I'm Colombian married to Vietnamese man. There are pros and cons. Of course my experience is not the whole general experience but seeing Vietnamese men at work and living with one, I would say, I think they hard workers but coming from a Latin culture I find them too soft and hard to connect emotionally and lazy and selfish. The good thing I guess apparently are more home oriented and family oriented than Latin guys , I see less likelihood to cheat, they are generous. You can't have everything I know my husband has his complains too.

Be warned that there are some (fortunately very few) businesses in Australia where you will come across poor customer service. I worked in a government department and I have worked with colleagues who would gloat about the customers they have antagonised. I have also encountered retail outlets where the salesperson is clearly in the wrong profession. The message is, Australia does have its share of arseholes.

I think BS Jobs does point at another socialtal/cultural problem: "Why is NOT working considered lazy?" and "Why are we forced to prioritize work so much over other aspects of life?" We COULD work 32... 24... Even 16 hour workweeks... But our system chooses not to. Working productively shouldn't be rewarded with more work. It should be rewarded with more time off/money, or whatever that worker values most. I believe UBI would be 1 step towards a better world. It'd produce tangible impact in people's live, right now.

Welcome to Brisbane. I'm the opposite to you as I moved from Australia to Vietnam 17 years ago. We just love your home country, and have found it so incredibly friendly all these years, but as I'm retiring I'm returning to Brisbane to live next month. I finally made my way into the corporate post college high paying job about a year ago. I thought I’d use my fancy math skills to whip up optimization strategies. Instead I was a “value stream manager” tasked with “bringing value that flows to the end customer” whatever tf that means. I did everything I was asked quickly and effectively. This left me with nothing to do, especially when it was a “project” where I just had to wait for people to do their part. It was insufferable. I got laid off a few weeks ago and couldn’t be more grateful. I have more than enough money saved to last me a long time, car paid off, and unemployment (that we all pay for in our taxes). Starting my own thing as a life coach and looking for something more useful and fun

Supervisor is a useless position. They don’t do anything but breath down your neck and type up reports at the end of the day. They get twice as much pay as a worker who works their butts off. That isn’t fair.

My job is far from bullshit but doesn't need to exist.....if people were smarter. I spent 70% of my day fixing larger issues caused by lack of planning and bad strategy and people not knowing how to do math or use computers beyond a basic level.

Hire a bunch of inexperienced 22 Y-olds for your HR department and watch your competition scoop up the best talents, your lill snowflakes rejected. Once I was interviewed for a bilingual job at a tech firm and 2 of those lill pukes asked me scripted stuff, but had no clue about the actual work I'd had to do, nor any of them was speaking Italian. The job title was "Bilingual Customer and technical support professional English/Italian. 3 months later they were still looking. The thing is; Western colleges are setting young ppl up for failure by indoctrinating them with useless crap and politics, instead of teaching then real life skills.
