There was a questions about whether MAC addresses are supported... if the collected records contain the MAC addresses then they will be extracted and provided in the resulting data. I just checked a PCAP of IPFIX records from DE-CIX and the MAC addresses are supported. It is worth pointing out that the source/destination MAC addresses are not the same as the source/destination IPs. The IPs are basically the "endpoints" of a flow, where the MAC addresses are for the "hop" on which the flow was metered. So if traffic is metered at the edge, one or both MACs will be the MAC of an endpoint. However if the traffic is metered along the path, as would be the case for the records from DE-CIX, the MACs will be from the interface on each side of the hop. Whether either is useful will depend on your perspective.

As long as there are only 2 fibers in total, I cant see any issues. But what if this panel is full of fiber connections and one connection should be moved to another position.... is it even possible for a robot to untangle the mess automatically?
