Harley Benton TE80 Madcat Review: flimsy hardware
Просмотров 1,1 тыс.6 лет назад
Just received my third Harley Benton telecaster model with faulty pickup selector. Is this the price of success with lacking quality control? Annoying since the guitar could just be great!

The new version has none of those issues. It also has a bound zero ratio neck.

Those are some bad controls. Surprising how bad.

you will probably get the custom II with pull/push knobs! Curious how that WILL EFFECT THE SOUND!

@@kietupke I got it. It doesn't have the push pull knobs but this guitar is kick ass. I ordered 2 because of the shipping was the same. The other one was a Blue Blast tele and the tuners suck. This white guitar is kick ass and I'm giving it to my nephew. Not sure what I will do with the tele.

I thought like the Black version, this would have a satin finish, only in white. That's a bit disappointing.

I must say, the visionary camera work is brilliant. the guitar is very nice. is it worth getting a B stock? its only a few dollars off....

2 REASONS: THIS GUITAR IS NO LONGER PRODUCED SO I HAD NO CHOICE BUT TO GO FOR THE B-STOCK ONE. SECONDLY IT WAS PRICED DOWN 35 PERCENT OFF MAYBE FOR THAT REASON!

I also have this guitar in black but without active pickups and it's a treat! I hope your guitar will give you the same pleasure

Many thanks for posting the video. It's very useful to see the reality of ordering a Harley Benton, both the good and the bad.

Got mine in 2016 and it’s pretty solid, no flimsy or loose hardware. I did send it in for a proper setup which they discovered ( don’t they always? ) it needed a fret level job. I’m really surprised with the tuners, the guitar stays in tune pretty well. I did change the pickguard to a replica of the leopard patterned similar to the one used on the MadCat. I actually own a real MadCat (2017) and it’s on a entirely different level of craftsmanship, I just fool with the Harley Benton more because I’m terrified of scratching the MadCat. Lol

wow, a real madcat… show us the vid please! By now I#ve gotten a new TE80 and I am really satisfied with it. They used a nicer pickguard too; more deeper red.

Thomann must get a lot of these sent back, but that doesn't seem to prompt them to improve the quality, so I assume that even at that price they must be making enough good profit to throw away the ones sent back (or do they put them back into stock? .......)

Sounds like they've started using cheaper parts. The pickup selector switch on mine wasn't nearly that floppy. The loose tone knob is an easy fix though. I didn't have the option of sending mine back from the US. Luckily there was nothing serious, like the frets. Thomann wouldn't even answer my emails.
