    Kessinger must love the idea of being a 'lightning rod' - anything for a spotlight. His misleading medical statements bring Rand Paul to mind. Is this the start of his political aspirations? I hope not...we don't need any more priveledged, arrogant, imposters in government.

    My hometown's council better get with the times before they find themselves run out on a rail. 1. Marijuana IS medicine. 2. Rolla CAN be a sanctuary city. 3. Sex work IS real work. 4. Older people will sooner or later pick up the feet they are dragging to keep progress from happening, or they will die off. Either way, progress is coming. Vote people in who believe in taking care of The People. We are The People.

    Here is the full City of Rolla Missouri Citizens Resolution: Policing Rolla for Progress July 4th, 2020 docs.google.com/document/d/1AicCfmj6pfl8La_gDUhQObXCjTeLQWmwz8nnCcOUQH8/edit The opening reads: City of Rolla Missouri Citizens Resolution: Policing Rolla for Progress July 4th, 2020 Resolution to Use City Taxes to Promote Shared Safety for Rolla Residents, and Civilian Police Oversight. WHEREAS, citizens of Rolla want to follow the lead of cities across the US in addressing racial violence and implementing and funding civilian-led social programs to get to the root of crime and create a stronger, healthier, safer community. We can do this by promoting education and properly funding our community, not further policing it. Continued policing of our most marginalized communities won’t solve the cycle of poverty; we have to invest in our community. When we come together to meet the human needs of all the people, crime goes down. WHEREAS, Cities, and School Boards across the US, such as the Stockton Unified School District (1), are creating resolutions to implement the “Shared Safety” (2) community framework. WHEREAS, the “Shared Safety” framework envisions a world in which “everyone can attain safety and everyone takes responsibility for fostering it.” It recommends that government institutions promote safety via a five-point blueprint. Shifting to a Public Health Frame Well-Being is Safety Crime Survivors at the Center Breaking the Cycle of Harm Making the System Work The most important section reads, "WHEREAS, Civilians and Rolla Police Officers who were present for the Justice for George Floyd! nonviolent action, which ended at the Rolla Bandshell, heard multiple testimonies of Black citizens and citizens of color speak about racial harassment and violence at the hands of fellow Rolla residents and members of the Rolla Police Force. No statement by police was put out after the protest in reference to it, but police told organizers and a few lingering protestors, “That kind of thing doesn’t happen around here” later that night while we were cleaning up. We had just heard hours of personal experiences of racism and police brutality at the local level. Police were not listening to the people of our community if that was the takeaway. Ultimately, this is a bad faith ask from Rolla Police when protestors have remained nothing but nonviolent in our community, and this further reflects the need for regular, anti-racist de-escalation training. If this passes, we fear what’s to come next: tear gas? More riot gear? When will the militarization of our police stop? "

    Congratulations to the new Rolla City Council Members. Thank you Rolla City Council members who were serving in March, and the hundreds of citizens who signed the petition for a stay at home order, we haven't had any COVID deaths in Rolla because citizens stepped up and the city council listened. Thank you new member Deanne Lyons for putting that petition together. You consulted with KC Tenants who had done a lot of research. www.change.org/p/mayor-lou-magdits-enact-a-local-sate-of-emergency-for-rolla-mo-to-prevent-the-spread-of-covid-19 This video link starts where the meeting is open to members of the public. The first to speak was Joshua Vroman. ruclips.net/video/1IVBmOmbLzM/видео.html According to him expecting people to wear masks is like the Jewish Star during the holocaust. We are very lucky to have people on the City Council who did not accept this trivialization of the persecution Jewish people experienced in Germany. All logical fallacies aside, the CDC still suggests people wear masks. www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/prevent-getting-sick/prevention.html This will prevent more outbreaks. Just as we had a speaker saying masks went against his rights, there was an Anti-Mask League in San Francisco during the Spanish Flu. People who didn't care if they got other's sick. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anti-Mask_League_of_San_Francisco The Anti-Mask League got their way and restrictions were dropped too soon. "But when the number of cases tapered off by November 1918, the city relaxed restrictions on the public too early, ultimately leaving San Francisco with one of the highest death rates in the US by the spring of 1919." "Spanish-flu infections seemed to dwindle by November 1918, and the city relaxed lockdown orders. When another wave hit San Francisco, much of the public - including "The Anti-Mask League" - resisted the mandates that city leaders reenacted to help blunt the spread of the disease. The city ended up with nearly 45,000 cases and over 3,000 reported deaths." www.businessinsider.com/what-san-francisco-can-learn-spanish-flu-pandemic-coronavirus-1918 Masks work and there are businesses and places of worship that are taking public safety seriously. I appreciate those businesses that provided their employees with masks, sanitizers, and the time and space they needed to keep us all safe. Joshua Vroman stated it is against his rights to have to wear a mask. He said that the City Council wasn't responsible for him if he spread hepatitis so why are they imposing regulations and being responsible for people spreading COVID-19. Vroman is employed as a Category Manager at Grellner Sales & Service, Inc and says his wife also works in food distribution. I too have worked in foodservice. Perhaps he isn't aware of all of the Health Department regulations in place such as hand washing, employees not working with fevers or other illnesses, proper surface sanitation, gloves all of the temperature controls in place to keep customers from getting hepatitis. Would you eat at an establishment that felt health guidelines in their restaurants infringes on their personal freedoms? I would not and now I know where not to eat in this town. Places like American Taco Company and maybe we need to find out what local restaurants Grellner Sales & Service, Inc distributes to.

    • @MaseryStar
      @MaseryStar 4 года назад

      Update 6/22/20 I sent a message to Grellner Sales and Services via a website contact form once I was informed they helped make sanitizer for first responders and the general public. Because of this, they may be open to my and other's concerns about employee Vroman's remarks about public health and his comparison of public mask-wearing to the Jewish Star during the holocaust.

    If you are sick, stay at home. If you are afraid of getting sick stay at home. I f you think you might be sick, stay at home. If you have a weakened immune system, stay at home. For everyone else who wants to work and go on with life, then go out and enjoy life. Work, eat at local restaurants, spend money and contribute to a productive society.

    You guys still have a relatively low number of Covid-19 cases. I hope folks from New York, Illinois, Michigan and other hard hit Covid-19 regions don't start invading your town. I listened to Broadcastify's Phelps County Police and Fire feed yesterday afternoon to find out how bad storms were in your area. And I heard that a Rolla area cop pulled over a Michigan driver. My question is what in the hell is a *Michigan* guy doing in *Rolla, MO* during a major health pandemic? Some folks, including that guy from Michigan, are only *me* minded people. My guess is if any of Rolla's residents knew about this, they were stomping mad!
