We are getting a USB-C port on the top. I think they will add a second screen, which you can buy separately and put on top, so you can play DS and 3DS games and do other things like that.

But is the successor strategy really a new thing? Nintendo Consols always came in 2, centered around 1 concept. NES, SNES: N64 and Gamecube are centered about the Accessories: Gameboy and Gameboy advanced around the early new era hand helds: Ds and 3DS with their splitscreens : Wii and Wii U around the Motion controller: Switch and Switch 2 around the new era hybrid system. I think it will go like the Ds and 3ds, a direct successor differing by a number in name and adding 1 mid sized gimmic to it. Probely the mouse thing.

randomly got this and another one of your videos in my reccomendations and figured I'd give them a watch. And I enjoyed them quite a bit. Definitely feels like a hidden gem of a channel and hopefully more people end up finding this channel. As for the specific talking points in this video, I figured I'd go over most of the predictions and just give my two cents on them. Connect Button - i think its solid idea kinda reminiscent of streetpass, I think pressing it could also open up a drop down menu where you could click on your friends' icons and message them. Sushi Sleuths - I like the obscure pick with this one but I'm not too sure on it. Rhythm Heaven Encore - This can go 50-50 tbh. Fire Emblem Holy War - I think a new Fire Emblem sounds like a safe bet since Engage was apparently finished long before it actually released Captain Toad Double Dungeon - I feel like a captain toad sequel would probably be a Switch 2 release considering the potential mouse function and would probably be a surprise tie in to a new 3D mario like how the original was. F-Zero 99 Expansion Kit - this is the one I'm doubting the most. While I think updates to F-Zero 99 would be great and a possibility, making a physical release for the game sounds a bit too risky as the game is not only free via NSO but also I don't think Tetris 99 has a physical release either. Maybe if they bundled the physical release with a free year of NSO Expansion Pack that could happen but I'm not too sure. Nintendo Connect Coliseum - I like the idea and I do see Nintendo releasing something similar to this for the Switch 2, I don't know if it would lean into the sports side of things unless it was more game-ified Animal Crossing Sweet Home - I do think a more urban setting is a safe bet for the series as a way to separate itself from New Horizons. Arms 2 - while I would like a new arms I'm not too sure if it'd release in the same year as the switch 2. Maybe for its second or third year Luigi's Mansion 4 - I think its a bit too soon since 2 HD for 4 to release but I'm probably wrong Ganondorf Gauntlet - while I think a new 2D fighter would be an interesting pull, I'm not sure if Nintendo would make one given it having to be compared with Smash Bros by most audiences. Super Mario Discovery - I think a new 3D Mario is a safe bet, and I think having a new villain for it would be a good way of giving it a similar sense of intrigue that Odyssey gave before its launch Golden Sun 1+2 Rising - I think a remake/remaster for this could be possible, I think makeing in HD 2D would be an interesting pull Kirby's Dream Course - I feel like we'd probably get either a new/remastered mainline Kirby rather than a spin off Star Fox Assault HD - I feel like while it would increase the trend of gamecube remasters, I don't know if there'd be a schedule for it. OG Splatoon - as someone who's been with this series since the Wii U...I don't think we'd get a Splatoon 1 port or a trilogy collection. Splatoon as a series is very much focused on online play and revising/improving upon what its already done. Having the old one come back with none of the improvements since then feels like it would just not be received well by most people and if it did have those improvements + new weapons + new stages, it'd probably make more sense instead to release a new game. Wind Waker + Twilight Princess - As much as I'd love to see this, its been such a long time that I wouldn't be surprised if Nintendo just forgot they have these games Wario Ware - I don't think we'd get another WarioWare until 2027, it feels a bit too soon for them to release another. Lastly, I think my main gripe isn't really with the specific games, but with how much there are. This much launched/announced in a single year feels a bit too much to have go down, even for Nintendo. I think outside of what we already know is coming (Mario Kart, Metroid Prime 4, Xenoblade X, & Pokemon Z-A) We'd probably get 3 other new games (a more party focused launch title like you mentioned with Connect Coliseum, 3D Mario, & a big surprise like maybe Arms 2 or a new ip) and 2 ports/remasters from Nintendo.

I'd love a remake of the '94 Donkey Kong game. It's technically the first Mario v donkey Kong and a full remake of the arcade game included. Was such a cool game.

F-Zero NX would have been a PERFECT name for a switch version, since that was the codename. I'm a bit sad that series has been dormant so long because we've lost Wipeout with that studio closure. Sure we have games like FAST Racing Neo/FAST RMX and Redout, but none of those come close to the vibes in Wipeout or the characters and ship design in F-Zero. I hope we get a new one at some point.

Every Nintendo 'innovation' has always been thrown to the side once companies realise no one wants to wave their arms around to play games. Switch and Switch 2 have both focused on expanding playability with a portable system. Its great they're no longer wasting our time.

I'm still confident that 2025 won't be AS big as the launch window for the first Switch since during that time. They we're more in a dire need for the Switch to be a financial hit after the WiiU was considered a flop. So it's why we had such a robust launch in 2017. And with the Switch 2 supporting backwards compatibility, they kinda don't have to worry too much except they'd likely need to remind folks on backwards compatible support quite often. So I expect a small yet substantial launch for the first year. But 2026 will be their big one.

I do hope we still see fresh new IP's from time to time (maybe in the similar boat like Splatoon/ARMS) but without entirely depending on a gimmick. But if this supposive theoretical "Purple Ocean" means we see a return in dormant IP's as well as revitalizing recurring IP's with something fresh while keeping at their core. Then that's fine by me. I don't really mind that the Switch 2 is mostly grounded with control gimmicks, because while it was unique, it means not every game has to be forced with that at times (looking at you Star Fox Zero and Animal Crossing: Amiibo Festival)

Nintendo did what this Video Creator is suggesting with the GameCube(conventional hardware, Innovative Software) and it ended up being one of Nintendo's worst selling consoles.

I don't really see the zig-zag that other people are talkiing about. I've grown up with Nintendo all my life. Nintendo did the next logical thing after the NES came out with the SNES, and DID IT AGAIN with the N64. Nintendo did dozens of iterations of the game boy all the way up to the 3DS XL. Frequently necessitating a break in backwards compatibility. Then they did the GameCube which wasn't a bleeding edge of spec-tech, but it was a lightweight compact portable gaming machine that was great during my college years. Metroid & Wind walker & Animal Crossing crushed it on the Cube. (the Gameboy Advance / GameCube interplay was some of the earliest cross platform gameplay mechanics in existence of which I'm aware.) The curveballs have been the virtual gameboy which sucked (BUT WAS ALSO JUST WAY AHEAD OF ITS TIME). The Wii which was a mixed bag. The controllers were great, but the games were gimmicky and very lackluster, especially the Mii based games, and the console was Hamed stringed by being too obsolesced in terms of performance, but it dominated the kid & casual gamer space despite those drawbacks because it was cheap. The Wii U which was a flop, in part because it clunky and extremely limited as a mobile device, it wasn't clear it was a new console (with all the peripherals Nintendo put out for the Wiii), and it was expensive for what it was, but it was also a logical bridge to the SWITCH, which was almost a perfect unification of everything Nintendo has ever done basically "winning the console wars" by being every gamer's plus one, and Nintendo gamers preferred gaming device. (Even though there is an entire ecosystem of console and mobile device makers now, and not just the big 3.) Also, there is room for Nintendo to zig/zag with Switch 2. They could make the Nintendo device a controller for RC toys they make or license. They could have different kinds of performance enhancement docks that suitable to upsale to 4k, or 8k, or whatever else comes out in the future. They could make social robots again that connect with it. As long as the core of the switch 2 is a solid handheld device Nintendo could do all kinds of imagineering stuff with it. But at the same time, a lot of those things will be "niche" markets for different demographic customers with differing playstyles and interests. The main device needs to be suitable and affordable entry point for everyone with a long potential shelf-life for Nintendo and other companies to maximize the device's potential.

I think the Nintendo Switch 2 logo is busy, cluttered, ugly and silly looking. Personally I think the logo should be closer to Play Station, and just be NS2, but maybe that's too copycat. Also the Bezel is ugly and is definitely a downgrade from the Oled model and is the #1 reason I'm not excited about buying this system. The original Switch is more beautiful to me.
