing our Channel let us know if you have any suggestions or questions we appreciate any input
How do you like the 450 utility baler?
Besides it making softcore bales that are a little bit harder to wrap the thing works really well. I haven't had any problems with it. Are you looking to purchase one?
@@Swampyacresfarm OK.. Yeah l've been looking at it and a couple other ones.
@@bradjenkins932 for me the cost of it got me into a round baler that was not crazy priced it works really well just when you want to do haylage you've got to make sure it's only maximum 40% wet so that the bale doesn't deform on the wrapper when you're trying to wrap it good luck let me know if you get one
@@Swampyacresfarm Will do.. Thanks for the information.
@@bradjenkins932 your welcome
Love watching the progress, wish I could do half of what you can
hard to do with a full time job but we try. thank you
Wouldn't a $3k baler pay for itself in a couple of years?
Sorry probably misunderstanding the question please elaborate but if you mean the round baler it was because I got that Baler for a really good deal and the square baler I've had several over the last few years that I spent more time fixing them and fighting with being able to get the hay done so I said the heck with it and it's much easier to make sure every bale is tied and done trying to limit my stress it gets frustrating some days. Hopefully I answered your question if not please elaborate
@@Swampyacresfarm Thanks for the reply. The video just showed the cutting. I was asking why you were not baling all of that, but your reply confirms that you actually are.
@stealth7g sorry I'll try to get better at making videos. im still learning. but thank you for your input
Hope you check for breeding birds first !
Yeah if you notice I don't drive fast with the mower we watch out for baby deer turkeys and everything we try not to harm anything if we can help it. share the land with the animals thank you for your concern
No sound ?
used to be not sure what happened
😂
something always happens
What's wrong with the clauss
I think the grass was to heavy it looked like it kept plugging up
Hehehe
This thing works awesome glad I built it
New subscriber here love it so far !!
thank you we appreciate the support
Controlled chaos
Every time I try to make plans they don't work out the way I want them but we still managed to get things done
I like your build. Nice and simple, but the birds require a minimum of 2 square feet per bird, so that's way to many birds for that size of tractor.
yes I agree while they are little it's ok but as they grow we spread them out to other chicken tractors. we only run about 20 per tractor when they get a little bigger. to many in one group just flattens the grass and makes a mess.
make sure they dont get too cold at night
Yes agreed we've been bringing them in at night until we make sure everything is good with them we also don't trust raccoons even though we have electric fence
Can you bail me some of those ferns?
sure
Well if the hole was bigger. I would put a Cummins in it and look for some sort of old truck air cleaner to hang there. Not very original. But it would leave a clean look to an open motor. Nothing looks worse to me then an old rat rod with one of those stupid K&N open cone shaped air cleaner with the chrome circle on the end
agreed. if you watch my video called [busy week] I have a walk around with the truck cab. I have the side air box and was planning on putting a cummins in it. I'm glad you said this because I was thinking about it. thank you
Thanks for the shout out!
your welcome
Look at them happy fellas!
