This is Leebo from Lexington, KY and welcome to my channel. I'm a pinball fan that loves to play and (possibly even more) loves to fix, restore and improve vintage pinball machines from the early EM era up to the late '90's model solid state era. I'm constantly learning something new and use this channel to share with other pinheads about my experiences.

I’m so glad you decided to do the cabinet. I know it’s a lot of work, but I think it’s gonna look great.
Thanks! I think it will tie the whole project together.
@@LeebosPinball by the way, don’t let any commenters give you too much guff about refinishing the cabinet. You can always blame me.
@@jason_hundleyhaha!
Amazing! Hilarious!
That’s awesome!!
@@jason_hundley the Pindoc has some skilz! ;-)
@@LeebosPinball definitely a good guy to have on your side.
How did you get the top to open? I am unsure how to move the round metal corner connectors.
Hmm… sorry, I’m not sure what you’re referring to. Can you tell me more specifically what and where you mean? Glad to help; just not sure what you’re referring to.
@@LeebosPinball alright since I commented I got the front bar off and see how we can slide the glass out. Once we do that will it be obvious how to lift the play field up?
@@LeebosPinball my dad and I will probably try removing the glass tomorrow and poking around for release levers to lift the game field if you have any pointers!
@@elizabethpederson4560 ooohhh… ok, now I know what you meant. Sounds like you found the lock bar release; after lifting the lock bar, the glass slides off. It might be a little tight as the channels can get dirty. Once the glass is off, to lift the playfield, there is a latch bar inside the cabinet to pull forward. While pulling that bar forward, lift the playfield. There is then a prop rod to hold it open. Hope that helps. Let me know!
@@LeebosPinball thank you!! I took a screen shot from one of your videos and think I see the release bar inside left hand side. I will give you an update tomorrow! Thanks for posting all of these videos. The score motor is running continuously (same as your video #9 around minute 10). Researching sounds like there are several possibilities why but hoping to figure it out. Then probably should follow all of your cleaning instructions :)
Ya looking really good! You make it look so easy to blend the new paint/clear into the old and I know it is not any easy thing to do! Great job Leebo...looking for the next! I am guessing you will clean up the case a little...I don't remember you working on it for this one?
@@mazzg1966 yeah, matching colors is definitely tricky. The green didn’t match perfect, but reasonably close. I figured that would be the case which is why I decided to repaint that whole green section… just enough separation to other main green areas not to tell much difference. Yeah, stay tuned for the next episode. It may be a little while before it gets posted (I haven’t filmed it yet). But to add to the hint, it is related to some of the cabinet scrubbing work in a much earlier video. ;-) ;-) ;-)
Wow, it looks incredible! What clearcoat did you use. Thanks in advance.
@@ou812grn thanks. It’s a 2 part automotive clear coat. I’ve pinged the PinDoc to see specifically which one but I think it has working time of a few hours once mixed.
@@LeebosPinball, thank you!
Can’t wait!! You and Tyler should definitely keep it for a little while and play the heck out of it. You’ve definitely earned it.
@@jason_hundley oh you just wait! We’re not done quite yet! ;-). And yeah, it definitely still needs the shake down to fine tune switches, saucers, etc…. It’s coming along.
What stencil cutter and material does he use to get such clean and good results?
@@MRNBricks it’s a Cricut cutting machine; not sure which model. Vinyl material and a lightweight cutting mat. Images drawn from photos, letters usually not drawn but similar font found to recreate close to original.
Hey Leebo! Was wondering when the next update was coming...Believe me I know all too well, life gets in the way sometimes and slows things down...not always a bad thing!! Thank you for bringing us along, and looking for the next update! That Attack From Mars was incredible...some serious details going on and the colors were awesome...If a machine in that condition was to hit the market what would its value be?
@@mazzg1966 oh yes, life has been busy! Trying to keep up with the pinball projects along the way. That AFM is pretty incredible. Way more details than what I covered. I should probably showcase his other games. AFM is sort of his holy grail. I doubt he’ll ever sell so hard to put a price on it.
Those plastics turned out perfect! Also nice job on color matching the green.
@@jason_hundley it’s coming along!
Might be stupid, but I have a video idea. Something on how you get your stuff so shiny when buffing. I’ve tried the process I think you’re using with the wheel and the mothers, but it never turns out like that. Guess I need practice!
@@MRNBricks yeah, good suggestion. I’ll do that at some point when I’m going to be buffing again.
Hi, do you have any photos of the playfield when you stripped it down atall, cheers.
Not really. If you look at some of my later episodes, you’ll see it with what I removed, but I basically took footage I used for YT videos and not really too many still photos.
@@LeebosPinball Cheers.
Wow great episode. Color match looks great!
@@AJJ_Bros thanks!
Game is looking sexy...love the attention to detail Leebo!!
@@mazzg1966 Thanks!
Nice. Thanks for the tip on flattening the plastics, any info on how to get rid of 'yellowing' on the clear areas?
There is a trick with soaking the plastics in hydrogen peroxide and ultraviolet light (sunlight works). I tried that once on a spare set of plastics on a Harlem Globtrotters and it worked to lighten the yellowed clear areas, but it also faded all the artwork effectively ruining them. So, I haven’t tried that again. Especially won’t for a game that doesn’t have new plastics available.
Did you make that rotating playfield stand?
@@wardkirkwood2024 no, that came from PinDoc Restorations. Here’s his store on pinside: pinside.com/pinball/shops/shop/1236-pindoc-restorations
It’s looking 👀 soooo good!! Couldn’t be happier.
😆Here I am, watching youtube, watching paint dry. I can't believe how awesome the detail in the lettering came out. Thanks for the video.
@@pezjohnson thanks!!
Looks terrific. Thanks for making the video and showing off the steps.
Glad to. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Looks great. Cleaned up nice! Side question. You know the reason the alcohol works so well is because it’s a solvent to the clear coat, right? It’s taking most of it off when you use it with the eraser.
@@MRNBricks thanks. Yep, aware of the alcohol being a solvent… gotta be careful not to go too far. If so and all the through clear coat, the color would show up on buffing rags.
That’s insane. Awesome place.
Did this mod on my Star Trek TNG, both for GI and Inserts and I couldn't be happier. Some people might call it overdoing it, but man it does look perfect!
I really like adding the OCD boards. It can be a little pricey doing both the GI and controlled LEDs, and the effect is kinda subtle but over a long period of time, it’s so much better having the lights operate smoothly w/o all the flicker.
That board looks great...such a huge improvement from before! Lights are cleaned up nice too!
@@mazzg1966 thanks buddy! This is such a great project. It’s coming along one step at a time. End result should be a really nice game with a LOT of good play ahead.
I was nervous for you. Lol. However… WOW!
@@jason_hundley more to come Guido! We’ll fix that green area later. On to standups and more. Stay tuned.
Looking good. Hitting an 'okay' surface (that you could live with) with the 'wet & dry' takes bravery sir,, well done.👍
Thanks. I think the PinDoc and I will revisit the little green area again. But for the most part, the rest of the playfield looks good to go.
Great results Leebo!! no one will ever know you did anything to the playfield paint!!
It definitely looks a lot better. You can tell if you look for it, but overall way better than big areas of missing paint.
Wow, fantastic! Almost to pretty to go wanging a metal ball around on it. I've used "Tite bond" wood glue skimmed with a credit card to build up with success.
Thanks and good tip on the tite bond.
That looks amazing! Looking forward to seeing how you do the clearcoat, I have a decal I need to put on my Genie and secure with some clearcoat
Thanks! Next episode I’ll show how the clear areas turned out. I’ll video as I do some buffing. New drop targets too in the next video.
I literally stopped the show we were watching when this alert came through so I could watch this video immediately. Lol!
Haha… well, it’s coming along. Aside from the drop target work, next up is going to involve blending out the clear coat from the repaired areas into the rest of the playfield. I’m really happy with how the stenciled area turned out. The lettering looked pretty sweet.
@@LeebosPinball I agree!! Totally pleased.
Were did you get the parts for the play ball
@@jamescrowley6549 most of the parts I bought for this game were from Pinball Resource.
Man, now I need a polishing wheel. Great work.
@@pezjohnson it does wonders. Great tool to have for a lot of metal pinball parts. I also use Mothers Mag and Aluminum polish after polishing on a buffing wheel to further bring out a shine and smoothness (then wipe off residue with rubbing alcohol).
Wow. Nice work on the cab. I would have been afraid the eraser would take it off.
The whole slam! helpful video...thanks Leebo 👍
Great work Leebo!
Sometimes I watch a RUclips video and think to myself, wow this is running a bit long....not the case when I am watching your videos...I think to myself wow it is over already! I could watch an hour long video and not even wonder about the time! Thank you for what you bring to us! I am a contractor and hate when I buy a new utility knife...it looks too new, like I don't work. Your utility knife looks very well broken in and for that I give you much respect! Looking forward to the next video and my first road trip with you!
@@mazzg1966 Thanks a bunch! I try to keep the videos around 10-15 minutes so they don’t get too boring, plus it keeps up with the highlights of what I’m working on. Not only that, but every video I capture and process is on an iPhone and iMovie likes to choke saying I’m low on memory (when I’m far from it). Hopefully in time I’ll have that fixed. ;-). Thanks again for the kind comments!
Hey Leebo thanks for the great video. Did you ever fix your 'Triple Action' ball count problem? I fixed mine with a strip of insulation tape on the Coin Relay armature (it was holding too long). Worked like a charm.
@@chuckufarley5884 very cool tip! The problem mostly went away but on occasion would surface. The owner found another problem in the coin door I missed and I think that may have fixed it. Dunno the details but I think it’s playing fine now. Good tip though; thanks for passing along. I’ll let the owner know.
I can’t wait to see what you all come up with on the playfield artwork.
@@jason_hundley progress has already started! Next video should be interesting.
Thought you were Bill Belichick for a second 😂
@@dce21b59 shhhh… I’m his lost, crazy twin brother addicted to pinball. ;-)
Seems like a pretty wide gap between those 2 inchers.
Yeah, it’s a challenge for sure. There are some games I’ve come across that are just a bit too wide and I prefer a little tighter gap. But, that’s part of it and part of the time period I think. Still a basic yet very fun game.
corrosion and wire chafing can cause that. contact cleaner is usually my go-to to begin with. I agree though, that solenoid is toast
Yep, the coil had a major meltdown.
I remember doing this to mine..hot tip em
Looks good, tried this approach on a high speed.. and I've learnt not to focus on a spot, take long light passes with the magic eraser.
Looking waaaay better Leebo. I'm in construction and have a box of Mr. Clean sponges in my van...gotta have em! Thanks for the video! Happy fourth of July!!
@@mazzg1966 thanks man!!!! Happy July 4th to you too!
Wow! That's a ton of machines!! Thanks for the tour!
Radical. My favorite pin game. My top 3 pins, Radical, Space Station and Junkyard..is it junkyard? with the wrecking ball.
@@Experternas yes, all three great games! That Radical there is quite awesome. The guy that restored it is from Italy; he brought it to the Chicago Pinball Expo last year before it landed at Past Times. The detail involved is nuts. I happen to own a Junk Yard (actually my sons). It’s apparently one of the few early production games that has an electromagnet under the wrecking ball, though I don’t know that the code ever energizes it. Very fun game.
That radical is literally one of the best in the world. It was professionally rated after its restoration by an appraiser. It has the highest rating possible. Even if you are not a fan of the game it is worth checking out.
Yeah, it’s pretty amazing. I particularly liked all the EMs as you don’t often see that many, ESPECIALLY in such good condition. If I lived closer, I’d be there all the time.
They take amazing care of their machines. While they are open to the public thurs-sunday, they are still doing maintenance on the other days. I wish I lived closer as well. I am 75 minutes away, but I still try to drive down once a month. It's a great place to visit even if you are not a big pinball fan.
Wow amazing collection. Road trip!
That’s gonna be fun!!!
This video has inspired me to wear my Leebo’s shirt tomorrow for the Saturday OLoPH tournament
@@BootsORiley Awesome!!! Thanks man
Oh shiiiii, you went to Past Times!!!
