Wake Up O Daughter of Zion by Wendell Kimbrough
Lovely--uplifting us to the glory of our Lord!
I needed this song
We sang this one in Kirk today. Marvelous song!
Great
Looking for lyrics. Beautiful song
VERSE 1 Our Lady sings Magnificat, Her Spirit soars in fullest praise. The Son of God is born this day, Let angels mighty anthems raise. VERSE 2 The earth beholds the infant King, Creation's very roots rejoice. What is and was and is to come May finally hear the Maker's voice. REFRAIN Magnificat, Magnificat Magnificat anima mea Dominum VERSE 3 For Israel's joy is now brought forth, Messiah's here! O nations see Emmanuel in flesh and blood. This Babe will make the darkness flee. VERSE 4 My own heart swells with Heaven's Light. My tongue can't help but lift his Name. My bursting lungs are Spirit-filled. O Jesus, set my life aflame. REFRAIN Magnificat, Magnificat Magnificat anima mea Dominum
We were wand’ring in the desert with our souls so starved and weak. We were hungry for a homeland we did not know how to seek. But we lifted up our voices to the only One who hears; And the God of mercy came and brought us near. We were locked out of the garden, and our backs bent down with pain. In the shadow of death's darkness, we were slaves to sin and blame. Then we cried out in our labor to the only One who hears, And the God of mercy wiped away our tears. Chorus: Oh give thanks to the LORD for His love endures forever! We were wandering and lost, and our Father brought us home, To a safe dwelling place, to a feast of joy and laughter. Oh give thanks to the LORD, for He is good! We were fools in our rebellion, with our hunger strike of pride. We were sick and growing closer to the death we should have died. Then he heard of our condition, and he called us by our names; And the God of glory took away our shame. We were far out on the ocean, making wealth and chasing dreams, But the waves of great destruction brought us tremb’ling to our knees. Then we cried like drunken sailors to the only One who hears, And the God of comfort took away our fears.
Thank you!
Almighty God, we long to see you; Open our hearts and make them pure. Spirit, we wash our hands in mercy; Come teach our souls to love your truth. © 2015 Wendell Kimbrough
I love this song, it's one of my all time favorite hymns! Here's the lyrics. Eternal Weight of Glory Now the days and hours and moments Of our suff’ring seem so long; And the toilsome wait and wond’ring Threaten silence to our song. Now our pain is real and pressing Where our faith is thin and weak, But our hope is set on Jesus; And we cling to him, our strength. Oh eternal weight of glory! Oh inheritance divine! We will see our Lord redeeming Every past and future time. All our pains will be transfigured, Like the scars of Christ our Lord. We will see the weight of glory, And our broken years restored. Chorus: For behold! I tell a myst’ry: At the trumpet sound we’ll wake “Death is swallowed up in vict’ry!” When we meet our King of Grace Every year we thought was wasted Every night we cried “How long?” All will be a passing moment In our Savior’s vict’ry song We will see our wounded Savior. We’ll behold him face to face; And we’ll hear our anguished stories Sung as vict’ry songs of grace.
Like the words. I think it is the cry of all our hearts to see Him face to face! Thanks
