Tons of Radial Engine Sounds!
Просмотров 68 тыс.12 лет назад
No BS just a ton of radial engine sounds from old warbirds. Wright R-3350 18 cylinder radial, Pratt & Whitney R-2800 18 cylinder, and R-1820 9 cylinder single row. Video taken way back in 1996 with my first video camera.

Taxi and most of the take-off. Old video I found from "Wings of Eagles" air show in NY. Turn up the volume.

The truck was a bit bouncy.....see why? This video was uploaded from an Android phone.
WAITAMINUTE! Your thumbnail depicts an aircraft with inline engines. I need "The Sound of ROUND".
If I was a billionaire I’d buy that for a dollar lol just kidding I would purchase it
T/Y I really needed that today!
How did an HE 111 with liquid cooled V-12s get a huge portion of a radial engine sound vid?
2:00 This is not Radial Engine. This is V-Engine.
Good effort man! thanks for sharing!
What air craft was this at 1:10?
Nothing sounds as good as a radial aircraft engine in flight. Give chill bumps
Magnificent sounds of engine the true power over the German empire
Those planes are pure magic.
Funny comments on American Radials...I wonder which you'd rather fly if you're taking battle damage? The Merlin or the Pratt and Whitney...hit the coolant on the Merlin and you're done for the day...The 2800 comes back from battle, cylinders gone, pistons exposed, shot to hell and still flying...give me a Hellcat Corsair or Thunderbolt any day.
The Warhawk has a V12...
Gotta love the A1J skyraider used in nam
Cool
Round engine s put out alot of power and are reliable. R2800,R 20007M2s very reliable....mine always went to TBO....and on the 1cracked cylinder, cos I let another use my plane! Need to run them right, and warmup prior to flight.... yes, they'll tell you when ready!
Awesome, did you know that engine sound at minimum RPM was used for batmobiles sounds ? :D
That Connie at the beginning it amazing 😍😍😍
02:03 not radial
Love those big American radials. Too bad the german heinkel was included.
Due to various reasons (maintenance in the field, vulnerability of a liquid coling system) a radial engine would have been much more suitable to propel the Heinkel He111 but the Germans simply didn't have any radials powerful enough so they used Junkers Jumo 211 V-12 liquid-cooled inline engines.
The German Twin is in fact a Spanish licence-buit Heinkel 111 with Rolls-Royce Merlin V12 inline engines, which took part in the filming of "The Battle of Britain", an absolute rarity. How good to see it flying in your Video! It later fatally crashed.
BEATFUL SOUND RADIALS, BRASIL OK.
4:12, a Bearcat.
why
German twin at 1:58...... does not have radial engines. Full of *&#@. Doesn't even sound like a radial.
LOL at 4:32!
Love the merlin powered heinkel.
OK I realize there are inline (AKA not radial engines) in this video! They are there because they are sweet and a good comparison to the radial sounds.
andben there v engines for the German aircraft and they’re supercharged
if u say so .
The Heinkel 111 is a license-built Spanish version with V-1650 Merlin engines.
This looks like Franklin ,Pa.
well, i wouldnt put it as bad, but they suck in alot of fuel to power that thing, and alot of work is put into less back pressure in the engine...which can cause them to not be efficient
Indeed. And like race car and American muscle engines they sound so great because they're actually bad :P
They were good enough to win the war.
i quite frankly dont care about efficency :/ if im gonna get a engine for a plane, its gonna be a radial... why? becuase its sounds great, feels great, realiable, and timeless!
Those old engines sounds so awesome because they're technically actually very bad and inefficient (but back in the day they didn't know any better). Awesome video, thanx!
the German bomber actually has twin V12 DB engines.
The PT19 (just a few frames at 3:14, low-wing open cockpit) has the Ranger 6-cylinder inline. The German design, postwar Spanish-built bomber has two R-R V-12 Merlins. Originally as a German ship it had the Jumo engine, a V-12 I think.
just coming back for my daily dose! and the german bomber doest have radials, never did. They NEED to make 1000hp versions of these again
Women visit fashion displays, men go to airplane shows...
aviatorsbh well said!
The R-1820 is a 9-cylinder single-row radial engine. You also show V-1650 and V-1710 12-cylinder V-12 engines and the L-440 six cylinder inline.
What show was it and where?
i dont what it is about them, maybe its the layout, the oil it burns or the power they have BEST SOUND IN THE WORLD
Damn, it must be a god-send knowing how to do this yourself. Imagine what it would cost to take this to the dealership.
no theres nothing about that bouncy thos babies are for resale a little buff work like new haha : D works like a charm over a bump.
