    Where to start : The first #1 cut starts in The UPPER RIGHT. 2nd #1 cut starts in The LOWER RIGHT. 3rd #1 cut starts in The UPPER LEFT. & The 4th #1 cut starts in The LOWER LEFT. That's the best way that i could learn this. So UPPER RIGHT. LOWER RIGHT. UPPER LEFT. LOWER LEFT. Hope this helps.

    The interesting part is how to do it with the short edge. Please do a video on that. Also I think according to the text cuts should end in the Langort and not go the full way into Wechsel and Einhorn, but maybe it's your interpretation for a beginner class. Nice video!

    This is a poorly made video. The audio is bad. The camera position is static and too low when it should be centered on the speaker, especially when demonstrating cuts. I have no idea what the other guy is doing in it. The video was shot so close to a wall that the speaker backed into it! The final drill is a joke. The foot work and stances are bad. The striking technique is poor and the strikes are aimed at the swords, not each other because the distances are wrong.

    You don't step with the cut?

    • @bellowsfreifechter5717
      @bellowsfreifechter5717 6 лет назад

      We teach it in a progression, so when someone is first learning the pattern, we focus on just the sword movement, then combine with the stepping. With stepping, we teach one foot pretty much stationary at first while the other foot does all the stepping (except the shuffle step with the 9th cut), then work on various patterns of stepping with increasing complexity from there.

      Bellows Freifechter - fair enough. Just thought it was odd.

    I must say it is not called Meyer's square or 16 cuts. Master Meyer names it in the 1570 (Four Openings Diagram). i would suggest that in the future you use the proper names. It will show that read the text that the Maters provided. I'm not trying to insult im just trying to inform. I understand the common terms that others use for example Meyer Square. Using common terms shows a lack of understanding the source material and a lazy approach to training

      OP, you're a douchebag. Everyone knows what a Meyer Square is, fuck off with your elitism. I challenge you to a sharp longsword or halberd fight. *smacks you across face with a white glove*

    Loving the gloves and im almost convinced to but them. But did your friend say (at around 3:57) "i feel alot of pain right now"?

      Hans Henrik Engen, thanks for watching. John was comparing them to his gloves, and said he "would be in so much pain right now." Upon further experimentation with these, however, I would not recommend them for Longsword sparring as is (Though NF has apparently introduced a few newer modifications to the gloves since I got mine, I have not yet been able to see them in action). For general play with friends, at a lowered intensity, or other weapons sets, however, these are quite nice.

    Please do more videos of these. Also, how is it when you get hit on the tip of the finger.

    • @bellowsfreifechter5717
      @bellowsfreifechter5717 8 лет назад

      Thanks, Kyle. I haven't taken a direct hit to the tip of the fingers yet, but they seem to be at least fully covered by the rigid scales. Something along the lines of the SPES finger tip protectors may still be beneficial, however.

    I'd love to see a comparison review of the light gloves if anybody there has them. Hard to find people who have experienced both.

    • @bellowsfreifechter5717
      @bellowsfreifechter5717 8 лет назад

      Hey Nate; I haven't seen the light gloves yet in person. My understanding is that they're pretty similar, without the rigid plastic scales over the fingers.

    • @LuxTheSlav
      @LuxTheSlav 8 лет назад

      They have a single piece of styrogum for the fingers, which is the more heavy-duty material that most of the glove is made of, whereas the heavies have a softer material under the plates. I like the lights much more, because segmented plates tend to snag on things, and a blade could go between them.

      How are they so far? Overall?

    • @tscarter2u
      @tscarter2u 8 лет назад

      Have not fenced yet, only played with my longsword Swing simulator. I find the gloves are lighter and provide more mobility than SPES heavies. The only other Montoya heavy gloves on youtube right now show an attached thumb as well. Pictures on Neyman's FB page show both configurations.

      Hey Ankou; I have been able to test them out a bit more, ad have posted a follow up review showing them more in action. I have actually ended up being far more impressed with them than I had initially thought I would be.

    • @TheHuscarls

      I'm fairly pleased with them. They're comfortable, agile, and reasonably protected. That being said, I am still waiting to compare to Konings on a deeper level, as well as overall longevity of use.
