Thank you very much! I love this kind of projects ❤
Not many reviews out there, thanks for this mate
As much as it sucks that LoupeDeck+ doesn't support DaVinci Resolve, it's not their fault. It's Blackmagic Design that won't open up their SDK -- for obvious reasons, they sell their own hardware...
Wait till you find our about bubble wrap and gaffer tape.
So how does "fine, kinda" translates to "does exactly as it should"? Also, you forgot to mention what model you are using...
The video is about JBODs in general not my specific model. I say why it's not perfect but still does what it should
Had mine about a year now and use it for every edit. Yes it has an annoying wire, yes it’s a bit plastic. However, I find it very comfortable to edit on, have presets added and masks set to certain buttons and this really works well. Also when I want to review my whole gallery and make some minor adjustment to ensure consistency it is really quick and again comfortable to use. I still use my keyboard above it but find if I edit with the sliders I don’t have the same control and look at the sliders rather than the image. Has it made a massive difference to my editing time, no but it is quicker for sure but it is a more comfortable and enjoyable experience and would not go back.
Do you think there could be a way to kind of make a waist belt and attach the spring arm to the side? Similar to the way the tiltat float works
Thank you.
I have LoupeDeck+ for about four year and would never be without one. Set mine up in a pull out drawer so it and keyboard are very easy to use. With the newer firmware it is useable in numerous application by adding them and almost unlimited customization for each. I prefer this deck over their others because I like having buttons and dials at hand. Muscle memory over time helps in speeding up the work flow for me.
wtf the choice of words
I bought this vest but walking shots are too shaky even in ninja walk that makes me very disappointed. could u tell me how u get smooth footage while walking , or we need to fix the spring?
So if you already have a real nas you can just plug this one in with usb and it add drives. I have a synology 2 bay nas but thinking about getting a larger one. 2 x 18 tb isent enuff for me so thinking getting 8 x 18 tb drives but 8 bay nas is insanely expensive so this if it work is more affordable I think.
any problems with TSA?
I've never taken it on a plane
I wonder if the heat would be an issue as you put all power cables under the foam board. Maybe a few holes on the sides might help with that.
oh, and I used red corflute with black EVA foam for a nice colour contrast...and for the corners, cut away every second corflute channel (like TrekPak does) and the end result is super neat.
Oh you faaaancy! Hahaha I didn't actually know about the corflute corner cutting that makes perfect sense thanks!
@@BuyersGuyd If I could post a photo or video of how I cut it, I would. It requires a little care as they're narrow slices and you only want to go through one layer of corflute plastic...but the corners are super neat.
I did this, except I used 3mm weed mat pins from Bunnings as the joining pins. They sit slightly proud so there's no need to add a tag for removal later.
Great video. I just picked this item up today. I'm thinking it may be a faulty model... No matter how loose I make the 2 knobs on the arm, both segments still point upward. I can push them down with some force, but then they pop right back up. Am I doing something wrong, or does it sound like I may have gotten a dud and need to return?
The springs in the arms will always be springy. They'll always want to point upward. You just need to balance that spring force with how heavy your camera is
The intro alone deserves a like
Great video and well informed!
What is the handle grip setup on the right side of your RS3 rig? It looks like a solution I feel could work for me
It's a tilta rosette to rosette and then another rosette to rosette but angled. Possibly called a dog bone by camvate? I got them both off Amazon
Hi friend! Very nice video! One question. You show using the thanos while handheld. On the video, i cant seem too see what you have attached the fx6 to the rig with?
It was just the 1/4-20 adapter that they give you with it that usually screws into the bottom of the gimbal I've just screwed it into the fx6 tripod mount. I'd definitely recommend fluid head or something instead though
Hi! thanks for all the info, i have a question: what is the minimum vest size that you can get adjusting the straps? Is it suitable for small women? thanks!
Not sure how to say exactly how small but I'm not a big dude and it can definitely get too tight for me if I reign it fully in. I'd say it was probably prototyped by people with pretty small frames so it should fit mooost people. Could always get it off Amazon and return no questions asked if it doesn't fit?
Hey Sandra nice to see another woman trying to find the best weight support were you able to find it? Please let me know im looking to see the best option
@@morayma3318 Hi! At the end I didn't use too much the Batcam in my job, but honestly I think the most efficient is the Thanos Support Vest....
nice review, have you used this without a gimbal in order to have a more "natural" movement maybe? most cameras have stab and i was wondering if this could be a solution cause my rig is still 4,5 kg .... have you filmed anything in this way? you think it would worth use it without a gimbal? thanks :)
Yeah I tried it out as a 3rd arm for "handheld" and it definitely works. You'd want some kind of dampened ballhead or bowl on top of it though to let you still point in any direction you want. Without a gimbal it's movement is a little stifled
@@BuyersGuyd really appreciate your reply, with stiffed what exactly you mean? sorry i m not native English speaker and google translate didn't help a lot :)
Basically restricted. Because of the way the arm connects to the gimbal or camera it can't go in every direction smoothly or 360. So a head of some kind would fix that
Great video
How are things two years later? I’m in that exact position - I need the payload. And I’m def planning to fly it with a vest and arm. But have you seen most of the things that griped you, fixed? Still a pain in the neck?
I sold is about 6 months after this video actually. I moved onto the fx6 and the rs3. It's a killer combo and solves all the issues I had with the crane 3. Can't recommend it enough
@@BuyersGuyd Oh gotcha, ok. Sadly, the RS3 doesn’t have the payload I need, I’m afraid. Actually considering the Ronin 2 now. Thanks for your video!
No worries, glad I could help. What setup are you running and how heavy?
@@BuyersGuyd We shoot on Red V-Raptors and Komodos. And we use Zeiss Supreme Primes. When the Komodo is kitted out with matte box, nucleus (focus only), and lens support, it’s about 12lbs 1oz. (5.4kilos). That’s about 85% of the Crane 3S’s limit. Can’t even attempt the Raptor.
Ahhh fair enough. Yeah Ronin 2 seems a goer. I'm surprised they haven't updated the professional range in so long. Ronin 2 is like 6 years old at this point
Great video but good luck finding 2mm adhesive EVA foam. ALL SOLD OUT EVERYWHERE!
Been a while since this vid so I don't super remember what I said. But my hardware store sells mass rolls of 3mm which is pretty good
Found some at Michaels here in the US. 9x12 sheets not optimal but it works! @@BuyersGuyd
I bought the loupedeck+, returned it shortly after, then gave it another shot and I'm pretty with you on it. When it works, I do like it, but I can't say it's saved me much time in LrC (I never use it in photoshop). I use the Speed Editor for Davinci and also feel pretty meh about it however I got the studio key with it so I feel like it was a freebie (since it's the same price with or without for studio). The nice thing about the Speed Editor is it's wireless so I keep it off my desk when I'm not using it but still close by so I can grab it while Davinci loads up. If you're into macro pads, the Razer Tartarus v2 isn't a bad option since it can take your hands of the keyboard and is infinitely customizable. The big pro there is it adds a scroll wheel to your left hand and gives your thumb more functionality than just the space bar key. The Synapse software isn't my favorite, but it gets the job done. I really wish these sorts of macro pads were more widespread so companies would compete with Razer, but unfortunately the only competitor I know of was logitech and they discontinued the G13 quite a few years ago. I guess Azeron's gaming pad would also fall in, but the price point, 3d printed materials, and steep learning curve are pretty tough to get over.
Why is the roll of adhesive foam from Bunnings better than the adhesive foam from Clark?
Better value for size. The Clark rubber was like A4 sheets or maybe A3 but the roll was like 3 metres
02:35 Is a 1/4 inch screw strong enough to handle the 8 kilos plus the shakes?
So far yes. It doesn't seem to be under much stress since the gimbals arms are dealing with all the real movements
yehhhh mate I love the video! Cheers!
Where do you store the batteries while traveling?
All the batteries fit in my larger pelican case in a Battery section. If you got a taller case for the chargers though you could store them in that
@@BuyersGuydah ok, I designed a modular 3d printed solution to store batteries in a small pro case. I was wondering if people would want a dedicated battery case
Compare this with some other arms in the market
I'd love to, money permitting of course. Any suggestions for which ones to try out? I've only really seen the Digitalfoto one
my Camera Rig... 1. Canon R5c 2. Filter System... NiSi C5 Mattebox 3. Zoom Lens - Tamron 24-70mm and Cine Zoom Lens 4. Focus/Zoom Motors 5. Possible V-Mount Battery... Can the Crane 4 handle that.. lol
Don't have the crane4 but Id wager the rs3 could. The 35-150 is pretty damn heavy and the fx6 is much longer which makes it harder to balance than a more dslr shape like the r5c. If you want to be sure though you might have to try and find someone with the exact setup or close
Great Video.. i am right now in a "Review Stage"... >> Review/Research and decide tp Purchase a Few Products... 1- Gimbal... Zhiyun Crane 3s or DJI RS3 Pro 2. Gimbal Vest... Over Head Spring or Frontal Spring... I saw you used the Zhiyun Crane 3s.. but now you are using the DJI RS3 Pro...
Thanks! The crane 4 just came out so that might be something to look into also. I definitely like the rs3 though. Way more comfortable to hold than the crane 3s and the arms flex way less too. As for easyrig or front spring it kinda depends. The easyrig will probably take out more footsteps and give you more freedom of movement for the camera BUT you'll have to mount the gimbal upside down or use a ring
@@BuyersGuyd Crane 4 is for Lesser Loads.. thou if I plan to buy the RS3.. Crane 4 and RS3 has similar Weight Load... I love the Crane 3s because of how heavy Load it can handle... its just sad they are not Upgrading Crane 3s and RS3 is not to the Level of Crane 3s in Weight Load
Thank you for crediting that guy! I saw a video of someone else who had clearly seen his step by step post but didn't credit him!
I'm trying to find a video of the finished product in the video...am I missing it?
Yeah sorry I'm garbage and didn't even notice when I made the vid! I'm gonna make an update video now that I'm doing RUclips again and I'll show the whole thing and what I tweaked
wtf, didnt finish the build out....

Very Nice!
hi is here one that can take 20TB drives
The newer model doesn't specify a drive size limit which would lead me to believe it'll work with anything. If you're gonna be putting that many dollars worth of drives in it I'd probably recommend a higher priced option than this unit in particular though.
Well truth to be told, used it with a7siii and 70-200 f2.8 ver 2 and everything went so smooth even without the extension arm. other lenses like 24-70mm f2.8 are hard to zoom even if you balanced it in the middle range of the lens ir self. - Joystick placement is horrible . - smart handle wheel is rubbish. - Connectivity and calibration are horrific as well. - settings and monitor are worse and boring to work with. Great review and zhiyun must watch this 👍👍
This is awesome!
Thanks for the video, that material looks like Corrugated Plastic Sheet.
I've just bought a 1610 case and I'm looking at a half-height divider solution - this is perfect thank you!
Glad I could help!
I imagining making a moquette instead of taking measurements. I would lay out my tools and make a moquette with cardboard so i don’t have to reference measurements, and I can use the moquette will become my template/stencil!
Brilliant video, subscribed
This is a fantastic primer on the DAS unit, though I can see you very soon wanting to move to NAS. The fact that you are using this as primary storage instead of as part of a backup strategy….I’ll keep you in my prayers dude. (P.S. Great video, you’re a fantastic presenter/editor/variousRUclipsSkillsHave-r, so I have smashed the subscribe button into a fine paste.)
