I have looked and looked for information on how to convert a th400 with a custom output shaft that has the 27 spline of th350 that connects to the 27 spline input of a np205. I hope this information can help someone.

Don’t waste your money on Eastwood versa cut 60! I have had nothing but trouble with Eastwood and their POS equipment. I can’t get anyone to respond from Eastwood. I had only used this machine once since I bought it to remove a quarter panel. It wouldn’t create an arc so I was forced to spend a 115 bucks and had to wait over 2 weeks for a consumable kit (pre coronavirus). Replaced all consumabl...

I bought a 60 also and when I got the fan didnt work so they sent E another one. I used it for maybe 5 foot of cutting. It did fine. Then the very next time I went to use it the damm thing didnt work at all. Eastwood was absolutely NO HELP..Its now been sitting on the cart covered up for about three years now. Total waste of money...I could have bought several Chinese models for what I paid for the Eastwood and probably still be cutting...¹

Where is the stand off guard that keeps you off the metal??? That's your issue!

That piece that your ground clamp is hooked to is aweful rusty. Grind it clean so you get good conductivity. I bring this up because it doesnt look like you are getting good ignition. You can cut dirty metal with a plasma cutter but your ground surfice needs to be clean for a good connection. It looks like the tip of your torch is actually grounding out. Not sure if this is your problem but I know there is a lot of operator error out there and the first thing blamed is the machine. This is an old video but Im putting it out there anyway.

Why not just change your TC input shaft? That would be the best, and strongest way to do it

I have a th400 with 27 spline output shaft that came from a camper and I have a 27 spline np203 that came from behind a 350. I have the old cast iron adapter but I haven't started trying to fit everything together yet, I have been thinking of waiting to get a 4l80e and add a doubler. I haven't started working on my project yet though

Thanks for the video and suggestions. I was looking at a used VC60 and the asking price is so close to the new price I was considering buying a new one. I've never bought anything from Eastwood but almost did last year and was put off by their marketing techniques. While reviewing this model I bumped into your tale of woe and am glad I did. I think I had better pony up the extra$$$ and get a Hypertherm.

I just bought the Versa40 and it works really well. I wanted the 120v flexibility. My first task was to cut an 11" hole in 1/4" stainless and it was like cutting butter. No skipping. Using a Rigid 45200 compressor which runs allot but seems to do ok with the amps at 30 and the air at 60psi. I did put a inline Desiccant Dryer at the cutter. Happy so far

Bought a truck with a th400 and it came with a np205. I have not taken it apart but it should be 32 spline male out of the trans and 32 spline female input on the np205.

I have had same issue with my Versa cut 60. I also sent for extra consumables from Eastwood. They are not interested in being helpful. Just want to sell, sell, sell. Which I understand, and don't really hold against them. However, in the field of Welding, I have found, and I am of course a novice, but generally it's the same in any field. Some have learned that helping out folks is beneficial to your business, and improves favorable cliental response. However I feel as though this company is mainly interested in sales, and devotes little time to folks that ask for product advice. I've also decided to turn this Versacut 60 into a tig machine. I'll let you know how it turns out. Just starting with tig.

Something is wrong for certain. But they’ve sold a lot of these, so I find it hard to believe it’s that bad. Are you sure you have enough air? I don’t know the manual, but using 40 amps requires at least 6 CFM at rated pressure, which for plasma torches can be anywhere from 70psi to 125 psi. 50 amps can use 7cfm or more, and 60 amps can use up to 9. Considering that you have to derate a compressor for plasma by 50%, that gives a fair size compressor. I know that you just started the cut, so it may not seem to be a problem, but what is the pressure set to? The dial looked pretty low to me. If you don’t have enough air, you’ll burn the tips up almost instantly. It’s the air that pushes the plasma out of the torch, and the tip.

If you’re burning up your consumables like that, your air pressure is not adequate and/or you do not have a dryer hooked up to shop air. That machine can handle everything you can throw at it.

You should run your air at 70psi and check your ground and specially dry air line.it happen one time for me before

    • @smallmouthfreaks7609

Thats definitely most likely caused by insufficient air pressure and dirty air(water) in air. Add a water trap and bump up your pressure
