    'Meeting 1000 Tudor People' sounds like a great addition to the Tudor lovers bookshelf. Time and again when researching history the 'supporting cast' are much more interesting than the main subjects. Also, annoyingly, even websites such as 'The History of Parliament' contain pages (especially in regards to 16th century Members of Parliament) that hold no information at all! Many thanks Carol Ann for this interesting interview. This book is now on my booklist.

    Many thanks Carol Ann and Lindsey for this terrific episode. Having read and enjoyed all of Jane Austen's novels, I look forward to reading the books recommended in this broadcast. I recently read, 'Dark Entry' by M.J. Trow (one of the Kit Marlowe mysteries). Set in a deliciously dark 16th century Cambridge, it provides all the necessary ingredients of a great murder mystery as well as a guest appearance from John Dee! Once more many thanks - Elizabeth Cumming.

    I have read Death Comes to Pemberley twice, and it is a very good read! I think I might have to read it a third time after listening to your podcast! I have also read several of the series in which Jane Austen investigates crimes. I enjoyed them as well, although I can't remember the name of the author...Currently, I am re-reading the Matthew Shardlake series, by C. J. Sansom. Remarkable series set in the Tudor times. Unfortunately, Mr.. Sansom died this last April while he was writing the 8th book in the series... Thank you Carol Ann for bringing us such interesting content and guests! I also appreciate your knowledge and the enthusiasm you always bring to your episodes. Try not to let the reduced amount of comments get you down...Take care!

    Sorry, there was no way pope Clement was annulment Henry marriage. He had given him a dispensation to marry. Plus he had a living daughter. Charles v was a good excuse for him not to. Btw, the pope had been correct, Anne Boleyn was not a suitable wife. Had she had a son, Henry would not have killed her.

    The Yorkists were also descended from a Beaufort. Cecily Neville, who was the mother of Edward IV and Richard III, was the daughter of Joan Beaufort, Countess of Westmoreland. Why are you asking a person who is not a native of England, in terms of heritage, about English history? His views are totally Tudor skewed. By the way, Elizabeth of York was proposed by her parents to be married to a number of nobles by her parents. Finally, Richard proposed to marry her to a Portuguese prince, not to marry his niece.

What crossed my mind was - the BBC have completed filming 'The Mirror and the Light', which will be screened on the BBC and 'Masterpiece'. It is due release either in the BBC Autumn Schedule - or the corporation may hold it until 2025 (the BBC have yet to decide ). If it was released September/Oct period (although admittedly a bit of a wait), it would allow the concluding part of the drama to be discussed alongside the novel. Also, just wanted to mention how much I look forward to your broadcasts. Many thanks - Elizabeth Cumming. @@carolannlloydshakeup

    Carol is wrong in her statement that testing the bones will not prove anything. The whole Tudor propaganda from Day 1 is that the bones WERE in fact the boys. If DNA testing shows the bones are not the princes, then the whole story is revealed as Tudor lie. Once you accept the Tudors lie then you have no alternative to accept that the precontract information (from a Bishop with no skin in the game) is in fact true.

    • @carolannlloydshakeup
      @carolannlloydshakeup 4 месяца назад

      The bones were discovered in 1674, nearly 200 years after Henry Tudor discovered the dynasty. I realize the DNA testing could prove those specific bones are or are not the remains of the "Princes in the Tower," but that is all. If they are the remains, testing would not prove how they were killed or by whom. If they are not the remains, we still don't know where the actual remains are, when/where/how the boys died, etc. DNA testing offers a specific amount of information, but in this case will not solve the mystery.
