I'm trying to understand what you mean --- you want to avoid cutting the curve in tile and make enough room under the wall to stick the tile under the wall. Right? This means the cut under the wall would get deeper and deeper (5"?) towards the left side of the tile, affecting the integrity of the wall. Thank you! The spacers are 1/16". Many tile types have edges designed in such a way that when you place 2 pieces of tile (on a table, etc) and push them against each other, there's already a tiny V shape gap because only the bottom edges of the tiles are touching, not the top edges. This implies that the final grout width will be a bit wider than the size of the spacer chosen.

@@chadmckeighan6726 The reason I did it with the wet saw was to avoid (SILICA) dust. Very dangerous for lungs especially later in life. Many guys cut rounded shapes, etc with a grinder but even outdoors, the dust that gets all over a person is way too much. (For best results, the toilet should be removed when doing the flooring but whatever works for you.)

Read some of my longer replies to other comments, maybe I cover some useful info. The procedure I did in the video for this particular situation was fine, but I may not shave/cut way to many tiles on both sides of the stove. There's a certain point where the procedure I did, can go from helping to ruining a differently laid out backsplash especially if the tiles are smaller. One has to find the balance between insisting on horizontal grout lines on uneven countertops AND not having the first row of tiles noticeably getting too narrow.

Yes, that can be an option too. Whatever the customer wants.

The only reason I didn't show how I cut the tiles was to keep the video shorter with a focus on how to measure and mark the tile for that rounded shape. I'll probably make a video on how I cut that curved shape in tile on my next project. The focus there would be to avoid silica dust by any means. Very bad for the lungs.

Definitely. And the pros who deal with these rounds tile/flooring cuts quite often, would most likely have it. The way I did it in the video is just a quick use-what-you-have way of getting it done and I hope it helps at least some DIYers.

And these are the white clips (1/16 grout) amzn.to/44mhkFc Oh, and the re-usable wedges amzn.to/3UFv5eQ If clips don't break 'clean off', it can be because there's too much thin-set around the legs of the clip in the grout line. There could be other reasons, probably brand related. I avoid the grinder as much as I can because of the silica dust (found in other construction work too). See some of my long replies to other comments where I go into some detail on how horrible that dust is because it causes irreversible lung disease.
