Long-form podcasts have helped fill the need for those wanting to go deeper into subjects/stories. Still, many people just aren’t that interested in analysis, discussion and (self-)reflection; Except they do “go to core” through repetitive exposure of the meta-narrative, sharing the experience of the stories, subconsciously, emotionally and hopefully playing it out in life, whether being able to speak to it or not

I was at the Pittsburgh event, which was well attended (although tickets were only sold for the floor and first mezzanine of the arena). As far as a possible conversion to Christianity/Catholicism, Peterson used to be very uncomfortable around the topic. Hard to blame him if he still digs his heels in. I fall to the Bishop Barron take on the Peterson phenomenon: Christian or no, he is hitting that segment of “nones” which seem painfully unreachable. Plus I think young men especially are taken with a speaker who can be emotionally vulnerable, as well as articulate and funny, all the while authentically speaking truth and seeking meaning.

Good conversation- Would like to hear your views on the unveiled anti-Semitism rampant since the Oct. attack and a larger program of evil at work. Some of the progressive mindset in the West could claim legitimate grievances for past hurts, but much of it comes from ingratitude and misuse of freedoms

Your candor and vulnerability in sharing this struggle was very moving. The roots of our hurt can be almost too painful to allow the Lord into, except for His Grace.

Thanks for the discussion, although i feel you were really talking more about “rigidity,” although I guess you could say it regards a type of scruples in religious practice. However, Big S “Scrupulosity” is a situation suffered by those with whom I work in spiritual direction and encounter in confession who are dealing with heavy proclivities to obsessive-compulsiveness, specifically of the pure “O” variety; Meaning, once someone obsesses that he or she might have crossed the line and entertained a gravely sinful thought, the poor soul feels the only option is to go to confession. The compulsion to misuse the sacrament in order to get relief from the obsessive thought still speaks to what Michel mentions: what is one’s disposition in heart, intention and focus? What is their image of God? Still, one’s interior freedom is arguably hampered and compromised by mental difficulties, out of one’s total control.
