David Jason Del Boy DelBoy wedding speech
Просмотров 2,4 тыс.8 месяцев назад
While shooting a wedding one day the bride asked if I could pay attention to a visit from the best DelBoy impersonator in the UK. It was all very last minute as the bride wanted to keep it a secret until the last moment. I wish I had my gimbal-cam ready but I had about a minute to get ready for this. I hope the edit is OK for you.
Another MagLoop Vs Doublet video.

Another MagLoop Vs Doublet video. Edited slightly better than the last one. This time the MagLoop is running east/west and is NOT optimal for receiving stations to the south, the Doublet is also running east/west and IS perfect for receiving stations to the south. The Doublet should have beat the MagLoop but it's propensity to receive meant the MagLoop performed better.
Compare my homebrew Magnetic Loop for 40m band to a tuned doublet aerial.

Compare my homebrew Magnetic Loop for 40m band to a tuned doublet aerial. The loop is just 1m above ground level and the doublet is fed 8m AGL and is in an inverted-V configuration. Of course the doublet is hardly at the optimum height but in reality, not many of us can achieve much more.
Trombone capacitor for a small transmitting magnetic loop aerial

A brief video on the construction of a trombone capacitor for use on a small transmitting magnetic loop aerial. The capacitor should be suitable for more than 30 Watts, perhaps even up to 60 or 70 Watts.
MLA-30+ RX only magnetic loop aerial compared.

This is a short comparison video for the MLA-30 loop aerial. Read the notes on the video itself, you may have to watch it more than once. I'll do the same comparison but on 7MHz and 3,5MHz bands soon.
Robyn Black's I need a cigarette

Just for fun, Robyn and I decided to make a short video based upon Robyn's own track I Need A Cigarette. We'll do this again and improve it....well it was out first ever attempt :)
Trailer re-cut of a street that is green. How about 'The Grass is Greener'

Trailer re-cut of GreenStreet. Instead of the original 'good guy gets stitched up and turns bad guy' story, it has been turned on it's head to become 'bad guy decides to go straight' story
Are the two capacitors in series (both fixed legs of the trombone connected each to one end on the big loop)?
So Xmas ?
GREAT FOR 10 SECONDS THEN HE BECAME SO SO SO SO BORING!!
The sound could be better.... From one professional to another....
very nice! and well explained
I just looked for a part 2. I'm quite curious as to how your Loop turned out. I can just kick myself because I had a Vacuum Variable Capacitor years ago and gave it away. I want to build a Loop someday so I've been watching for Capacitor ideas.
Brillant idea and well constructed.
No measurements?!
👍
I find it fairly fortunate that that conduit fit so nicely inside your outer trombone tubes. Have you published the specification for that tubing and conduit? This is definitely something I'm probably going to want to give a go.
Thats amazing difference. I've always been put off by these antennas due to the high voltage on the capacity. Anything over 9v and i get nervous! (ie anything that will make my touch tingle). I'm plagued by broadband noise in my area, and i think I'm going to dust off an old mag-loop project and give it a try. YT is a real powerful medium for sharing of these ideas. Very inspirational. Thanks for taking the time to share.
Very tidy. I've been doing something similar with copper pipe, but doubled up on the trombone idea to increase capacitance. Not tried it yet, its been one of the projects sitting in the shed for a while - you have inspired me to go dig it out and finish it off! Thanks for sharing.
Did you find you were able to null-out any noise by turning the loop. Likewise, peak the signal from that barely-audible station by rotating the loop?
very nice de VU3FTP
question.... what amount of transmit bandwidth does it have??
have you measured the capacitance of the cap?
send me a project please
Two sets of this in parallel, may tune 80 meters
How power do think the capacitor can handle?
what bands will it tune with that capacitor?
It was meant to tune through the 40m band and that is exactly what was achieved.
@@mw0gbr1 nicely done!! How did you size the capacitor for the band?
I designed for 40m band and it worked a treat!
I used to basic maths found on the internet for calculating the capacitance, it's just the plate size according to the size of pipes used. It worked well.
@@mw0gbr1 How long were the "trombones"? And more important, what is the highest freq you manage to have the magloop resonating? In other words, what is the minimum capacitance you obtained?
Charles, after a month, you certainly deserve more views/likes. It's a very well done vid as is your implementation of the trombone which is a credit to you. Must be the cleanest implementation I've seen! Please be honored that I'll copy your design/method 100%. Hat Tip to you, Sir. I've had some copper pipe laying on the floor for months for the same use and your vid just showed a Cook Book method of getting on with my long delayed project. It should become a Classic! I got sidetracked with an EFHW Inverted EL late last fall and then a nasty incidence with a Snow Blower rendered my 100Ft LMR400 rather usless for the time being. Ouch.... Again, good job and I just subbed. Glad to read that the loop works well. 73 Russ in NH ..
Can I use mla 30 with icf 2010
What a difference !! wow , mag loop are awesome thank's for your vid . 73's
Thank you for posting. I am just contemplating building my first trombone capacitor, and these are great ideas.
The Magnetic Loop is working well, I'll leave some comments about how it's performing, but first, I'm about to post a video comparing the mag loop to a doublet. Good luck.
Incidentally, I think you're gorgeous.
Really love your song and vid. But you really should pack the ciggies in. Regards from ex smoker Tom.
+steve bloggs Actually, the performer doesn't smoke anymore :) Thanks for your comments Steve.
+charles ward: So good to hear Robyn has kicked the habit, onwards and upwards. A star in the making IMO. Thank you Charles.
