Justice league is fun. I wish they would’ve kept it up. They have given up on over half the effects even the 3D. It just feels kind of awkward now. I almost wish they would’ve kept it as scooby doo if they weren’t going to keep it running as it should
I've stayed nearby when I spent Christmas with my brother's family in 2018-19 and the Boardwalk is always a stop, even though I don't do the rides anymore! I love how the carousel has antique sounding Christmas music in the rotation!
went there growing up. aint been there since 94 maybe since before college then moving away. the Durflitzer was my fist ever coaster when i finally got brave enough. then loved it and road it bunch of times. then next time we went year or 2 later it was gone. so tried super screamer. loved it and road a bunch then next time i went it was gone. road dragon bunch times last 2 times there ever. yeah other2 coasters were better. dragon was 2 loops and that was it. hit them so fast that from top of climb to end of ride was like 10 seconds. i likes ladyluck and light house and the tilt a whirl. id make my pod spin like crazy shifting my or our weight at the right moment. i broke a bumper car as a teen my lunging my weight forward as about to hit someone causing a massive hit to the other people. i used same green # car each time if i could. went on it like dozen times in a row with some other kids i met there. later that night when i went back to ride some more the car i had road earlier was broke down off to the side. i was like did i have something to do with that? Outlaw was the coolest coaster there when it opened. early 80s they had these old cars you could drive with a center rail to keep them from going off the road other wise you could freely drive and steer them. also had a haunted house ride on what would become dragon island. the infant ocean and couple other little kid rides came from an old park on an island in the river there in des moines or something. the chair lift came from like north or south dakota state fair or some state fair. I thought silly silo closed in 90s cause my sister and I finally tried it once as the last ride before we left that year then next time we went it said closed. but maybe just for a while for repairs. we moved and never went back after that so we only got to ride it once. we both got to go up on stage 2 different years for the dolphin show where the underground is now. she also got to be levitated on stage by ben ulin. they used to broadcast a game show from stage where dolphins and high dive was at where underground is now. They had a circus before the water park where water park is at for a year or 2 but we had already moved. the year before the falling star for 1 year only they had an identical ride called the rainbow at that location. not sure why they switched dad won a lantern playing bingo 1 night. bingo was usually a must stop end of the night, though i didnt care much for it. last time there i was old enough they turned me loose on my own or part of day with my little sister while parents watched shows and dad played games. it was cooler day and sprinkled off and on so only half the people were there. we road dragon like 10 times straight with no line. get off, run down, around, back up and get right back on almost. Id get to cut in line on raging river and others when i was alone cause i hold 1 finger up in air waving until ride operator saw me and waved me up when they had room for 1 or 2 more to fill it. so that was a perk of running around alone. it was the happiest place on earth as a kid.
I used to go here every weekend when i was 6-13 as it was my dads child support in his eyes to me and my brother 😂 but hey it worked for me lmao🤷🏻♀️ never got bored like my brother did.
Note: T3 is gone
In 2025 this park will feature rapterra and a retheme of Project 305 called pantherian
4:28 safari village is now called jungle expedition
In the early 80s it was sold to Bally’s before Six Flags bought the park.
I cannot find photos of The Tornado ANYWHERE. Born (1985) and raised in Bristol...I remember someone dying in 1999 while working on the ride 😢. My friend and I remember the ride differently.
Probably should have added more than just, “Rolling Thunder was removed.” It had 10 years on GASM and left the park with zero wooden coasters.
Thunderbird's addition to the park happened right as my friends and i all got our licenses and while one worked there. So 3 separate times that summer we drove in from 2 hours away and stood in hella lines to ride it bc he could get discounted tickets. Core memory.
Carousel had Al Capone ride it at one time at a different location..it was moved to Georgia
Grim asides: Skyway was removed due to a cable snapping resulting in the deaths of visitors in the car, and Railblazer was shut down because someone was thrown (fatally) due to a faulty harness.
I remember quite a bit of the old school rides like the Wild Mouse, the JetStar& lets see......the Round Up the old cars people could drive before they were replaced
This is so good I’ve learnt so much about theme parks even though this is my home theme park I’ve learned so much🎉
I live in Altoona and it is a really really nice park. Just go to like Texas roadhouse and you’ll see Adventureland. It’s a really really nice park. Everybody would love it. You should try it someday it’s in Altoona Iowa America. And if you do go, I hope you have a fun time!!
Tehe hi Hadley i see you watched this to !!!!!!!
Wow thanks for the history of a park thats 30 minutes away from me lol
I’m here after Mardi Gras Hangover is shut down
I live in altoona but this is cool
Giant Dipper was designed by Prior&Church and built by Arther Louff. Not Morgan. Morgan built the current trains in the 1980s.
It took 47 days to create the Giant Dipper. Just like Rome.....the Giant Dipper wasn't built in 1 day
The pronunciation of the 1911 carousel is not Luff but pronounced as Lou-fff 👍🎠
Six Flags Great America is a awesome theme park. I've been to Gurnee Illinois and Atlanta Georgia.
You forgot “The Rush Street Flyer” was there also too.
We Love Six Flags Over Mid America!!! 🦅Thak You!!! Always Have A Six Flags Day!!! 💖
I wonder If Yakko, Wakko, and Dot Warner are LeRoy's cousins or fictional relatives. 😅
This video sucked a lot of stuff was wrong
Umm motor boats 2:50
I have nostalgia bubbling up out me now, i love the direction Adventureland is moving. The last few years have been trying, yet still i see the vision the new owners want to instill, it makes me happy. Adventureland will always hold a major place in my heart, as a boy growing up, making it with a girl around the corner behind the hedge 😊, all the good times. That's what it's all about, those old school vibes of good times.
This rocks
Move Rail Blazer from California’s Great America to Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk, as part of expansion that goes all the way up to the edge of the San Lorenzo river.
I agree they should replace undertow with railblazer
@@marcocampos2332 No, look at the comment more closely
I have pictures at Fright Fest in 85. Maybe it wasn't called it then but I could've sworn it was.
They have added more rides and attractions since this video. I have lived down the road my entire life, 59 and counting.
Whats up with the foul langauge? No respect. Im out at 1:09. Clean up your vocabulary.
So what was the 6th coaster to open grizzly or shockwave
That was my family vacation in the 90’s
2:24 ah yes a nazi parade that really screams theme park development P.S Keep up the good work
Premier bought geauga lake before they bought six flags.... el dorado opened as mirage... it was batman knight flight....
Interesting fact KDs carousel originally operated at SFNE starting in 1917.
it's cool to see where some ride/area nicknames come from (as ride ops we still call skyride and surrounding rides Dream Street, and the carousel/teacups the Forest, and I never knew why until now)
I didnt even know the holidog funtown used to be a petting zoo F for the children who were walking on poor reindeer without knowing it
Sad that as of last season 2023, hurricane harbor is a separate entrance ticket/fee unless you have a certain level of pass. But hopefully with rookie racer and the new joker ride, this merger will benefit the overlooked and underfunded SFSL. Awesome video! ❤
Dollywood is an absolute favorite. My friends and I make it a tradition to go every Christmas! we’ve been every year since 2020
Can I ask what all the “BLEEPS” were for in this narrative video? It didn’t sound like you were swearing or anything…. And even if you WERE…. This is RUclips! There’s no regulations that you can’t cuss. There are several open videos all over here with swear words…. It sounded like you were maybe going to say the name of something or even sounded like you were going to say the word AMUSEMENT PARK or CARNIVAL 🎡 a couple times… just curious. Did anyone ELSE notice this and were curious? Please comment a REPLY to me, so I know I’m not the only one. Other than that, great video. I miss this place a lot. So many memories…
Great video. Some of these older pictures used brought back fond memories of the 75+ times I visited the park during my childhood and teen years. It's not the best park in the world, but it is still one of my favorites. It's been 10 years since I've been...might need to drop by next time I end up in the midwest.
I wish they would bring back so many rides🙁
Grizzly run was moved to Michigan Adventures and is currently operating as Grand Rapids
How ? It's still there... maybe the boats went there at most
@@hundoe100 No, they moved the entire ride including the fake caves and waterfalls. I rode it at both Geauga Lake and Michigan Adventures
I’m 38 I live about 30 mins away I remember going there countless times with my gf at the time, we always had season passes but in 2006 we went there a total of 47 times usually twice a week. I worked for a local construction company and we did soil reconstruction in certain areas where rides once were. Loads of memories there it’s sad but indeed it was something to brag about when it was the largest theme park.
I'm 37, I grew up behind the walmart across the street. Geauga Lake was my babysitter as a kid. Season Pass and a Bicycle. I will always be bitter about losing that part of my childhood.
