Model Railway Noob

Добавлен 28 авг 2018
As Frank Sinatra and Sid Vicious sang, I did or rather do it my way. I don't have an era and run both steam and diesel.
In 2018, I decided to build a layout for a train obsessed child for his 4th birthday. I decided to do an 00 scale round and round Thomas layout. It turned out better than expected and I got the bug.

I finally add the S&DJR Johnson 1P to my LMS and Midland collection but this model needed sound fitting so I chose a Youchoos sound file on a Zimo decoder.

There seems to be two versions of the LSWR green 120 T9. This more toned down version and the bright toothpaste green one. What model number is this one matey? The toothpaste greens are R6863
@@Danthehorse Hi, it's the R2892 and was a Hornby Collector model. I think the other is an NRM special edition and sells for more.
@modelrailwaynoob ah thanks dude. Thats helpful. Both are very nice looking. On googling, zero chance of me getting an R2892.
Hello Model Railway Noob, Enjoyed the video. But, if that is the pack of four HRA Bogie Hoppers DB Green that you purchased from the Bachmann Collectors Club, am I correct in believing that all four Hoppers have the same running number on them. I look forward to your, or anyone elses, reply to my query. Enjoy your modelling.
Hi Richard, I have 12 of these. I've just opened another box. Unfortunately, any numbers on them are too small for my eyesight sorry. If I were to guess, I would say yes they will be the same numbers. The Collector's site doesn't specify anything other than a four pack.
Thank you, Model Railway Noob for your rapid response to my query. That is what I thought the HRA DB Green Hoppers will carry the same running number. Shame really, as when they did the DB red ones, they had their own individuality. Think I shall wait to see what happens if and when, they do others. Thank you.
nice looking loco ive had to add weight to a few of mine
Thanks m8
Lovely . Does this set have the Hornby version of the Dean, with the quiet motor? Anx could you tell me what building is it 0:38 and who makes it please? Cheers, Dan.
@@Danthehorse No there is another newer version that os DCC ready
Very nice Michael. I have this one. I did add a little weight,,,, ATB to you.Stuart
Thanks Stuart
Hi Michael, there sure is a lot of room in that loco will you need to put some weights in it looks quite lightweight cheers Al
@breintonjunction791 Hi Al, It is light. I will try it out at the back of some coaches then decide although it would deffo help
Good job 😊

Hi
Hi
Great model ! 😃👍
Merci
@@modelrailwaynoob c’est une très belle locomotive. 😃👍
Stunning, straight from the box.
Thank you David. It's a nice looking locomotive. I have bought some more track to sort that layout out
@@modelrailwaynoob Firm foundation Michael, always build a firm foundation.
Good looking loco Michael. But perhaps a little bit notch at the start or could that be the controller? Anyway, and I’ve said it before, but I just salivate when I see your track laying scenery, so authentic.!
I suspect it is because it was straight out of the box. Once run in, it may not do that. I use Gaugemaster Models D controllers for DC. They generally work very well and it a loco can crawl, it does. I have to do some work on the track but I am torn as I have just built the baseboards for another layout.
Oh this is a beautiful loco Michael, love the video too 😊
Thanks Mandy
Nice loco , well suited with the coaches
Thanks Dave.
Excellent and nice model. 😃👍
Merci
I thought I had the bee’s knee’s of Caledonians with my as built 812 but the big wheeler is lovely, is it a Stirling single?.
It's the Caledonian Single. This is the 8 pin DCC socket version from the Hornby R30234 Caledonian Single 4-2-2 Train Pack but there are older Hornby/Tri-Ang versions too.
Gorgeous once more. The lining on loco and tender is incredible.
They are very nice David
nice vid on channel thanks lee
Thanks Lee
This loco is beautiful, love the video, and seeing some other lovely ones too 😊
Thanks Mandy
Beautiful engine. Ever heard of cheerful music to play in the background? Or if you want slow music, play something like The Blue Danube.
Or he could play that golden oldie sung by Gladys Macgregor “Darling will ye not mind yer business…” 😉 How’s things there Kelly
@@hythekent Very well thankyou. I've done something rather nerve-racking. For a long time, I avoided the tiddly-fiddly N Gauge track, controller and models. At last, I've given in and added it to my 00 gauge collection. The first N Gauge operation will commence in November, and I'm nervous of handling the models. I've never handled anything so tiny before, this is out of my comfort zone.
I don't do cheerful Kelly. The Blue Danube is good if we are going to waltz to the trains chuffing around the track. It's my favourite waltz tune.
@@kellyashfordtrains2642 Kelly. Did you give any thought to TT?
@@hythekent I only think of buying what I have room for. TT is slightly larger, I agree, but I don't have any more free space for it. So TT is not being thought of by me. The TT models are beyond my budget. N Gauge is cheaper.
Nice Michael my favourite is the darker blue C&R loco cheers Al
They are a lovely model Al
Hi Michael, what a perfect colour match from two manufacturers lovely set, I’ve got the loco but missed out on the couches thanks for sharing cheers Al
Hi Al, I thought the same about the colour. The coaches seem to have gone quickly
Nice to see your new video Al. You have some great stuff
Hi, great video of items in the awesome RTC livery, I have this Bachmann class 24 in this livery with factory sound with R&R speaker upgrade, unfortunately I didn’t get the Accurascale RTC coach pack as they were sold months before I even saw them, I won’t pay the eBay tax for them so I guess I will spend the money on something else, great to see your videos, thanks for sharing.
There is a lot of luck involved with seeing things before they sell out. The same happened to me with the Hornby Coronation and I won't pay double the price and more on ebay. These are nice coaches and it is possible Accurascale will do another run of them. The sound in my 24 is a Howes decoder I have had for over a year and not got around to installing it.
@@modelrailwaynoob Accurascale are a very modern focused company that produce some superb items, they are a low volume manufacturer in my opinion and will continue to be, they won’t do another run of the RTC coaches like the pack in this great video, Bachmann maybe more expensive but at least you can get your hands on their products before they end up on eBay for extortionate money because the manufacturer has met its quota, I’m not a fan of Howes sound to be fair, I’d rather use Legomanbiffo sound because it just sounds so good, the Hatton’s class 66 is a classic example of a superb sound file matched with the legendary EM2 speaker.
The coaches are nice, but I can't stand the sound of the Class 24 stinky diseasel. Too loud and harsh on the ears. A steam engine sounds much nicer, especially a GWR one. In my opinion, model diesels are better without sound, but I did say if I had a favourite box on wheels, it would be Mr. Growling 37. What's your favourite stinky box on wheels? If you have one that is.
Agree the steam engines sounder nicer. For me, my favourite diesel sound is the class 37, closely followed by the class 55. I have a class 37 with sound to film and a couple of steamies waiting.
They are very nice. Are they a "Limited Edition" set?
They were an exclusive from Accurascale set that sold out quickly and as always, people on ebay are trying to make money out of collectors that missed out.
I love this, it sounds good, and I love the lights on the train and in the buildings in the dark 😊
Thanks Mandy
good vid on channel

Lovely addition Michael. Great sound too. Glad to see Al got his 66. I've had to order a decoder from Accurascale, 7 to 10 days wait for mine. Love the matching wagons. You say Bachmann club members only. Can you only order 4.
@@StMaryChurchModelRailway Hi Stuart, you can order the green wagons individually or in a fours. Buying four at once works out at £60 each. Got myself an HST finally in Network Rail.
@modelrailwaynoob Excellent, I have sound in mine, but not the best. Hornby TTS. But the rear non power car sound stopped working. Junk. But the Loco runs perfectly.
@@StMaryChurchModelRailway This has TTS too
@modelrailwaynoob You won't be disappointed, They look great. Had mine running earlier, Always good, Shame hornby don't make the pantograph coach. I got mine off a fellow youtuber. An old lima coach and pantograph cut and stuck. But from a distance looks great.

After seeing your comment I thought I'd check your channel and seen these. I actually work at DB cargo strike depot where I did the cut and shut on these HRA wagons. Massive project. Like how the model even has the strip where the joint is
@@tommyfree4736 Thanks. I have bought another 8 so 12 so far. They must be huge clse up.
Who doesn't love City of Truro and it's sisters. I saw the real thing on an excursion train double headed with Midland Compound No. 1000 when I was about 12 years old. The memory has stuck with me clear and sharp. For my own model I opted for the short lived number of 3717 applied in 1912. Your two look marvelous with period coaches although I'm beginning to be concerned about the undulations in your track Michael.
@trainsontuesday haha I commented on it earlier to someone else. I built on foam for the first time because I needed the river and and the heat really damaged the track and a noise cancelling trackedbed I tried for the first and last time. The tackled lifted off the glue. I have repaired the cracks and I will lift some track and replace some points. You learn as you go along David. I am planning on trying new techniques on my next layout, so I am keeping my fingers crossed!
@@modelrailwaynoob Firm foundation Michael, I can walk around on my benchwork even walking on the track and turnouts (points.) Leave the foamy stuff for scenery.
Always beautiful. Love to see this layout, so realistic.
@hythekent Thank you so much. I have been doing some repairs because of damage caused by heat. I want to alter the nearside track too as the bend is too tight and there is a nasty dip just before the bridge.
How beautiful, I love this, and the music too 😊
@@mandy4242 Thanks Mandy
Not if you let both engines run full circuit all the way round for a lap. The music is already being used for Tiny Kitten videos, but no matter. I've got City of Truro in my collection, my beloved steamy daughter. She shares the no. 1 spot in my heart with my one true love, 7822 Foxcote Manor.
Hi Kellly, It is just a 6ft up and down layout. City of Truro is very sought after and therefore expensive. What a great loco to have. I do love these locomotives.
It is a thing of beauty but I don't think I would want one.
It is an interesting loco. I'm not sure what I think about the sound
@@modelrailwaynoob Well, it is a turbine and they whine and steam being consumed hisses so you have a hissing whine. I thought the sound was very plausible but as it was a one off and before my time I'm not that interested. Mind you Rocket was before my time too (just) but I have 3 of them. lol.
A prefer the Bachmann ews hopper wagons personally price wise but yeah the green version do look beautiful like only downfall is they’re double the price of the ews versions lol 2nd hand i paid around £28-£33 each ews hopper wagon 21 in total.
@bachmannobsessed2234 Yes the cost is a pain compared to others
@@modelrailwaynoob£67 each at rainbow railways
@@bachmannobsessed2234 If you buy four from Bachmann, it works out at £60 each £240 for four

Now that is one beautiful loco, what a fantastic find 😁
Yes I was lucky Mandy
@@modelrailwaynoobYou certainly were 😊
Hi Michael, that is different sounds like a jet plane like it, did you take up a bank loan for those other eight Bachmann wagons cheers Al
It's an expensive hobby. I used to think that photography was expensive but this is a different level
Hi Michael, So you’ve gone green lol they do look nice thinking of getting some myself but they are a bit expensive like all Bachmann stuff cheers Al
@breintonjunction791 Hi Al, they are really good but expensive but then I worried about them selling out, so I ordered 8 more, but I won't eat for a while...
They certainly do look good. I'd like to see a whole train load of prototype loco and wagons, without graffiti of course.
Me too David. I'd love some more. The problem is I have to pay for my new car next month.... just bought another 8 in case they sell out! I need to eat less anyway
Beautiful.
Thank you David
