This video is of our travel to and from the Wild Life Center. First a 45 minute Ferry ride, then a short drive down Alaska Highway 7 to Mosquito road. We had to make a mad dash back to Haines to catch the ferry to our ship. Hope you enjoy.

A day out in the woods constructing a Bushcraft Chair
Isn’t it amazing what happens when nature is left alone to take its course. Even with bigger trees affected with some literally washed away, the smaller plants hung on in the rock bars and will thrive. There’s a campsite where live in the flood plain of a nice, wild backcountry stream. Every year the spring floods take everything away, sometimes even the fire ring stones. You can’t really tell anyone has ever camped there. I appreciate videos like these showcasing nature’s power and the effects from it. She’s always working on her domain. All we can do is look on in awe and adapt to what she does. Take Care and Stay Safe… especially when around those widowmakers!
Thanks for Sharing. Stay Safe
I like that tent set up sir. I’ve looked at the lanshans a few times and just never pulled the trigger on one.
When I wore out my Zpacks Duplex I decided I would never spend the money for a dyneema tent again. I thought about the Lanshan tent but settled on the Durston Xmid for $260, I think I spent. I have no regrets on this polyester version and will only use polyester from here on out. Best of luck with your future hiking plans. All the best, Tony ✌
$260.00 not bad and I do like the Durston Xmid. Senior Hiker 77 had done a review on the Lanshan so when I saw the open box sale on Amazon I grab it. Now I just need to put it to the test. I still want to setup a bike for bike camping also, after watching your videos I got the bug. LOL Thanks for watching Tony! WGB
Hello, glad someone in Texas getting rain. We'll get a shower here and there not even enough to keep the grass from drying up. Thank you for sharing have a blessed day.
I’m guilty of showing up late! Camp was all set up! So nice to have shared that evening together Dad! I love you !
I was so happy you made it! It was a great night out!
Always up for a good hike!

What a great campsite! I'm so glad your son was able to join you!
Yes, I am blessed to have it. Great place to go and recharge. I am hoping my son gets the bug for hiking. LOL
Howdy your video popped up after mine. Good hike. I need to hit a trail, too. Have a blessed day.
It's cool enough now hiking is enjoyable. Thanks for watching!
It's getting to be good tent camping weather in Texas. Have a blessed day.
Yes Sir, it is. Pray you have a blessed week!
Your lucky I haven't been to a campsite all year that had 2 trees close enough together to use my hammock. Nice campsite and campfire. Nice catch. Have a good day friend.
A Hammock is a nice way to camp for us old men. LOL Thanks for watching!
Much agree
Love my cowboy coffee! Saw you talking with Blackie Thomas at the Georgia Bushcraft meet up. I hope to attend next year. Thanks for watching!
@@wanderinggraybeard3985 Blackie is Great. And I hope to see you at the next Georgia Bushcraft Meet Up. I believe it is April 2025. Stay Safe.

@@thevirginiabushcrafter8833 thank you for watching!
Looks good, you even have a hammock up. Last couple of parks I've been to didn't have enough trees together. Thanks for sharing. Have a good day.
@@Bartonsrving yeah, last time we stayed there we were able to hang our hammocks inside of the cabin from the rafters, but this particular cabin was too narrow. So we did some southern Engineering. thanks for watching.
Yup, it always work
Thanks for watching! WGB

@@wanderinggraybeard3985 The deer were definitely not very scared around people
Yes God is awesome 👍🙂
Yes He is ! Thanks for watching and praising God!
That hammock looks comfortable. 60 degrees is cold for Texans. We all need some rain in Texas. Porky's. Thank you for sharing have a good day.
I just got back from Belton Lake. I did not put the under Quilt on because it was 70 degrees but about 11 pm I had to add it. LOL I guess I am getting cold natured at my old age. Thanks for watching!
So glad yall got to go to Alaska. Great helicopter ride the veiws were amazing. Suprised you actually got to stand on it. Thanks for sharing have a good day.
That was an amazing experience! Thanks for Watching!
Nice happy place one day I'll own a happy place of my own. Sounds like some awesome hikes. Thanks for sharing have a good day.
I am very blessed to have that place. It is on public land but so far no one has destroyed it. A grand father and his grandson found it but the keep it clean when they use it.
Did the pilot say that if you drink some glacier water you add 10 years to your life,i did on mine 10 years ago 😅😅😅😅
No Sir, but I'll take the ten years! LOL Thanks for watching!
Yes brother! It says in the Bible, when there is two or more praying in his name , it will be done for you! Amen 🙏🙏🙏
The one with the most toys wins. Nice! Looks like a great outing my friend.
That snow capped mountains look refreshing on this triple digit day in Texas. Thanks for sharing have a good day.
Yes, it was 50 degrees that afternoon.
Pretty nice set up nothing like drinking a cup of coffee outside.
Yes sir that’s one luxury I will carry in my pack. Got to have my coffee.
What did you think?
@@GSIOutdoorsLLC it’s an outstanding product and a great way to have coffee on the trail. Lightweight and its ability to nest in the cup is awesome! 👏
I want to do some hikes but its hot outside. Have a good day
Yes Sir, Just got back from Washington DC. 2 of the 4 days was over 100 degrees.
That was a very entertaining guide . Alaska seems like a great place to goto it's definitely on our to go list with our rv. Thanks for sharing.
We would like to drive it as well. Maybe in 2025
Nice pics Alaska looks so green compared to Texas
It is an amazing place with lots of water. They call it a rain forest. It is a long video but check out the wildlife center. Steve is an outstanding showman.
Alaska is a beautiful state, when the weather is nice! Not so much during a blizzard and/or whiteout!! I spent alot of time up there in the 1970s. "Fun" fact that people don't realize about Alaska: mosquitoes can be brutal!!!
Yes Sir, We brought Mosquitoes wipes but did not need them. We only had two sunny days, mostly cloudy with a little rain. 40 degrees days was nice! Did you work on the pipe line in the 70s or stationed there during your service?
@@wanderinggraybeard3985 I was stationed at Ft Lewis Washington state. Since Alaska was only a few hour flight, we (2nd Ranger Battalion) trained there several times - when we weren't deployed overseas.
This instruction is very helpful. www.sport-schroeer.de/download/PE_Reparatur.pdf
Thank You!
Raining here at my place right now. I was glad to see it, I was afraid my muddy pasture was going to dry out. 😂
We have been blessed with rain but not much in our water shed for our local lakes. Lol I am mowing in 4 day intervals. Becky's sheep aren’t able to keep up.
We enjoyed our stop at the cross on our trip from Uvalde to Abilene state park. Never seen it at night it is a sight to see. I still have my ruck from the gulf war and was thinking about doing a ruck challenge last year. Is there a certain month to do the ruck challenge? Thank you for sharing, have a good day.
First of all, thank you for your service to our country. I believe you can do the challenge any time just sign up on their website. When you do let me know and I will donate toward your challenge. Thank you for watching and sharing the video!
Nice setup. Thought you had a nice size fish, I guess some people could eat that turtle. I guess they have a bunch of names i call them mud martins. We stopped near Ballinger once and filmed the big cross for a video. Thank you for sharing have a nice day.
I have caught some nice catfish there but that soft shell turtle is the second one to be caught there. Miss Kay calls them mud martins as well. I am glad ya'll visited our small town if ever through here again please look me up and I'll buy ya'll lunch. I did a video on a hike up to the cross and gave some history about it and some places in town. ruclips.net/video/PmTajExzNc8/видео.html Thanks for watching!
You’re right it has 3 speeds on the battery pack. I only get 2 on mine on my small panel too.
I thought so, that little fan is a game changer, especially in the hammock!
Nice vid man don’t make it so long tho 15 mins max
Thanks for watching!
Good like to see how other people set up camp and what equipment your using. Thank you for sharing have a good day.
Thanks for watching! I am enjoying your channel, the wife and I are going to explore all the State Parks in our RV soon!
@wanderinggraybeard3985 good luck on your adventures 🙂👍
Thanks 🎉from Atlanta Ga ❤❤❤❤❤
Thanks for watching!
You might like a swagman roll. Not sure if you would need it in your climate but it makes a good sleeping bag in moderate temps.
I have the swagman in my EDC pack and I agree it is prefect for moderate weather. I bought one after watching the Corporals Corner. Thanks for watching!
Tip. Put a drop of vanilla extract behind each ear. Gnats will not bother you.
Thanks for the tip! I have added some to the pack. Thanks for watching!
Nicely done sir. Practice makes perfect.
The wood was willow but it was hard. Maded real fine dust. I just finished a book by Les Stroud. He states to do a finger nail test. If you can leave a nail mark the wood should be soft enough to use for the hearth board. I have used lot of hackberry and it works great. Thanks for watching Ray!
Thanks for the shout out there brother. And glad to see that fan working hard for you. I’m still really digging mine. So how do you like that one Tigris quilt? I’ve looked at it a few times online but haven’t tried it yet.
I like it so far. It will work well for late spring, summer and early fall. While camping with the grandson it got down to 36 degrees and I had to add my wool quilt for warmth. Check this guy's review out. ruclips.net/video/-7RIEyRGbi0/видео.html You're welcome for the shout out. I mention you a lot in my videos because I learn so much from you! Thanks for Watching!
Congrats on getting the fire started with a bow drill, it is definitely a challenge!
I have done many at home in a controlled area but out in the elements makes a major difference. Thanks for watching Stoney!
This is cool! I like the setup. What part of Texas is this?
Between San Angelo and Abilene / West Texas Thanks fo watching! WGB
@@wanderinggraybeard3985 I figured around there. I could tell by the mesquite trees behind ya and those limestone rocks in your camp there. You take care
Amazing
Thanks Bill! WGB
Man! I dont know how you can sleep on the ground pops. I have to use a hammock now a days. I slept on the ground all last week and Im feeling it.
I like the Hammock over ground sleeping. Easier to slide out of the hammock than get up off the ground. LOL Thanks for watching! WGB
