MenTalkHealth UK
Великобритания
Добавлен 2 дек 2017
MenTalkHealth is a registered charity that supports men in the LGBTQ+ community to talk about their mental health and help them understand that it’s okay to not be okay.
We work across the South Coast of England attending events and holding accredited mental health first aid training.
We feel that arming individuals with the tools to support themselves and those around them with their mental health can be of huge benefit.
We also produce a podcast that uses the platform to discuss mental health and we engage regularly on social media and our website.
MenTalkHealth has been a registered charity for a short time (2018) and as we lay our foundations, we are proud of what we are building, and we look forward to supporting our LGBTQ+ community and tackling the stigma of mental health.

Davey Goes The Job Centre!
Our Davey is trying to rebuild his life after a very hard year of poor mental health. However, trying to rejoin society isn't easy, especially when it comes to mental health & the Job Centre.
Losing his flat, unable to work and without money led Davey to two trips to A&E after becoming suicidal. Moving to Glasgow, he is taking back control and trying to rejoin the workforce full time as well as run MenTalkHealth. Except the scrutiny and treatment he receives on a weekly basis is harmful to his recovery. Even when he tries to help others, he's penalised.
Davey's experience isn't unique. People all over the UK struggling with their mental health are trying get back to work. Many will get wors...

No Shame In Taking Antidepressants

A cruel attack on those who are already vulnerable, scared and unsure by the very nature of their health issue. The Daily Mail and other media outlets would have you believe that we are a nation of drug addled, overly sensitive fools who will take medication rather than face our problems. The truth is we should be applauding and supporting those who reach out for help, not scare those who need ...

MenTalkHealth's Davey has been struggling with his mental health for many years but now he finds himself in an impossible situation. Should he hurt himself just to get the help he needs? Having struggled with a constant, strong desire to end his life he reached our for help before he went too far. Yet, like so many others in the UK, he finds himself without NHS support because he took the advic...
the mental health system is a scanal they dont want people geting better
decision maker=work coach when your waiting they are just mentally messing with you to make you sweat it out wondering whats happening its all wrong
Dave, please do not become a statistic for male suicide. The services that were meant to be there, were not. But as people, we are all there for each other. It is a case of connecting. Your video really hit home with me and I'm sat here at 2:45am and feeling way less hopeless than I did. Thank you x
I love your honesty. I personally feel that today's society creates the majority of mental ill health. I feel we should all be doing more for our mental well-being but 'life' gets in the way?! That statement blows my mind because surely we should live and enjoy it. But today's society is all about work/progress/succeed. What happened to being one with nature and out emotions?! Had a shitty experience with a counsellor recently too but I have decided that is on them, not me. It is however a step back for my confidence and makes me feel even more alone. I'm not on any social media Dave but message me.on here and I'm more than happy to chat. Feel we could share and support each other. Take care of yourself and never dim your light x
Bless you for your candour and for sharing this, Davey. 🙏💐The DWP is actively worsening mental health issues in exactly these ways. The system is rotten. So many others are suffering, too. I pray things are going better for you. Be strong. I believe the only solution is a Corbyn government.💐,🙏 Please find me on Twitter. @stopUKpoverty.
The DWP needs a complete overhaul where MENTAL HEALTH ISSUES are not being DEALT WITH CORRECTLY.
that wont happen the whole system is rigged to feed off people suffering and control them
i know how you feel. i dont have work ether no friends no gf no future. feel like scum myself especially by society standards . no wonder male suicide is on the rise
Absolutely agree with all this. Individual work coaches GET your complex journey and needs, but the DWP Does Not Give A F*** Keep on keeping on, lovely Davey.
It's not just their paper. It's the website as well which has a world wide reach so potentially someone anywhere in the globe could be misinformed or made worried by this article. It's not just the headline. The term is used repeatedly through the article which hints that vulnerable people are somehow too expensive. The truth is that untreated illnesses of all kinds cost the country billions. But more importantly these are our friends and loved ones. I wouldn't ignore it . Davey I've heard this story in the Brighton area so many times. How such a area of wealth have such high levels of homelessness and poor mental provision? I myself had to wait four weeks and pay £60 a session just to get fast track counseling. We need to protect amazing people like future Davey and future me. This should be the main focus of Westminster not spending billions on bombs and negotiating trade deals. We are fighting a war. We need to lift some research bans.
I'm so sorry to hear you are currently struggling so much Davey. As someone who also suffers from similar issues I know how much of a brave step it was to reach out for help, and to make this honest and heart-felt video. I'm shocked and saddened that the help you asked for was not there when you needed it the most. Treatment of mental health needs to be able prevention not reaction. You should not have to harm yourself to get the help you need. For some at that stage it could be too late to help them. In my opinion, that is not acceptable. This needs to change.
