Make It Conscious
Великобритания
Добавлен 18 июн 2015
Welcome to Make It Conscious, where we explore the depths of the psyche and uncover the hidden wisdom within.
My goal is to help conscious individuals develop self-knowledge and realise more of their potential by engaging with the unconscious mind, in a culture that over-emphasises left-brained operation. Join me on a spiritual growth journey and set an example of awareness, empathy, and responsibility, leading to a more intentional, self-aware world.
With over 20 years of experience in psychospiritual techniques and as the curator of the Seven Habits of Individuation, I have gained insights into how control dynamics in relationships, organizations, and wider society can hinder genuine spiritual growth.
Through my content, training, and coaching, I share what I have learned from sages, coaches, and psychologists at the top of their respective fields. I am here to guide you towards the "one thing" that, when made conscious, unlocks the next stage of your growth towards wholeness.

Inner Shadow Work - Course Overview - Coming to Terms With Yourself - Know Yourself Programme
In this episode Max introduces the third course of the MiC Know Yourself Programme - Inner Shadow Work.
The shadow is the unconscious realm of the psyche that comprises all that we repress, deny or hide from others. It necessarily forms as a result of our adaptation to the world, stepping into ourselves and becoming an individual.
But the shadow itself is also dual. Just as it contains shortfalls and tensions we’d rather avoid, it contains vital gifts & qualities. Jung described becoming conscious of the shadow as "the essential condition for any kind of self-knowledge."

How well do you "know yourself?" How exactly is it that a mind can come to *know itself*? Are “you” merely an idea? Is there, as a Buddhist might say, ‘no self?’ What could it mean to be ‘conscious?’ What is spirituality? Why do we suffer? Is it wrong to desire? What is freedom and what does it mean to be free? Does evil exist? Why are we here, and what is history and our world about anyway? Di...

What is the 'Ego?' What does it mean to 'have' an ego? A 'big ego' or a 'strong ego'? Is the ego bad? The Ego is an often misunderstood concept in psychology and conversation more broadly. It is a key part of Carl Jung's psychology and map of the psyche, and a necessary factor in the development of self-knowledge and the unfolding of spirit itself. Carl Jung said many things about the Ego. But ...

It's my book - Beyond the Limen 🤔
Thank you so much 🙏 I was able to face understand and realize some really tough stuff I haven't been able to face 🤍🫂
I saw absurd trip in the bottom.
I am extremely grateful for this, and the other 2 episodes. This man is not only intellectually honest, but very generous too. I especially appreciate the readings of the extracts, with careful intonation to help us focus on the meaning, followed by his interpretations. This channel is replete with 'spiritual' advice; the fact that fewer than 1000 people have watched this, and virtually nobody has opened a discussion, speaks to me of how superficial we have become collectively. These issues obviously cannot be understood superficially, by definition. Thank the lord that someone is approaching and sharing this fundamental wisdom with real integrity. I hope it gains traction.

If we perceive someone as being virtuous or cruel, does it possibly mean that if WE were to do their actions our intentions would be that which we perceived?
Nice observation! Yes this is true to a large extent. We might render other people's actions as meaning what they would mean to us if we did them. For example if we recognise the danger in emotional manipulation and choose not to do it on that basis, we might regard others even behaving with social skill as being necessarily manipulative. However this doesn't mean that there isn't some truth - virtue and/or cruelty - in what we are seeing. But it can give powerful insights into our own shadow dynamics as well as allow us to see the behaviour clearly. There is both light and dark to every quality.
Getting caught up on this video Max after finally completing the meditation for Beyond the Limen part 4. So far, in my limited experience of a year or so since first trying active imagination and paying more attention to dreams, I have changed for the better as far as insight into my own behaviours, thoughts and emotions. It has been remarkable and I find it exciting to know there is so much wisdom waiting there to be tapped into within.
Hey Chris, this is awesome. Excellent work! It's a testament to the value of opening up a connection with the unconscious mind and the power of this technique. There's always more there waiting to be encountered. It's a never ending process of unfolding on the macro scale and we all play a part in it. Yet the benefits can be felt at every stage on the personal level.
Thank you for this magical meditation 💜
You're welcome! Good work for going deep. Your mind is magic, the exercise just facilitates 😉🌟🔥
genuinely, what does it mean if i saw a pug 💀
Well done for completing the exercise. What the symbol means is specific to you at this time. Symbols do not have a fixed, universal meaning since they reflect ineffable aspects of the unconscious in the way that the conscious mind can best relate to them. The appearance of a pug could have many potential meanings. What does a pug mean to you? With active imagination the most important part is to engage with the symbol, honouring its autonomy. You could even try re-engaging with this symbol and asking it what it means. It would be interesting to see how this symbol and your relationship with the anima changes over time.
@@makeitconscious thanks for the reply lol. I have no special relationship with pugs, other than thinking about them within the context of philosophical thought experiments around themes of nature, strength, and morality
There is so much shit lock up in us since childhood, sorry for the big word but this is how my feeling of insecurity in regards of money showed up this morning. Then m’y grandMa appeared, I felt this feeling from her very young, and thought it was mine…. We had the chance to clean this up this morning, and we now both know that flowers grows in shit 🌹 a rose bush is growing in what use to be a paralyzing feeling that I always tried to make sens with, but I had to go deep in me, at the base in my intestin to feel it deeply to realize that it was not mine. Thank you ❤
Hi Max. Third time lucky, through one thing and another I had completely fallen asleep on two previous occasions during the meditation, busy time of year I guess. Tonight I remained conscious. I was in a log cabin in a luscious, underground ravine. I had dreamt of the ravine before and seen it again in another mediation from two other perspectives or places in the ravine. The log cabin has books, a stove, a pine table and four chairs. The floor isn’t perfectly clean, there is some soil but overall it is habitable and free from any modern devices. An older woman in her 60’s appeared. I discovered her to be a manifestation of my maternal grandmother who passed away just before my 18th birthday, 26 years ago. She urged me to find the fearlessness of my early childhood. She said that love always conquers fear but to conquer fear first and then allow love in would result in a stronger more meaningful understanding of faithful love. She was pleased to see me and hugged me, she told me she was proud of me despite my mistakes, setbacks and foolishness in the past, she said she always knew my journey would be a difficult one before presenting me with a large heavy golden key on a dark red cushion. I asked her where the door is that the key opens but she told me it would appear when I had done all that I needed to do. Be fearless and faithful and it will appear.
Finally, a real guy, and not some creepy AI nonsense. He sounds very sincere to me, which already helps me to listen and focus on this important and delicate issue that I've been trying to explore for a while.

I would like to express my gratitude for this lesson in active imagination. Jürg
You're welcome Jürg... thank you for the support and well done for diving deep.
In the first minute of the video, i thought this wouldn’t work for me. But as i carried on and let my imagination bring up whatever came to my mind without judging it, i found buried treasure the deeper the submarine went, along with different creatures swimming alongside the submarine following my decent. As i approached the ocean floor i noticed a rather large sea-like creature tinted in shadows with dark red eyes that was far bigger than the submarine itself. It remained hidden from plain sight but continued to move in the shadows, as if it was avoiding its features to be seen by the light. As the submarine came to the pit of its journey, i saw a kind of vault half sunken into the ocean floor. I became frustrated wondering why nothing was coming to mind as to what might be locked inside, when suddenly my mind started to convince me this is where my child-like qualities had been kept, or rather suppressed for the past 10+ years. The way i used to be boundless in my imagination and authentic in my approach to life. That’s all i’ve got so far. I’ve gotta think about what i saw and process it some more before i blur the lines of what i’d like to have seen versus what was actually seen.
I like listening to you and then diving into active imagination. Thank you
Great work for diving deep. Thank you and you're welcome!
Hi Max, I hope you're doing well. I definitely think active imagination is very beneficial tool (so to speak). I have tried to continue it on in my day to day life. I find it's been a little hard. I can embody the position of the archetypes better so in turn I can facilitate conversation with different parts of myself more smoothly. I have discovered I am a clever person in trying to outsmart myself back to square one with progress. I know it's a contradiction but I feel like I have taken responsibility for my mind. I work so hard but achieve so little. I know this can't be true (taking responsibility), though, because how can I take responsibility for my mind when my mind is the very same thing that I am constantly having to call out? At this rate, how can I ever make significant headway? Have a good week Max!
You raise a great point SleepyLee about the mind taking responsibility is the same being taken responsibility for. This presents unavoidable challenges. The moment "you" try to make something happen a duality is set up. This is how it has to be. The Fool card from the tarot hints at this. We must trip ourselves up before reconciling with ourselves. There is contradiction at every turn, and also non-contradiction, and that's OK. But also not OK. Wanting to "achieve" something inexorably sets up a shadow. Not trying to achieve something brings about its own results. There is no single solution and wanting one contains its own problems. Then again, "man needs difficulties," as Jung said, "they are necessary for health." Taking responsibility for the mind is about understanding the nature and workings of mind and changing our relationship to it. There's no way around the need for an ego because an ego is simply the directed sense of 'I' that must go out and encounter the world for anything to be known. Whenever there is a mismatch between what we set out to do and what we end up doing, it is pointing to an inner conflict. In such situations it can be beneficial to enquire into what is the motivation and benefit behind what the ego deems as undesirable. Is there something in it that we secretly want and need? This is about acknowledging and embracing duality. In one way, *not* taking responsibility for the mind is equivalent to denying duality. These are a few thoughts that came up... feel free to let me know if it resonates.

I had a goal in mind but it was like the subconscious took me where it wanted to go. In this case the bottom of a lake where there was an underwater cave. In the cave was a little girl. She was wet and cold like she had been abandoned there. I hugged her and dried her off. She had a silk scarf with her that had purple tulips and orange butterflies on it. That felt important. As I talked to her she looked healthier and happer, she told me her name was Lila.
If you’re an atheist, can not say evil exists. Evil is undefined since its not objective. And because its subjective you would have no issue with someone doing horrible things because he used the processes that you used to come up with an answer. Therefore you just have to let him do what wants. Plus your morality isn’t enforceable, again both had the same process to come to their solution. Life is pointless without God. I invite you to worship 1 God, doesn’t begit, nor is born, self-sustaining, all-powerful, all-wise. I call you to submission to God to the religion of Al-Islam. To escape that pointless life and know right and wrong objectively.
You have misunderstood, this is not a case for moral relativism. It's precisely about saying that neither a purely subjective nor absolutist approach to morality are sufficient. Welcome to the world of nuance...
@@makeitconsciousso you are questioning, whether using morality is the right thing to do or not? I got the argument, but whether you want to use morality or not, how do you use something you don’t know? You don’t know exactly what morality is, so bother questioning to always using it or not?
No, I am not questioning whether morality is the 'right' thing to do or not. That would be a moral statement in itself. Let me bring it back to the point. Neither a purely subjective nor absolutist approach to morality are sufficient. You appear to be defining morality from an absolutist perspective and talking about it in fixed terms, hence I think our point of confusion. Postulating a fixed morality is not the same as 'knowing morality.' And not subscribing to an absolute morality does not automatically mean that someone has no morality or is an atheist or moral relativist. Life is paradoxical, nuanced, complex... it requires us to hold the tension of apparent opposites if we are to truly 'know' the truth that underpins them. This, in my experience, is how to know God.
"If we act as though there isn't [a morality]; things are horribly wrong" (31:15 )... I suppose you're mistaken. Also, using grafitti as an example for what is wrong in the world?! lmao
Feel free to share your reasoning. I won't bite.
@makeitconscious There seems to be an obvious contradiction in your statement...
Feel free to share when you perceive a contradiction...
@@makeitconscious Claiming things are horribly wrong when living without morals is an inherently moral statement
Who said I wasn't making a moral statement?
Why in Georgian?
Well spotted. I am learning Georgian at the moment and have this book by Jung in Georgian. Still a way from being able to easily read it though.
The shadow and the non-shadow sides are beautifully and frustratingly well designed. Thanks for the video and I hope you have good week Max.
They certainly are! Direct parallels of each other. Thank you SleepyLee and glad you liked the video. Have a good week too :)
Change is continuous.
It certainly is!

this was interesting, i always thought i had good visualisation skills but it felt like there was a constant stutter in the flow between scenes of imagery and i couldn’t hold onto a sustained image for very long… they kept overlapping. i saw plenty of things that gave me anxiety: the submarine at first bobbing up and down in the water i was already afraid of being jump scared by something, then imagery of sharks and laughing mermaids who made me feel mocked and threatened appeared followed by a large face made of sand that consumed me but it was like an apparition because my submarine was able to just pass through… then when i reached the bottom i couldn’t stop imagining myself swimming outside of the submarine which i really didn’t want to do (i have an immense fear of the ocean in my daily life) and finding a pool on the bottom of the ocean which looked like it was reflecting the moon???? and then i got overlapping imagery of a statue of a king, a tomb-like entrance to a hidden sea cove and then you guided me back to my submarine thankfully and i couldn’t imagine the swim back, i could only imagine myself opening my eyes to find myself back in the submarine again like i hadn’t ever left it 😮💨 phew! i’ll probably have to keep practicing this until my anxiety lowers or something… still a great exercise though, thank you!!!
I was standing in a high open space like a valley with green grass, flowers and a bunch of trees. From the top view I could see the Sea. I sat there with my legs crossed, enjoying the sun. The figure I saw coming was a Red Fox. It was coming towards me not afraid but maybe a Little suspicious. When It came near me, I saw It was playfull and calm. It had a square diamond shaped symbol between her eyes. I was happy to play with the animal but I saw It like biting me (not hurting me) like cats and dogs do in a play way. Answers: 1- Stuck ; 2- you are covered with fog; 3- the fierce and proud look of someone Who knows herself; 4- the way you perceive yourself; 5- the Power in your Heart hands and voice - clarity of thought. The gift I received was a tiny and shiny brass round bell. The Red Fox continued to ask cuddles then It left as It came.

My seed was dark brown and pitted on one side like a dented chestnut but smooth on the reverse with a seam running up the middle on the pitted side. Slightly pointed at one end, not dissimilar to the reverse heart shape Samsara described. I had intended to have a recent dream of a horse that left a herd to come to stand beside me, a beautiful dream filled with love as a focus of the exercise but was instead confronted with something akin to the demonic version of myself - coarse, bored, threatening, ultra masculine, aggressive and tough willed - in a word, dangerous. This version of me told me he was sick and tired of me not taking necessary and even small risks, bored of my inauthenticity and demanded I dig a deeper hole in the soil getting my hands dirty to plant the seed “properly and make the fxxxing effort”. When I planted the seed; a perfectly straight, thin but lusciously green and very leafy tree grew to about four feet high (it resembled the very leafy parts of a stick of celery if that makes sense). This shadow figure proclaimed as the tree grew “you see what great things we can do when we work together, you need me and my courage and I want to help you but if you keep boring me with your lack of authenticity I’ll do things to remind you I’m in here” and I noticed they also had grown taller and more muscular as well but also behaving more as an advisor or older sibling than as threateningly or unhinged as before but still using quite coarse terminology such as, “you need to grab life by the balls” for example.
Hey Chris, this is great. Excellent effort. The seed seems to imply duality, which then also shows up in you vs. the daemonic figure. Some might call this a shadow figure but I think the way you describe might be more precise in this situation, as a demonic version of yourself. It’s like an excessive or power-driven version of certain qualities you already hold consciously. All qualities have both light and dark aspects after all. Does that resonate with you, or would you say it was more an ‘opposite’ to how you like to show up? The seed here seems to represent the duality of light and dangerous manifestations of a single energy, rather than opposite qualities per se. Often it’s not only our opposites that arouse fear, but the very power and danger contained within our primary conscious stance. Which, in a curious turn, to wield constructively we need to reconcile with the shadow or opposite, since that is the thing left behind. Going back to the dream briefly. The horse leaving the herd to stand beside you seems symbolic of the drive for freedom, of breaking free of the expectations of others. It’s very possible this comes from the same place. But the power driven themes of the AI experience point to a resistance to some aspect, likely to the very devilish drive you need in order to attain true freedom. The key here is not to submit to it per se, but to reconcile with it and wield it consciously. In doing so it can retain its practicality but shake off its ‘demonic’ configuration. It sounds like nonetheless the outcome was a productive one. The tree has many symbolic connotations but for one it is a feminine symbol, of earth’s natural bounty and generosity. In the tarot The Devil is associated with the element of earth which is in itself, technically, feminine. I still wonder where this feminine aspect fits in to the overall dynamic. This figure is certainly having some very stern words with you that would not look out of place in Jung’s Red Book. He is still under it all trying to move the relationship to a place of collaboration, rather than either of you having dominion over each other or anyone. That might be the thing to continue working on. Can you deepen a relationship with this part of you to the point of neither resisting its power nor trying to overcome it?
@ I have been known to have perfectly honed drive in some areas of my life which has led to success (eg musical ability, work, reading Jungian and other psychology books, becoming sober and substance free and getting physically fit again in the last year and half) but lack courage in others - most painfully, in romantic endeavours where I can experience fear of expressing my feelings and appropriately using my masculine energies; particularly in times of conflict resulting in undesired outcomes (ie being the patient “nice guy” then suddenly becoming angry and verbally sharp tongued), so this demon is not a total stranger to me at all in my conscious life and I see the message being conveyed as one of utilising these energies appropriately such as having clear boundaries and a clear vision of my own needs to begin with. The need to harness this side of me is a large driver for my inner work. Based on Robert Moore’s lectures and “King, Warrior Magician, Lover” Co written with Douglas Gillette, I have in a practical way tried to harness this masculine energy by taking up Archery in an overwhelmingly male (ex military men for example) dominated club and weight training in efforts to harness a more disciplined and useful form of the “Warrior” archetype. Synchronously, I found an old chestnut in my house this morning that my ex and I had collected, hidden behind a picture on a window sill, it has indeed become slightly pitted and has a seam up the middle! I could hardly believe it as the relevance of the connection between the seed and the demonic figure - the playing out of those behaviours within that relationship was unbelievably painful to my own best interests and desires, through a failure to harness and to wield those more honourable warrior archetype energies. As for the dream I had intended to focus on, I had it a couple of months ago but it has stuck as it was a beautiful dream full of feelings of love. The start of the dream was like a forest park, there were small yappy dogs with owners who were all women but not very pleasant people. I walked over a very small narrow stone foot bridge that was only about three foot long and entered into a kind of clearing covered in leaves where there were no dogs and no people, totally silent, it seemed like they had all vanished. Suddenly a large herd of brown horses stampeded past me and I observed with awe their muscles and power. As I was standing there, one of the horses left the herd and calmly came over to me. It had a strongly feminine energy and I knew it had chosen me, I was rubbing its forehead and it almost seemed to be smiling back at me. Even as I dreamt I felt it was a representation of pure, unconditional love and as if the horse contained the soul of something like what James Hollis might call the Magical Other. Is this maybe some container for my Anima or a projection of desire for love in this way?
I dont understand how people bring these symbols or images to life so quickly. My imagination is completely barren. Any ideas to fertilize it?
Thanks for asking the question Frederick! And great job for persevering... the best advice is to keep going. And secondly to relax all expectations. In truth the unconscious comes to life on its own, we just need to set the conditions and make space for it. Even if images are not forthcoming there is always something to learn from the experience. Rest assured your imagination is there and fertile ground, it just needs a bit of space and time. If you haven't seen it yet, I recommend checking out the Beyond the Limen series which is a seven part playlist designed to ground you in the practice. I am sure that if you complete the series you will make progress. You can check out Beyond the Limen here: ruclips.net/p/PLeuFwuWK5O2OvmSpHOqOPlcOQJUnHcZZa&si=gbNWfoRfIfAFgfy_ Feel free to ask any more questions as you go or share your experiences 🌟🔥
Thank you.
Thank you Laura!
Time and space are functions of ones conceptual scheme, consciousness is the fundamental reality

eros energy .. need to look into this :) thanks!
Hey Abbas, you might like to check out the MiC Philosophy course as well. I'll be sharing more on these ideas in and outside of the KYP ;)
"Difficulties" and "challenges" are very different things. Challenges are chosen voluntarily. Difficulties are not.
You raise an interesting challenge.
@@makeitconsciousI have enough difficulties in life, and no desire for any challanges.
Lol, Max! I think your dog had something to say and you took the tablet from him/her! 🤣 As a pisces (ironically March 12 to be exact), I'm looking forward to and not looking forward to the Age of Aquarius🤣. I know the two are different (ages) but they are also ultimately the same 🤷 The difference is simply refocused. The feeling of the unfamiliar or the unknown has always been something I've always felt very strongly about. It's because if you can't tolerate or handle that feeling, you are cheating yourself of the full experience that life has to offer. In fact, a lot of people will lash out at what they don't understand. Instead of sitting with it and allowing it to be known "hey I don't know what this is, it is new to me" people mostly ignore it or act aggressively. And that's sad because there are a lot of really good things and people they miss out on. There is a difference in danger from an unknown risky situation and just being scared of the unknown. I sometimes think there is some form of a third consciousness. All of what you said makes sense but I do believe that there is some other type of consciousness that is unaccounted/unexplained as of yet. Really, you can't blame people for being so confused when, if you take into consideration not only your own leaky unconscious elements but the conscious/unconscious influences, motivations, and drives of the world around you. Anyways, thanks for the video, very educational! Also, can the dog have your tablet back? lol
Lol, I wasn't sure what the dog reference was to until I went back and re-watched. I actually cannot say if that was my notebook squeaking or a an actual dog outside (plausible!). That's interesting to know you were born March 12th. That would make you a Numerological Type Ten/One in the Taroscopic / divination system I use. Making a mental note not to mess with you. Would be good to take a look at your Tarot Birth Chart. I wouldn't say the two ages are the same per se but the same themes play out on all scales. Even within the Age of Aquarius all symbols are still at play. The transition is also gradual and there is no universally agreed upon crossover date. But it's fair to say the transition is well underway. They are the defining features and trends of our world today. I agree with you that the amount of resistance to the unknown in our world, and the insistence on doing things 'the way they are done,' is simply untenable and is breaking apart before our eyes. The idea of a third type of consciousness is intriguing. Are you talking about God, spirit, or something along those lines? Thanks Sleepy Lee and glad you liked the video 😄🌟🔥....🐟🐟
@@makeitconscious I'm going to eventually order one (birth chart) off your website. I'm just waiting for a time in the next few weeks for it to calm down. So are 10/1's tyrants? lol As far as the third consciousness... It would take quite a bit for me to explain my thoughts on it. So, no dog? Dang. Maybe you have a ghost dog? 🤣
Sounds good... some 'Ones' certainly are tyrants. Like all types they are capable of great good and great evil, in their own kind of way... Maybe I do have a ghost dog and just didn't realise it until now. I would not be surprised with the number of strays around here. Perhaps I should check under the floorboards... 😬😩
