Hello everyone. My name is Billy Donald. Welcome to Donald Farm, where we will show you the enjoyable and challenging hobby of beekeeping in Northwest Florida. My wife, Shelley, and I started beekeeping 4 years ago on our small 20 acre farm. The first few years were a struggle as we learned the hows and whys, ins and outs of beekeeping. Adding pollen patties.

We are installing beetle traps using apple cider vinegar as bait and vegetable oil. We will also be adding swiffer sheets. It is prime beetle season right now so we have to do what we can to keep them in check.

Looks like our weather will start clearing Wednesday so I will start checking for larvae and see how much they have consumed.
Boric acid works on beetles. A bit slow to kill, but it works. I used the beetle jails for a while and then went back to the beetle blasters. Then I quit with all of them. But the little traps you showed definitely work. Folks use them and see good results. Hope you get them built up. Watch for those beetle larvae after a couple days of the patty being in there. Take care my friend!!
That’s not 24 ounces!
The bottle weighed 1.1 oz and total was 25.8 ounces. That’s actually 24.7 ounces of honey.
Good to get after them before they get to bad. Blessed Days...

Do you give the bees 1:1 sugar water in the summer? We are in North Texas, it's hot, and since we are just getting started we don't know what's correct? TY
I don’t unless they get low on honey. In northwest Florida something is nearly always blooming. May not be enough to make honey but usually sustains the hive.

Good deal. They mostly work in my experience. I was surprised when two of three of mine failed, but I also added small colonies to huge queenless colonies with tons of field bees.
I was worried when I saw strips of paper the next day. Thought they may have merged to quick.
U got to scout ur àrea with in 4 miles it doesn't matter how ßtrong ur hives rif the flow is not there ur hives will not produce

Good plan best time of the season to do it, you don't loose BeePower that way.👍Blessed Days... I'd do the same thing. I find that if I hold the frame in the middle with 1 hand good and solid and then hit the back of my hand hard with my other palm I can shake the bees off. You are right you have to take a soft hand to those foundationless frames some times.
That's what I am hoping. I'll go in it this weekend and see if the queen made it.
They wasn’t bad till I got down to the brood area. One actually got me on the top of my head thru the veil. Not having any hair doesn’t help.

I ain’t the only one that grunts!!😂😂. I’ve found no difference in premier or acorn when a flow is on. Rite cell either. What in the world do you have on the top of your head? They were flat out after the top of your head. That camera caught it really well😂
I DOUBT IF THE REST FORAGERS OUTSIDE WILL FIGHT UNTILL NIGHT.
I didn’t see much fighting that afternoon. Hopefully they worked it out.
