I wanted to edit my video, so I took it down. To answer your question, an ICD will deliver a treatment for arrhythmia based on patient’s heart rate. If heart rate is faster enough and higher than a device threshold, the a ICD will deliver a treatment. If not, a drive won’t recognize that a patient having arrhythmia.

But, just theoretically it would still be a good idea for say a family member of a patient with an ICD to have an AED on hand as a backup in case of failed conversion by the ICD correct? I've read several studies that show that ICD recipient's that have other comorbid conditions (and are male) are less likely to have a fatal arrhythmia (cardiac arrest) converted (by the ICD) when most ICD's max energy output is only 40J. My thinking would be to have an AED standing by incase this occurs to deliver a higher Joule shock (as most can deliver up to 360J). Is my thinking wrong on this (if so please correct me)? I mean what would you do in this situation? Thank you ahead of time for your assistance!

If an ICD is functioning normally, the it should deliver treatments when you need. The Joule is lower since the lead embedding into your heart muscle. Thus it does not require higher energy like an AED device. It is not necessary to have a backup AED. Not sure how much an AED will cost. It’s all depends on how comfortable and how worried you are in your case.

There is a clear indication for Watchman device in some patients. Surgery to occlude LAA can be performed if pt will undergo any coronary bypass surgery. But I have never seen anyone undergoing a surgery just to occlude LAA since risk and complications from surgery outweigh its benefits, in my opinion.

That depends on other cardiovascular risk factors you may have such as diabetes, hypertension. Please discuss this with your doctor.

Read about Cayenne and Aged garlic. Possibly these can bring about much more circulatory improvement than aspirin. One pill of each daily. If you take it on an empty stomach you may "feel it." If so, drink kefir (or something like cheese) for relief.
