Keep making videos a joy to watch
Funny that, I've been working on getting my Wrangler going after almost 4 years. Stupid connector on the wet line to the slave cylinder (in the transmission), currently dealing with the old fuel issue. Glad to see the old cj running
Hey Jared, awesome to see the van again, and good to see Sam and Lilly on the tools! also, nice looking steaks 😆 keep up the good work, God bless from Aotearoa , New Zealand
Thank you! I appreciate you watching from the other side of the world.
Fav cereal! Correct answer, but the best was the finish. Used the milk left over with coco to dip the peanut and jelly sandwich.
😂
Firstly i hope you all had a fantastic time at the speedway, secondly what the deal with the tarantula spider 😮 are you that far south, i thought they only found them in the Amazon. Not my cup of tea, you wouldn't see me for dust 😅. Now im puzzled, your front whee seemed to turn freely but now they rub , no doubt you have it sorted out now but very strange. Now i don't usually say too much about children, but on this occasion may i say you have two wonderful children and you and your good lady must be very proud of them. God bless Gary 🇬🇧 🇬🇧
Thank you for the kind words Gary! Tarantulas are fairly common here. The Tarantula Hawks that hunt them are even crazier. Nightmare fuel.
Yahhhhhhhhhh!!! another Texas Hillbilly episode!!!
Thanks for watching!
If they don't want to watch, their loss, you work and do dad, people need to realise it's what you can do and that's all you can do, but some get unsubscribed by YT , van's coming along great, good job hope yous get to holiday in it trouble free, thanks for sharing, all the best to you and your loved ones
Thanks so much!
Dark side......... Of the moon of course
Bro! I didn’t know you watched my crappy videos!
@@TexasHillbilly not crappy. Amazingly good!
To help clean the Clumpy Oil, go buy 4 5quart jugs of cheap transmission fluid. Fill up the engine with trans fluid(add diesel fuel too if you want), let it sit for a week or two then drain it. The trans fluid will clean the inside of engine & lubricate the seals. Best of luck! Love your channel! Greg from Frisco
Good tip. Thank you!
@@TexasHillbillyI worked as a Service Advisor & Manager at a Ford dealership for 22yrs so I learned some tips from my techs. Trans fluid is a great cleaner. Watching you do the brakes on the van, Sam doing the yard! 😂
Sir, those calipers need a full kit replacement!!! I won’t drive my family with those.
okie dokie....
Texas Hillbilly: Empty curb weight ( running bare she'll) of a long wheelbase and stretched van is more in the vicinity of 6,500lbs-7,000lbs. Start throwing things at it behind front seats ( seats, interior, carpet, whatever): 8,000+lbs is more like a real number. It's why having decent load rated tires/ properly inflated on a van is so important.
Honestly, the rite tyer is always my first, to check, one time my dad was cruising at about 140km/h the tread separated with a bang, in a For LTD 77 model, not good 😂😅 I like van's all the best to you all
Your probably right. She's a big ol' girl!
Hey with that upper radiator leak with a hose rubbing on the tank like that you might be able to just Silver solder with a little light torch action and it might seal it right up
Ill try that before I look for a replacement.
Hey man is there a junkyard close to where you live cuz I can bet you can find a lot of those parts like that pulley you could probably find it in the junkyard cuz they don't sit submerged in the mud
Not too close by, but in a couple weeks I plan to be near one and Ill scavenge for parts like that lower pulley, tail light lenses, etc.
Good afternoon from Spain, I was missing your videos, what a laborious job this Subuvan is doing, keep up the good work, it will be spectacular. A hug, friend.
Thank you so much!
Nice... new video 🙂👍
Up ball joint... skrew it off, don't press
Thanks for the tip!
This is pretty cool to see you're taking care of this baby, the VW Fox are becaming very hard to find and it's always nice to know that there are people preserving them! I have a 1987 Fox sedan 2 doors base model and love it! Please, as you have any updates let us know, it will be great! Cheers from Montreal in Canada!
Its on the back burner, but well get to it and post follow up videos for sure. Thanks for watching!
I love the fact that such a humble car is her dream car. So wholesome
Definitely!
I didn't hear you give the engine size when I watched this the other day. Definitely need to check the timing cover gasket as it was very common to fail on the 3.0 Rangers and cause coolant to get in the oil. I replied to another user about this as well. It could be other things like a cracked block, head, intake or the other cylinder head gasket, but the timing cover is the easiest thing to check. Hope that's all it is.
Always appreciate your input. We'll tear into the front end soon and hopefully find a hole. Good thing is a water pump is only $30 or so.
Good morning from Spain, great video and how your whole family participated in the restoration. God bless you. The golf cart looks spectacular, the pick up is going to look spectacular, although to be honest I'm more eager to see the finished GMC van. Greetings and as always, excellent video.
Thank you. Back on the van soon!
Love the head planing machine 😂 looked like fun, hope you enjoyed it as much as I did watching, thanks for sharing, all the best to you and your loved ones
I wished i would have told you the easier way to drill out your old ignition lock. The button you press to remove the lock the normal way is very easy to drill with a 3/16 bit, then the whole assembly will slide out.
Good thing was not installing the oil.drain plug before adding coolant
Absolutely!
Great idea getting the kids involved in the cylinder head re-surfacing and engine re-assembly. I tried to find the issue you're having with the Ranger coolant getting into the oil pan. I couldn't find anything. My guess is the timing cover behind the water pump has oil passages and coolant passages right next to each other? Sherman is a good dog, very loyal, he loves to be with you. The kids did a great job on the seat covers for the golf cart! Good luck with the troubleshooting of the Ranger!
Is this a 3.0 or 4.0? If it's the 3.0, the timing cover gasket was notorious for this. FelPro makes a very nice replacement that is much better quality than the OEM.
Van Nationals or Bust! July 2025 Minnesota this year. Keep up good work saving this gem! Sonora The Van will ride again!

Nice Save!!
Just found your channel. Great job , have a 69 j2000 that belonged to my dad ,hope to get it back in the road soon
Welcome aboard! Good luck with your J200!
Found your channel because of this car. Thank you for saving it! I have fond memories of the '89 Omni America I had years ago. Mine was a Charcoal grey over light grey base model, no A/C, no power steering, factory radio delete, front buckets with adjustable headrests, fuel injection, 5 speed, rear defroster, and 2 settings for the heater: floor or defrost. It was surprisingly quick, got 40 MPG, and was comfortable enough for 5. It was a great little car for a long time. My grandpa bought it new for his commuter car, then passed it down to my uncle, then to me. Finding another like it would be my unicorn, like this one was to her. As a former Omni owner I would like to offer some advice, which you may or may not find useful... The Achille's heel of these cars, aside from crappy carburetors and head gaskets on the earlier 2.2's, was rust. There is a seam where the floor pan meets the firewall, right where your water leak was. Even after extracting, the carpet padding will trap moisture in that area and it will rot it out. Mine was a Midwest car, and the undercoating peeled off the outside of this seam in the wheel wells and road salt did the rest till the floors fell out. Obviously road salt isn't such a problem where you are, but that area is especially prone to rust. Find and fix the leak, Pull the carpet and dry it, replace the saturated portions of padding with some cheapy stuff from Lowe's, and dose that area on the outside with some Fluid Film or used engine oil. Also, the bottom leading edge of the A pillars and bottom edges of the doors were prone to rust and would benefit from a shot of Fluid Film inside them as well. Basic maintainence goes a long way on these, as with anything. They liked lower revs, short oil change intervals and regular tune-ups. The rear wheel bearings on these are serviceable, and pretty straight forward. Don't forget to check them periodically. The Check Engine light was basically a prehistoric computer (OBD-0, I think,) far less systems monitored and controlled than today's cars. Turning the ignition key from Off to On (not Start) to Off to On to Off to On will set the computer into diagnostic mode via the Check Engine light, which will blink out the number of the fault code. The old school Chilton's manual for the Omnis was actually pretty comprehensive, and worth having. You can probably find a cheap cheap copy on thriftbooks.com. AllPar.com is a wealth of information and support for the Chrysler L bodies. Also, AutomotiveForums.com if you run into an issue, and RockAuto may be your friend for new spare parts. If you come across another Omni or Horizon for parts maybe consider snagging it. I haven't seen one on the road in a long time, so it may be worth having one for unobtainium parts. The peeling paint was a standard feature at no extra charge, as was the sagging headliner. Most, if not all of these, especially the white and the metallic Ice Blue, had the paint falling off within 5 years. I'd say somewhere along the line someone tried to touch it up or had parts repainted, as the name badges on the hatch should be farther down, just above the body line/black trim, and further apart towards the outside edges. It may be moot at this point, but I'd go back white if you respray it. It's a good cover-up color. ✌️ Enjoy in good health!
Man, thank you for this truck load of info. I will definitely take your advice. Luckily its been in the shop for the last few months, so no more water penetration, but fixing that leak will be a priority. The next video will be painting it and the few remaining repairs. Thanks again, Jared
Asome job you have done a lot of hard work. Im thinking might take the engine out and just do a rebuild if it sit that long it would be good to check those cylinder walls most likely pitted and causing it to smoke.
The hand held vacc/blower unit is pretty cool, other vaccs wont fit in tight places. The power bench seat is awesome, great place for the kids to sleep/nap on road trips, etc.
Great job on de-shagging the interior!!! The 318 engine can be modded by using 360 cylinders heads for more torque. One of those 4 speed Chrysler overdrive auto transmissions will help a lot too.
Awesome job awesome family golf carter are good edition to that
Thank you 🤗

This renovation may not be a professional job but I must say that the parts and pieces that are being used to put this interior together is awesome. Man you are doing a great job with that interior renovation. Especially when you're doing it in a way that saves you money. Beautiful job bro!
I appreciate that.
I believe the square cutuot on top is for roof top a/c unit
I think you’re right.
That place looks methed up
I built my 65 C20 and 58 apache 4x4 pretty much from swapmeets then my salvage yard provided the frames with modern suspension and vortec 454s and 5 speeds in both I still have an all original numbers matching 65 C10 and C20 that were my grandpas little rust but not a straight body panel on either i just refreshed the 292s and got new glass they were frosted beyond being safe to drive I have all the paperwork from when he ordered it took delivery of it and binders of everything he fixed and serviced with the cost of it 1 of these days im going to figure out how much gas he ran through it he even kept track of that i know i put more through the C10 it only had 18k and change on it the C20 was his workhorse he rolled the odometer a couple times rebuilt the engine twice too bad they sat in the pasture till i was a teen and wanted them the cattle had been rubbing on them for years sad for the C10 the C20 had been beat on
I'm all over cheap and free motorhomes and campers especially with good engines and generators the aluminum is worth taking them apart engines transmissions and generators always sell that grill looked pretty straight some SOSpads and water would have it shining like new and people restoring old trucks pay good money for a grill like that because usually the farmer who owned the truck before bumped something the bumper is the same way and a dash that nice gauge cluster but I have a couple hundred acres for a salvage yard and dig a pit with my excavator and everything burnable goes in it I check appliances clean them up and sell what works propane refrigerators are popular with tiny house off grid people but aluminum price and copper are always worth it for me plus I have plenty of kids who love making a little money receiving stress and tearing something apart
Thats a nice ride its going to be a classic one day 😊😊😊😊
