There are peak moments in life soundtracked by perfect songs. On the new highway between Merida and Cancun in Mexico, we had exactly 2hrs to make our flight. Driving a massive Jeep, pedal to the metal, foot to the floor, I summoned up total concentration as we hurtled down the highway. My wife was DJ, playing one classic after after another, as I pushed the Jeep harder and harder. "I.C. Water' by Psychic TV, 120 kph, 'Acid Tracks' by Phuture, 140 kph. 'Dancing Ghosts' by Chris & Cosey, 160kph. The rest of the world was at home with COVID, there were very few cars on the road. Just a 18 wheeler truck or bus or two. We hurtled past them all, our 2 ton monster Jeep gaining speed. My wife said, "are you ready for the greatest song of all time?" And then she dropped this immortal jam. Just thinking about this song gives me the shivers. How can I express the sun flashing through the sun roof, ("WE LOVE YOU!") the wind howling, the mangrove trees blurring into streaks of burning green, ("YEAH YOU!") the feeling of limitless possibility from here to eternity. ("C'MON ON NOW, SHOUT!") We hit 180 kph, top speed on that Grand Wagoneer. Maybe you only feel that alive when you're that close to death. But you don't need speed to get there, Glass Candy does it for you, each and every time.

Can't believe the people behind "Love is in the Air" won that stupid copyright case. Melodically, the songs sound very different. Hell, even lyrically, "Love's in the air" is different from "Love is in the air," and I find it hard to believe they've genuinely got the rights to any phrase referencing love being in the air getting used in a song.

I love this song so deeply. They may have deleted it from platforms, but they will never take our vinyls away. ❤ Chromatics and Glass Candy were both iconic bands and will be in my heart forever. Never had the chance to enjoy Glass Candy live, but I was lucky enough to see Chromatics.
