Bandslam is 15 years old!!! This holds up extraordinarily well being severely underrated Vanessa Hudgens, Aly Michalka, Gaelan Connell, and Lisa Kudrow Director Tod Graff makes a high school film with music in it but it’s not strictly a musical thankfully going against stereotypes All these actors work extremely well together being well developed characters and the kids who love their share of music will love a lot especially punk, ska, reggae, and indie rock, this film manages to differentiate itself with its selection of many genres of music Will learns to get past his barriers, Sa5m is quiet, brooding, and reserved, and Charlotte is so upbeat and positive not letting anything bother her although it seems too good to be true Both girls are flawed in their own ways Will’s mom is also very caring protecting her kid from any emotional damage Will isn’t ready to handle through wit and sarcasm Heck she gives a beautiful monologue near the end making this way more grown up taking more risks than other films would This is all about finding your voice with a group of misfit kids defying all odds, even losers turn out to be the real winners, and it’s also the journey that truly matters Heck they even get the late David Bowie which is an ongoing motif as well as Will’s inspiration The only things that brings this down a tiny bit is that some of the other minor characters don’t get that much development, Scott Porter could’ve been cut out entirely, and sadly this ended up getting lost in the shuffle at the box office But it is still and always will be a fantastic movie! It made me smile all the way thru the film is far from originality but it has a certain tone and charm Vanessa Hudgens is awesome, its cool to see her play a new character expanding her range Gaelan is a good actor too I’m surprised by how much maturity was in this movie the best thing about Bandslam is that is avoids those clunky, goofy teen antics in past films The music is excellent too, you’ll tap your feet to a lot of the songs The funniest scene had to be the kissing scene itself cause it was so awkward and unexpected This was the best movie of that summer and my second best film of 2009!

Well, I first watched this video years ago. I couldn't understand a word of that dialogue, but now I just understand 100% of it all and I'm thrilled. That was a great interview, love Vanessa and Ellen together, they were so funny it's amazing to watch or re-watch it! Haha <3
