REVIEW: THE PRIMEVALS - STOP MOTION LOVE.
Today we are reviewing The Primevals, a movie out of time. Bouncing around since Hammer Films and 1968, this story of a lost valley of monsters and ape-men, aliens and reptilians, gives off strong vibes of everything from H. Rider Haggard and Indiana Jones, to the Cannon and Empire B-movies of the 80s and 90s. But what makes it worthwhile viewing is that this is stop motion animator, David Allen's passion project, something he pursued through much of his career and which his friends and associates finally finished for him decades after his death. Behind the scenes, this movie was a testament to following your dreams and doing what you love, to passion and ultimately to love and loyalty. S...

MOVIE REVIEW: NOSFERATU (2024)
Просмотров 95414 дней назад
Nosferatu 2024, a gorgeous but dull and soul-less remake of the F.W. Murnau classic from 1922, and the Herzog edition from 1979. An utterly unnecessary movie, made by a film school graduate, for other film school graduates. A horror movie for people who don't like or understand horror movies. A movie as dry and bloodless as Count Orlock himself. Featuring the dullest, crankiest Vampire ever to ...

Turn your brain off and just enjoy it. This is a throwback to the old fashioned Drive-in B-movies. I had a lot of fun with this, it was definitely a guilty pleasure. It's an amiable action horror movie that moves along and delivers the goods like a trash classic, just don't ever stop and think about it for even a second. The Stop Motion I've seen from it is magnificent. I don't think art forms become "obsolete". Stop Motion will also have its place in children's movies and I think it still works well for fantasy pictures, where hyper realism isn't the goal. Photography didn't make painting obsolete. It just made it more focused as an art form.

Great video. I had heard about the project and what had been happening with me movie throughout the years, but I also didn’t know that it had been finished. Thanks for sharing. With that being said I don’t think about stop motion animation being obsolete, it is a different type of art, which can be enjoyed just the same for who is into it.

Wow l remember this saga from when it was first announced in the starlog magazine. At like a bride at the alter waited for this project to come to fruit. Also remember the film “Equinox” having the same problem but thankfully was unshelved a few years later. I still love agreat stop motion movie but like the armature that holds the animation model together a decent screenplay has be developed to hold the story together and provide interest to the characters as well as the overall narrative which it’s presenting this why the harryhausen stuff still holds up. Thanks for posting! ❤

I was somewhat surprised to find that the female lead was someone I should have recognized from my childhood years for her role on the series Nanny and the Professor. A sort of Flying Nun idea where she is normal except for having some sort of paranormal powers. perhaps if the talky aspect was slimmed down and they held on until they could afford to shoot the River rat scene, its overall pace might have been better. I would still watch Zepplins vs Pteradactyls!

it caused a Billion people to die the first year of the Rare super moon Globally. Super moons only occur realistically according to NASA and google 3 to 4 times a year, However the premise is that they only Just begun the following year turning people into Werewolves through a Gene mutation, Unexpectedly. Also, Not every human would be outdoors or looking at the moon during the event and also, we can say cloud cover, thunderstorms/ etc. and people just being asleep indoors makes this film make a lot more sense thinking about it realistically. Also, it's supposed to be a Fun movie and obviously not to be taken seriously, just like the Purge and other unrealistic films. I'll bet if it makes a sequel, they'd dive into what happened and How.

Unfortunately, we conceived this to celebrate the impending fifth episode. But it ended up way back, overlooked in the Queue. I don't wish to write the Great American novel. I'd be happy with a modest Canadian novel. I agree with 85% of what is said here. There is no one way to write, there is no secret formula, everyone has to find what works best for them (e.g., pantser vs plodder, binge writer vs write every day, morning or night, etc etc) Courses, workshops and self-help writing books only get one so far. I think they can be helpful, understanding some basic rules of the craft is useful, but there is a danger of obsessively attending workshops or reading texts which can get in the way of actually writing. Courses in creative writing are useful in that they give one an excuse for writing --"Yeah, I'm going to university/college at the moment" stops people asking, when are you going to get a real job. but they also pose a couple of dangers. Many programs focus on critique seminars rather than explaining craft knowledge which ends up as mutual adirmation societies or the opposite --harsh negativity--and neither is particularly helpful. One can find critique circles for free and with better odds of finding compatible writers. The other problem with university creative writing programs is that they tend to push literary rather than commercial writing, i.e., a certain dismissal of genre and elevation of literary greats. Thing is, we already have a Margret Atwood, so learning how to be a second rate Margret Atwood interfere with developing ones own unique voice. So possibly useful, but not the only or best route to writing success. So, generally Valdron is right

I will never understand the blind praise im hearing for Romulus. Everyone is praising Romulus for exact same issues that they constantly trash Prometheus and Covenant. The characters are flat and forgettable. The writing for them is nonexistent most of the time. The acting is completely dispassionate... or talentless, however you want to look at it. The fan service is completely inappropriate for a serious Alien film. Not even Resurrection stooped so low as to directly quote better, better movies in the franchise. As a fan, the "Get away from her you b****" line was completely insulting. How or why would they try to cheapen Ripleys glorious moment in Aliens?? This is how i rank the franchise: Aliens Alien Prometheus Alien Covenant Alien Resurrection AVP Alien Romulus Alien 3 AVP: Requiem

Good review. "Dot and Bubble" was reportedly an RTD1-era script rejected t the time because it would have cost too much. The racism stuff was tacked on and felt to me that way. I found it underwhelming and Eurocentric. Gatwa is a Tutsi refugee from Rwanda, where Tutsis were slaughtered by Hutus at three times the rate the Nazis killed Jews. There is so much to work with there for a more engaged writer. I'm pretty sure where the money went: to some episodes that we shall never see because Disney nixed them as too sexual. You may remember last year when RTD was talking about how 15 would spend a lot of time trying to _plook_ Ruby's boyfriend. What boyfriend? Exactly.
