Kayaking Hopeville Canyon, WV
Просмотров 272Год назад
Each year, members of West Virginia Wildwater Association journey to Seneca Rocks for a weekend of kayaking. This weekend we all kayaked the North Fork South Branch of the Potomac River. Both the 10 mile cruiser course and the shorter more scenic and slightly more difficult Hopeville Canyon.
Hells Canyon rafting fail 7-22

Rafting the upper section of Hells Canyon on the Snake River. These are most of the bigger rapids including Wild Sheep, Granite and Waterspout. When you scout Waterspout Rapid and decide on the left line, hit the hole at the top. It tracks you farther right and makes it easier to avoid the hole at the bottom.

All of the crew were West Virginia Wildwater Association club members. Several with more experience than me. Several rapids on the New River Gorge in the New River Gorge National Park.

Kayaking on the Down Elk section of the Elk River in WV. Rated as class II-III whitewater, it is considered by many to be the best intermediate kayaking run in the state. At 11 miles in length and no long pools, it is enough to satisfy most any paddler. It is my personal favorite.

Lincoln Co. 6 mile Mt bike run
Просмотров 148 лет назад
This 6 mile 1 hour run is nearly in its' entirety. The climb to the top was deleted as well as stops. It has been compressed from 2GB to 600 MB and run in double time to turn an hour video to 30 minutes. The lower part of the run is a new trail and rather tough. I was in a little over my head as witnessed with several crashes.

What was the water level for Wild Sheep and Granite? We ran them a few weeks ago at around 16000CFS and it looked so much bigger!

Great video! I was running Hells canyon July 2022 as well! I flipped in the same exact hole - tried to make the same move... I was planning on skirting that top hole and just didn't quite make it far enough right at the bottom. Its nice to get to see a video that shows this well! I can't wait to get back in there and give it another go.

The rest of the group ran right through the hole at the top and just nipped the hole at the bottom. I know the line I'm taking if I get another lottery bid.

You and your kids were sheer joy when they entertained us that evening. Keep your kids on the water and your oars there too.

Hey brother, thanks for the video. In fact, thanks for all of your videos. I watch them regularly. I am looking to go paddle the Elk with my family next Saturday. We are beginner - intermediate. Would this be a good run for us? Where did you put in / take out, and about how lengthy of a paddle is it? Thanks a million!
