One of the best fights of Alexander Povetkin. I miss the young Anthony Joshua, though. Back in the day he was such a breath of fresh air. He brought such a spirit of sportsmanship with him, that all the slav boxers remembered their amateur careers and felt obliged to fight him just out of sheer love for their craft and professional interest.

Typical case of winning only because a genetic freak. Shrink him down to Povetkins size and power and he’s useless

He won because of a combination of his skills and his power, not just his genetics. Also, almost every champ has a genetic advantage of some sort.

Zhang KOed Joyce at 39 and Povetkin beat Whyte and Hughie even older. At 40 Hunter drew with him. Not to mention Ortiz gave Martin and Ruiz hard fights over that age, he slept Martin. We'll see how Beterbiev does at 40. Foreman won a title at 45.

Break it down though mate… Povetkin, Pulev, and klitschko were all damn near 40 or over 40 in Klitschko’s case and Parker was just looking to survive. whyte was very green at the time and it was a British title fight. He Certainly was not the fighter he was a few years later (although past his best now) and Ruiz was an over weight teletubby fighting at 2 weeks notice and he still got the knock out victory.

@MrAjh86 This Povetkin was still an extremely dangerous opponent, old or not, in fact several contenders were quite old because a lot of the previous generation was simply better than today's generation. AJ among all other heavyweights has the best resume today, it's not even a question.

Joshua needs more credit for this win. Keep saying Fury has beaten the top fighters, the two relevant fighters. Klitscko and Wilder. They are great wins, but Joshua has Klitscko on his resume to. Plus Fury vs Klitscko was close, it was also very lacklustre as Fury thought very sketchy to get the W. And never held up his end to a rematch, Klitscko deserved that rematch. Wilder was more an epic win, and definitely a classic trilogy. But won classic trilogy isn’t enough to be regarded the best in the division. It’s why Riddick Bowe isn’t held in the greatest regard because his biggest notable win came against Holyfield. Fury needs to nut up or shut up. Let the division fight and create its own era and legacy’s. The man is always on about retiring, says a lot about his mentality and legacy as far. This win was a golden win for AJ. Hell Povetkin was on a 7 win streak coming into this fight and after still fought young guns Hunter and Hughie Fury and Dillian Whyte. And beat them. Held his own. Joshua’s also notable win is Joseph Parker, former world champion in his twenties, prime years. And still now a top 5/8 world ranked fighter. If he gets past Joyce it will make Joshua resume shine even more brighter. Joshua’s best grade A wind are parker, and povetkin and Klitscko. Then grade B wins are Whyte, Brezeale, takam, pulev, Ruiz.Charles Martin. Grade C wins are molina, Cornish, Kevin Johnson.
