    I had good results with Meyenberg goat milkfrom Walmart for several months, but recently, the same product didn't produce kefir. The milk would not ferment. Cow milk works. Not sure if it's a bad batch of goat milk or if they started adding antibiotics?

    Thank you for your video. I do have a suggestion. Perhaps a different camera angle because we couldn't see how you were slicing the onions nor could we see how much water you used to cover the onions. We are seeing your hands and arms, but not seeing the food you are working with. Also, I don't can, so I'm not sure what you mean by "sanitizing" the jars. Not all viewers have the same level of knowledge, so I don't think you can add too much detail.

    • @milkweedfarms5481

      Thanks so much for the comments. I will take all of that into consideration in my future videos. Sanitizing the jars can be done by boiling them or pouring scalding water over them.

But my grains have never been "durable" or rubbery like it seems they should be and not stay above a spoon or even giggle like yours. If I stirred hard like that they would disappear. • @milkweedfarms5481
      @milkweedfarms5481 Месяц назад

      Yes. The more it devours the sugars out of the milk the more curdly it will be. It also matters as to how many grains you have. The more grains the quicker it uses up the sugars. Try not setting it out so long

Thanks I'm seeing many RUclips does love them I recommend them to Gardener Scott and he did and Prairie Plantgirl and she's repeating it saying that it has to do good 2 season before she's calling any tomato a keeper.She suggest that it might be great in ketch-up Thanks

    • @milkweedfarms5481
      @milkweedfarms5481 4 месяца назад

      You can test it as you go. Usually 1 day will not make it too sour. I will say that over time, I have developed a taste for the more sour flavor!

    • @truth2792
      @truth2792 3 месяца назад

      Add more milk, shorten ferment. The fresh addition of milk will refresh and sweeten the sour kefir. Set on counter 12 hrs, then put in frig. I've also added MAPLE SYRUP at times.

    • @gailv2989
      @gailv2989 3 месяца назад

      Try doing a second ferment. After you strain out the grains, add a bit of fruit to the jar and let it sit on the counter again for a few hours, before putting it in the fridge. I’ve used different berries, orange or lemon slices , dates. You only need a couple pieces. The microbes eat on the sugar in the fruit and the flavour of the kefir mellows and gets a little fizzy. PIt also boosts the vitamin content even more. You can reuse the fruit or peel for several batches.

    Our favorite tomato for sandwiches is Thornburn's Terra-Cotta. I'm excited to see what you think. Even my mother, middle child of PennDutch 400 acre dairy farm, asked all season 2023 for the Terra-Cotta tomatoes for sandwiches. We always grow Cherokee Purple which are delicious. Last year, I finally broke down and tried the Thornburn's Terra-Cotta (cost) and we were not disappointed. It will be in every tomato garden we grow from there on out.

    I also cooked mine for quite a while but they have found out from studies I think Ohio University that American elderberries are not as poisonous as those from other countries and they are OK to eat them raw. Of course that's in moderation. I've also found that straining them through a cloth and then squeezing them gets lots and lots more juice out.
