Very helpful and eye opening episode. I knew the DAS system has recently been changed, but I didn’t know quite how much and why. Thank you Leslie and Becca for breaking it down for us.
It's definitely going to need some fine (or gross) tuning for sure, from what I could hear editing the episode and via other anecdotes
Ha!! I get your Atkins reference 😂 i refuse to use the new terms 😊
Great info shared. Thank you!! Any recs on the security gates at Disneyland hotel? What time should I line up to take full advantage?
Things are changing so quickly now that info in this video is already outdated! Sleepy Hollow menu changed and the waffle sandwiches are gone! Still, great stuff as always you two. Can't wait for the Flustered Joe and Frustrated Leslie Lightning Lane Multi-Pass and Single Pass discussion!
Lol to be fair we recorded a few weeks ago. I think you can still get spicy chicken on a waffle but it doesn't seem the same :(
@@disneydeciphered We totally jinxed the chicken and waffle sandwich by recording an episode a few weeks in advance. Totally cursed every time when we do that!
I am hoping when multipass comes out on the 24th you can let us know more about and the risk of trying to book 7 days before the trip and find all the tier 1 rides sold out by people who could books days earlier and they overlap my dates.
We hope so too. It's going to be tricky as neither of us have any early fall trips planned - we will do our best!
@@disneydeciphered I get to book my rides August 11. We will see if stuff is already sold out
Seabase Alpha was the old name.
Thank you! Lol we were struggling 🤦♂️
Legoland is in the regional area of WDW and has an actual driving school for kids without a track.
Good for kids of what ages? Thanks!
After the release of Lightening Lane changes, I cannot wait for Genie+ 2.0, or Lightening Lane 2.0, or whatever y'all will call the episode!!
Already stressing about it lol
-Tom sawyer island is very old and it's fine to go ahead and refurb it. It'd make a wonderful Encanto area, especially considering the river crossing features so much into the generational trauma in the movie. Or crush it and lean into the villains area they keep talking about + a haunted mansion restaurant. -We already have lots of little kid things at Magic Kingdom and we should. Fantasyland and Tomorrowland are almost all little kid stuff. -Agree with Tomorrowland Speedway. It's too bad that they've never figured out air floating/air hockey ride vehicles. Floaty vehicles would be neat. -Agree with the Seas with Nemo and Friends. It's cute but they could do better. -Mission space is a sack of garbage and always will be so I'm down for it to go away. Still say an Axiom ride that's nature-focused would be a nice bridge for the lands across the way from each other. Never gonna happen. -Star Wars Launch Bay can relocate absolutely everything elsewhere to One Man's Dream and out goes One Man's Dream. Because OMD is old and tired and needs to be retired. -I'm fine with closing Muppetvision IF we get a Disney+ permanent recording of it, just for history's sake. I'd miss it. But I'd also be okay with it going. But then, I'm a very big advocate of Disney doing this in general before they close their attractions. Do a POV ride-through (or sit-through for shows) and permanently capture it. Do multiple angles if needed. They have the time, the tech, and it'd be a very nice thing to be able to go through your D+ and rewatch old stuff we can no longer experience. I'd also kill for a muppets land. It's not going to happen because Disney doesn't understand what the muppets are and won't listen to the remaining people who do. -Rafiki's Planet Watch is fine but meh. The train is a problem. Also, Dinoland could exist if they'd just create an archaeology IP (live action) ala the mummy/potc kind of vibes. Instead, they're getting rid of everything dinosaurs. Craziness. Kids like dinos. -Kali River Rapids is weak, tired, and could be turned into something much better.
This is a lovely comment and not just because you basically agreed with everything we said :) joking aside, thanks for watching and commenting!
Tiana’s Hobby Lobby Waterslide
We're guessing that's not happening...
My daughter is a big fan of Disney. She's seen various videos stating that (I believe) the area of Dinoland USA is going to become some sort of Tropical America theme??? There was mention of Encanto and (in place of Dinosaur) they're thinking of doing an Indiana Jones Ride (like the one in Disneyland.). It is such a shame that they're getting rid of Dinoland USA. It has to do with animals that are pretty cool. So why get rid of it. You can refurbish Dinosaur and get rid of Triceratops Spin and the carnival rides. You can also get rid of Camp Minnie Mickey. I can understand that it's used as a meet and great and that there is some show there. But, other than that, what else is there to do. Get rid of that area and bring in the Beastly Kingdom (that was going to be there anyway before the budget was cut.)
Yeah that seems to be where Tropical Americas is going. We will miss the dinos as well but hopefully the replacements are good
As an international visitor to Disney World last week, I can list several changes that Disney could implement to improve guest experiences - and that doesn't even include rides! There were some really disappointing roadblocks/issues we encountered while there.
Yeah it sounds like it's been a rough month of June, would love to hear what you experienced so we can keep an eye out next time we go
I think that Buzz Lightyear Space Ranger Spin should go. I know the purpose it serves, but I feel like its time has passed and there could be a much better attraction put in that spot, even if they don't change the theme at all.
Oh yeah great call...Since I can never get 999,999 I think we can get rid of it :) (but it's definitely dated I agree!)
Just keep in mind that if you have at least 1 Little Girl & you meet a Princess, be sure that the Girl wears a Princess Dress so that the Princess can see the Dress.
Yes those interactions are so great!
My Disney Do: open up a free Disney Chase debit card for the exclusive character greeting opportunities
Yes we always forget about those great call
You are my people!!! My husband asked me how it made me feel to hear other people talking about Disney based on efficiency, and the answer is “awesome!” We are heading to Disneyland for their first time (my first since 2001) this summer, and I’ve been looking for tips without spoilers. I’m a WDW expert, but not Disneyland! Thank you!
Thanks for listening! I can't guarantee no spoilers in here (can't remember honestly), but we broke down Disneyland attractions by tiers here - hope this helps and have a great trip! ruclips.net/video/zz0EB0giWs0/видео.html
Love your content but it would be great if you mentioned the time of year you are at the parks. Since certain times of the year what you show in your videos are extremely hard to do and other times easy. Example using genie+ to go on tons of rides in one day. Easy off season, extremely hard on busy seasons.
Point taken. Realistically, we try to keep our content evergreen, so in general we are speaking towards "average" times. We do try to do episodes about busy times - Joe went to spring break after we recorded the Standby Skipper episode, for example, and was still able to get a lot of rides done even though crowds were 9s and 10s. On an average day it would have been even better
On joes afternoon stack did he tell skipper to find afternoon times?
Yes he did. Actually, if it was an option then, it may even have been "evening" times
Doing split stay and just did dining plan for 1 day since we always buy refillable mug and doing character meal
Love this!
Great information! We haven’t used the dining plan in so long, I didn’t realize what all had changed. Thanks!
Glad it was helpful!
Great video! I am always looking to get to the VERY front for rope drop, but I haven't been in a couple years and am trying to figure out when the security gates open. Is the official time around 7am? I've seen some data points but nothing really consistent.
It is right at 7 AM. Noticed when I stayed at the Grand Californian last week that people started lining up for that entrance at 6:30 at least, and the line was pretty long by 645, so to be right at the front of rope drop you have to be early for security too.
This was exactly what I was looking for! Thank you for the great content! Love all the strategy! Subscribed!
Thanks for listening!
The reason you are hearing people complain about everything disney, Leslie, is because disney is a rip off with cut services or no conceirge parking at really pricey hotels
I’ve stayed at boardwalk, yacht club, and all-star. You spend soooo much time at the parks, all I need is a cool place to sleep. So all-star is my jam. Walmart+ delivery. Lynx 311 bus from the airport for $2. It can be affordable if you do your research
@@cavy95naaaahhh..I’d rather complain.
Yes! This is the content I needed! I switched my Disneyland 2024 vacation to Disney world because I reserved with the free QS dining offer in January. And I’m still having fun crunching the numbers in my spreadsheets (yes I l❤ those), you confirmed or answered a few things I was wondering , and the saving of credits at the beginning was a big one! thanks 😊
Awesome! Let us know how it goes :)
Done that! Go Leslie!
:) Thanks!
As a Disneyland Vet, this was confusing. At Disneyland when you purchase Genie plus you get all of your photo pass photos included. Recently we just made our first trip to WDW To find out out you needed to purchase memory maker to get access to your photos was a tad disappointing. (Minus attraction rides).
It can be really frustrating because the rules are *slightly* different on both coasts, we've been burned by that too
Thanks for the good advice! We LOVE Carthay Circle Lounge which has a completely different menu than Carthay Circle which we don’t love. The Lounge has wonderful small plates and we eat there every trip - we like this even more than Lamplight Lounge which we also love. We place it above Napa Rose which we also enjoy but Napa Rose has such a small menu and we don’t eat big steaks/big hunks of meat so I wish they would add more to the Napa Rose menu.
This is good info to know - I didn't even know there was a difference though Leslie probably did. Thanks :)
I was looking for this! Thanks for the information 🙂
Thanks for watching!
I have a teenage son and he loves it still! Disney is for everyone! And you spoke to my heart when you said embrace it and do what you can while they still live with you.
Yes, Leslie really nailed it there!
Going this year twice and next year twice. And yes going to Epic yet we always go to both themes.
Nice! Enjoy :)
Thank you!! Everyone’s been saying « Disney’s offering a great new perk » with the check-in day water park, and I’m thinking it’s a half of nothing, like the dining promo card last year😂
I think it's slightly more than half of nothing - but not that much more except in extremely niche situations
Îm harsh on this because a better offer would have been a free entry any day of your stay. There are too many variables on a travel day(plus the water park closing time) that can make people not actually take advantage of the offer or make it very tiring to do so😅
Looking at sailings on the new Treasure ship and concierge is about 100% up charge from veranda now.
Yeah...it's getting rough out there. The Wish is like that as well, the older ships are a little "cheaper"
You said re-riding like it’s a bad thing. ;)
Lol did we? Depends on the ride I guess :)
Question: If I want to share my Memory Maker with a family of three (2 adults and 1 child), do I need to add all three to my family and friends list? (I don't think the child has an MDE account.) If yes, do they count as 3 members out of the 25 maximum that I can add to my list? Thanks!
So if the child has a band and will be using it to grab photos, then yes. Basically, any photos that are grabbed by any band - if you want those, you need to be friends with that person. But you can add them as a friend and delete them later if needed. Thanks for watching!
are there photopass photographer inside character dining restos?
No typically not. There are a couple - typically they are there only for the initial photo (like when you meet Cinderella going on). But while eating if characters come to visit it's all your own camera
We’ll be at Magic Kingdom during Spring Break so I think this will be very useful. Any chance of Disney shutting down someone’s My Disney Experience account for using Standby Skipper? That’s what I’d be concerned about.
There's always a chance but I think it's miniscule. They'll shutdown SS, not you
We always stay on-site, for all the reasons you listed! (And we always book with Joe!)
Thanks! :)
Is May alright in terms of weather and crowd? 14-18th May
It can be warm, but the full summer crowds haven't come in yet - so we like May! And it's not *as* hot as the dregs of summer (Aug)
Thanks for the monthly breakdown and tips! On Leslie’s last point about Universal in 2025, do you think summer/fall 2025 could see even better discounts than this year with the EPIC universe planned opening ? TIA
It's starting to feel that way - I'm not sure if Disney has any other answers besides a bit more entertainment and better prices - could be a good year for Disney fans. Definitely gonna be a good year for theme park fans :)
thanks
Any recommendations for which park offers the highest value for the After Hours event? MK vs HS vs EPCOT? I see that MK is priced the highest, and Hollywood Studios is the lowest. Great to see $30/ticket savings for APs!
Great question. I feel like Epcot is probably least value. HS if the lines are as short as some of the pictures I've seen might be most value in terms of cutting down wait times, MK obviously is most value in terms of number of rides you can get done per night. I've been trying to make those parties work but can't get the schedule to work!
I thought in January & February there’s a few cheerleading events which can increase crowd levels at the parks and the value resorts.
That's a good point and actually crowds have been fairly high this past week. It's not an exact science, of course. But just speaking odds wise, crowd levels should be lower now than spring break, fall, etc. (But maybe not summer?) Thanks for watching!
Ty
Thanks for watching!
I just found your podcast, and I love it!
Yay! Thank you for watching!
I hope they do some discounts beyond Oct 3rd I’m going from Oct 20th
We're sure they will - it's just a matter of time
Just spent almost a month on the Wonder sailing from Australia. Dec 23 to Jan 24. 4 adults 4 children. The last week just 3 adults and we upgraded to concierge 2 bedroom suite. Luxury plus! Lounge was nice, but couldn’t even get a cocktail before 5pm. Not too many extras included. Hard to go back to a regular cabin with balcony- yes. Worth it - no.
I wish you could book the suites without paying for the concierge portion! What was it like living on the Wonder for a month :)
We ended up getting that dining gift card for our visit which I prefer. It was a $720 credit which is nice but we can spend it on any food. I preferred that but there’s only 2 of us. Maybe the free dining plan would be good if there’s 4 or 5 in a room 🤷🏻♀️
Yeah we're not sure. We've started crunching the numbers...I think you have to do a lot of work to come out ahead. Breaking even isn't too tough but you may not have spent that much food to begin with. We'll have an episode on it soon once we're done doing some math!
@@disneydecipheredI can definitely see that.. I think Disney gonna get their money one way or another 🤣 it worked out for us bc we booked sit down meals for every night we are there, so that should pay for maybe 3 of them 😳 but in the future, we won’t be doing that. It was just my friends first trip and she wanted to do it up for her birthday.. so we plan on using that dining gift card for be our guest, artist point and prime time.. the rest of the meals and snacks, welp we took advantage of the Costco Disney gift cards and saved over $100.
You guys have some amazing trips planned!! Cannot wait to hear all about them!🥳🎉🥳🎉
Yay! Thank you!
Excellent🎉 thamks
Thanks for watching!
We did Concierge on the Wish. It was a pleasant experience but it definitely was NOT, in my opinion, worth the extra costs. The on board concierge team seemed very under-staffed on the Wish, which was very disappointing. (One time, it was faster to go to Guest Services.) Plus, as you noted, even Concierge guests on the Wish can’t always get a cabana at Castaway. On our next cruise (7-day on the Treasure), we’re not doing Concierge; sticking with a regular veranda stateroom. I rather spend the money on Palo, excursions, spa, drinks in the lounges, merch etc. My experience is that DCL provides such a great experience for all guests, Concierge is kind of a great way to fleece the gullible and the conceited. But just my opinion…
Thanks for sharing! I definitely appreciated it on the Dream, but yeah I feel like there are too many concierge rooms on the Wish/Treasure? I think we'd probably only do it again on a special occasion
I need to vouch for La Cantina de San Angel in EPCOT. Very delicious Mexican food. It might not offer Mobile Order, seating can be a pain, but it is a solid option!
I was the one who sold it so you can put that one on me. Favorite thing to get there?
@@joecheung7966 I tried the Tacos de Barbacoa on my last trip and was really impressed. Similarly, Rancho del Zocalo at Disneyland is very good theme park Mexican food.
