Imagine the situation in Gaza (Palestine) where the numbers have far exceeded that. Before anyone argues, I'll give you an example of propganda appeal: at school, what have you been taught in more detail about WW2? The bombing on Pearl Harbour or the Atomic assault on Hiroshima and Nagasaki? Yet which one was more devastating? Exactly.

This topic is so incredibly nuanced that the opinion of whether or not they deserved it isn’t even in the question anymore. No, of course the people of Hiroshima and Nagasaki didn’t deserve such horrifying fates. But the Japanese are a very honor-driven society. They were already willing to sacrifice their soldiers in kamakaze attacks, what else wouldn’t they sacrifice to try and hold out a little longer. They refused to surrender, and we gave them plenty of chances. The US government knew they needed a swift, decisive end to the war. The bombs were the only way to ensure that. And while innocent civilians didn’t deserve to die like that, the Japanese Government officials certainly did. The frivolous horrors that Japan committed during the war is truly mind boggling.

There’s also Japan’s “Comfort Girls” in WW2 too. Either way the bombings were still horrible and undeserved to the thousands of innocent civilians and environment but Japan shouldn’t be treated as nothing but a poor victim in WW2.
