Просмотров 11614 дней назад
Directly adjacent to the Saugatuck River Bridge lies the Westport, Connecticut train station. This station along the busy New Haven - New York stretch of Amtrak's Northeast Corridor serves Metro-North's New Haven Line. Amtrak Northeast Regionals, Acelas, and Vermonters also pass this station at a glacial pace, unlike other stations along the corridor. Linktree: linktr.ee/northeastern_rail_films...

Просмотров 2,5 тыс.21 день назад
For the first time in over 30 years, the Edaville Railroad operated a steam-powered freight train across their line through the woods and cranberry bogs of South Carver, Massachusetts. On this cold December morning, locomotive #3 hauled three flat cars and one hopper car across the line while locomotive #11 hauled a passenger train to transport the photographers to each photo location. All Aboard Amtrak - Musical Trains 10
This is quite interesting from my British point of view. We use Run-round as well to describe the loco changing ends of the train. We refer to a "Horn Show" as simply "giving Tones". And "Dead Heading" is just an ECS move to us, a short hand term for "empty coaching stock", which is different to a "light" move, as that is a loco only, no carriages or wagons
Thanks for the info! Very interesting.
great ca t cheese and video of this visitors steamer farewell run towards the end of its visit to this railroad
I’m glad you enjoyed the video!
Deadheading can also mean to move a crew around without having them work on the freight side, i.e. deadheading a crew from an away from home bunkhouse back to the main terminal or vice versa. It can be done by putting the crew into a second unit, or even by taxiing from one city to another
😮 Awesome! ❄️🚇❄️
Thanks!
I’ve also seen “Running Light” used similarly to “Deadheading”, at least in literature relating to the Manhattan Els
Wow, winter fury
Number 611 has been in a training record long time ago. When she was at 8 on northbourg and Western, I do believe when she was back in original days. She was repaired, though use and tell retirement and then basically somehow she ended up in preparation. I still am doing my research. About her
Yeah, I'd say tackling the downtower, just to the apparel light on the front of the train. Also, the marker lights of the front of the terrain and the azza part of the usually the lights and the passenger cars and sometimes cargo cars. If they need to have light in them, you have to power the lights in the cab. Are the trains? Are they to see the gages? The temperature and how much water pressure they have, which is very important on a theme logo mortal, to make sure you have enough water, and they also power the old news to power. The also the capucus, as well. That would have the marker corner light as well. For the kubushes, where the all of the conductors would be and the people that would also be there when they did a shape. Shipment of freight They also had the people there that would help the people that would also be. I get sure they're running on time. But also at the same time, they have extra people in there to make sure if the air brakes failed, they had emergency handbrake people in there as well. Some trains even carried a passenger and freight service part of it was a male car or part of it with a cargo car. Some even passenger trains even had in the United States. Had a mail car,/cargo and passenger car put together, or some of them even had 2 of those cars didn't even put in their train lineup. In other words, it had A Cargo mail and passenger service train, which is very rare back in those days, but it was more common than you think. Back then. Before electricity they had on the trains to they had kerosene lanterns and wooden Crane cars, which was very dangerous. And he also used electricity for the heaters in the passenger cars before that, they were using wood stoves as well, which were more dangerous if they bumped into something or had a bad bump. The oil lands where victorious, for falling off, sometimes or cracking, if they were glass and that they were metal like a house one a antique metal 1. That you have around your house. You'll notice if you like, at the kerosene lanterns. They always spring a lake when they get too cold or or when they get used so much. The heat Weathers and warp, some and causes them to leak. The same thing happened on the train. So yeah, there are a lot of car fires I imagined, but I'm not sure. That is pi, y, since in nineteen fifteen, they pi made it standard to how trains have electricity and better.Yet they could have a better than a kerosene lantern That's on the front of the train that they had to try a light while it's moving or stop and make the train service and that they let it before then it would run out of fuel. So they had to keep stopping every time it got dark out and lighting it and there was a safety concern. But the people some people back then didn't bother with it. Make an electric. I made it more capacitable and more easier for the firemen and Engineer to drive the train. Also if you notice there's 2 quill corner lights on this side of the boiler and one brake headlight in the middle, the headlights in the middle. And usually there's null2 smaller lights off to the side called corner marker lights later on those corner marker lights turned in. Came in years again and the eventually turned it into what they now call a wig wag. I think they call it. As the blinking light on the back of a train and matter of fact, on the Union Pacific big boy, they were out to able to run computers and get it out through Monday railroad standards. With this referring, oil and keeping 2 extra tenders for water. But at the same time, instead of running it on steam pressure, due to the electric generator able to produce enough electricity to run the computers. And all the updated versions of the safety equipment, it had enough power to do all of that. Because the rest of the train ran on steam and there's enough steam pressure always to make the electric motor that generates electricity or the alternator electric alternator generating enough electricity to power all day monetary standards to its up to code. Today, now that the Union Pacific got it back in the restored condition, we need to bring back Moir, steam locomotives. I think they're a sight to behold, and they have more. I'll bless a tractor effort. You have better grab. They may be slow to start, but they have better pulling abilities
I’ve been to this railroad multiple times, seeing 3025 up close is peak
3025 has a year or two left, that's why the valley is buying another loco
don't forget dpu
I'll have to remember that for part three!
Beautiful sound
I have seen a few horn shows! Acela had a really nice hornshow. I just love how friendly the drivers are! The videos on my channel if anyone wants to see!
It’s always nice to see a friendly engineer blowing he horn for us!
@northeasternrailfilms yeah it is!
Well, there are mixed traffic engines. And freight engines can be used on passenger trains, and vice versa.
You are correct.
Air compressor and generator for the lights and miscellaneous electrical power.
I Love You Amtrak Acela Express Trains ❤️🚆❤️

Steam-powered dynamo, everyone knows that. What most folks DON'T know is how incredibly simple, compact and tough it is. And able to work over a wide range of steam pressures too. Pretty much used the world over for electric power on a steamer...
New hope lvyland
For anyone wondering that whirling sound is the dynamo thats used to convert steam into electricity to power things like the headlight and lighting on passenger cars
(Today is January 18th and my birthday is tomorrow and seeing this locomotive running on the tracks brings me joy, I’ve loved locomotives since I was around the age of 12.)
That's awesome! I hope you have a great birthday tomorrow.
@ thank you!
Thanks for the advice I am working on a project from my teacher and I will put this!
You're welcome! I hope it helps with your project.
A steam generator.
I bet she could push the DeLorean up to 88mph!
When will it come back 😭
Hopefully we get an answer soon.
Awesome video! I was there that day and it sure was a great moment!
I'm glad you enjoyed it!
Small trains, a heck ton of smoke
Too much text on screen.
I like how it’s giving the illusion that Thomas is pulling the coaches when it’s really #3025 pushing the whole thing lol
Love the stack talk what railroad is this
This is the Edaville Railroad in South Carver, Massachusetts. Thanks for watching!
Welcome
That whistle sounds so cooked it’s beautiful
Very epic
I just love watching train videos, considering that I AM a train
Because they sound nice
Der
The SP Cabforwards air compressors were not routed through the smoke box like just about all other steam locomotives. The Cabforwards air compressors were routed straight off into the air which created there unique wheezy-coughing sound. It's a unique noise to the SP AC's
I did not know that. Thanks for sharing!
@northeasternrailfilms You're welcome.
That sounded like the dynamo two
Yes, the humming sound in the background was the dynamo.
Thats a great sound coming from monson 3 there. Shes got some good bark to her sometimes.
Indeed she does!
you need to in better detail explain the fact that there are two separate pistons, one for steam, on for air. And how the air is used for brakes
That X sound is from an electric generator.
Really wish metro north would fund upgrading the line to allow for higher speeds, and concrete ties.
That would be nice to see.
@northeasternrailfilms as far as i know, the catenary is original nh
@ Yes, I believe most of it is.
Here in the Philippines too. When i trainspot the crew horns like 5-10x in 30 seconds and i love it.
Steam driven air compressor. The ones that are compound dont make near the sound the single stage ones do.
Nah the Roanoke J class could go faster than an Amtrak a.m. seven that’s crazy
Well, not quite. The top speed of the N&W J-Class was 110 MPH while the top speed of the AEM-7 was 125 MPH. With that being said, it's still crazy to think the AEM-7 could only go 15 MPH faster than the J-Class.
Awesome and I also just subscribe to you
Thank you very much!
@ your welcome
I hear Glenn Miller was on a train ride to Chattanooga when he wrote the song.
That’s a cool fact!
I’ve sung the song multiple times at my local railroad museum during jazz gigs. We always tell the railroad story with it
@@nssrrailfan Nice!
I first learned about these from the movie "unstoppable"
