In this build, we create a custom enclosure for our ampace home music server. I used 2mm balsa for this build. it's very easy to manage and create a strong enclosure after completion. If you are using thicker balsa keep in mind to adjust the CAD according to balsa thickness. Hey I am looking to make something like this myself but instead of using eternal PSU, Is it possible to solder or take power for the usb3 port directly from the pi? I am using official pi power supply of 15.3w
What's your RPI used? If i use rpi2, can i drive the hdd?
I do not have create channel option
so should we remove 1 and 4 ???
But..but..why the power supply? Can't the Pi power the hdds on its own? Those are 2.5 drives right? My Pi powers 4tb drive.
He use 2 hdd, so need more power i think
Because drives pull a lot of current when they are starting up or reading/writting so it can cause random errors or they can even get damaged. Single drive is fine, but two or more should have their own supply.
Worst one so far lol.
Did you cut out the Ground pin when you cut out the vcc pin And if so why? Yould need a common ground pin with the data pins.
I get the following errors - what am I doing wrong? Reading package lists... Done Building dependency tree Reading state information... Thanks for the hint on disconnecting those VCC pins!
Thanks for the video, very much educative. Please, can you help me with a diagram how you did the wiring? Thanks
Nice build. Realy like it. But i have a question can power supply handle with 4 external 2TB hdds (seagate / wd) and pi at the same time ? or do i need to go bigger like 5v 18amp ? Do you have any idea ?
You need to go bigger. You can power the hdds from sata power cables from a PC psu by shorting the power on connector of psu. This way you can use both 2.5 and 3.5 inch drives. Also if you don't want any complications then you can buy this external hdds ruclips.net/video/FwoMeAENnYg/видео.html and chain as many as you want
Absolutely no interest ... you don't make a NAS, you just plug 2 SSD to a Raspberry with a safe power supply... Where is the configuration of the system ?
You install OMV on OS of your choice and set up shared folders. It takes like 5 minutes and it's least demanding part of whole setup.
Hello is it possible to install multiple Ampaches with independent users on the same server and the streaming Channel work? I intend to set up a streaming music business, can I use Ampache for multiple clients?
"You're building what to hold our precious family photos?!?!" --wife
Did they works in RAID ? What software do you use ? Thank you 😊👍🏻👏🏻
It's not good idea to run RAID on Pi since USB is not that reliable.
What about cooling for the Pi?
Nice build bro. You can use almost any board that has the same form factor as the Pi
Stupid question . They have USB too hard drive adapters that all I do is push in to the hard drive . So if you had two of those are like maybe 5 bucks a piece you could teach that big power supply at the bottom and clean up the wires . USB will power the hard drives
These are refurbish HDs from WD , really cheap dnt kw the reason, powering up from USB can end HDD get disconnected randomly when doing big file transfers. Also I have PLEX running and planning a case with cooling. So went with sizable PW
can i have your email address?
i was thinking in build one for my house... but i have one question: If you was using the HD with USB, why* did you removed from the case?
Pedro Bermudes maybe to access the hard drives' screw holes...
also to dissipate heat easily, I have a plan to build a case
Nice build!
Excelent !
What's this song???
Jincheng Zhang- Bench I Love You
Good music. - Dailyjunky I wait for the next video. Thanks for the tutorial. regards
Great job man! Can't wait to see the next video. Greetings from México!
i got: The folder couldn't be read. Does it exist?
Which folder is it?
@@diyjunky6951 the cataegory folder.
@@elleon_pro I guess you meant "Catalog" path. That you need to create in RPI and upload your own audio files
@Edu Leon permission issue of the folder. i changed it worked for me
Having exposed mains is a no go! 3D print a cover for that immediately.
case is already designed and printed, cough up in a another project. I'll make it before Christmas and post
Pretty cool build. I was disappointed with the cables afterward! But it's still good. I like how you made a small tower so you can stack drives easily. I made a NAS a while ago and ended up soldering a USB bridge directly to the raspberry pi itself, while also removing a whole USB connector to save space with things sticking out. I couldn't imagine soldering all of the USB 3.0 pins though, so I thought about using right angled USB to Sata cables.
Nice Video!!! I just started a RUclips channel a while ago and progress is slow, if you guys want to subscribe, it would be greatly appreciated, and I just came out with a new video of me flying, if you want to check it out!
Hi friend, I installed the ampache, but I contacted a public hosting and with a domain I bought, you could help how I can create a remote catalog. example if the files are in the Google drive, or mega. thank you
did you find an answer? stuck in the same..
all domestic routers have a FW enabled, So you need to setup port forwarding to connect from outside [do it right otherwise you'll end up exposing too much ]. you also need dynamic DNS provider. I'll try to get a video done on this.
Hi, why doesn't work on my web site? When i create a channel this don't running :(
not running.. maybe the release?
Any idea if the Pi Zero (W) is powerful enough to run Ampache? I miss the days of the lightweight media servers.. but seems after a while they tend to grow out of control! On Windows for example, Mezzmo, Plex, and XBMC/KODI are *HUGE* downloads!
it can with some good cooling and disabling re-sample would do the trick.
mysql throw error 1698 and I can't access neighter root nor pi to mysql with the right password
try without a password sudo mysql -u root if this works that means you have no pass for root user. To cleanup and set root password run "mysql_secure_installation"
Hey, thank's for the video but I have a probleme, after I install the package, I run : pi@raspberrypi:~ $ systemctl enable mariadb Failed to enable unit: The name org.freedesktop.PolicyKit1 was not provided by any .service files Any ideas ?
Hum I got it, I just install policykit (sudo aptitude install policykit-1=0.105-18)
Wait... I can only log in root, and haven't password
if you need to setup a mysql root password run " mysql_secure_installation " and follow the installations and to create a different user for ampache run " CREATE USER 'amapche'@'localhost' IDENTIFIED BY 'your password'; GRANT ALL PRIVILEGES ON your-db-name . * TO 'amapche'@'localhost';"
