THIS WORKED FOR ME! I’m a 48-year-old male from the UK. I developed what I soon realised was vertigo on a Friday evening whilst laying in bed. It was horrific, spinning followed by vomiting more spinning and vomiting. I’ve never felt so out of control in all my life, completely debilitating and exhausting. This went on all weekend until on the Sunday when I was able to sit down and have a look at some RUclips info on the condition , I found the Epley manoeuvre and gave it a go immediately twice on the right side with no obvious effects and then once on the left. As soon as I rolled my head over I could feel the spinning and my wife said that my eyes were twitching like mad, I just managed to control it so I wasn’t sick. I went through the manoeuvre holding for 60 seconds in the 3 positions, until I eventually set up. I still felt terrible and it didn’t immediately stop the nausea side of the condition so I went to bed sat up slightly. I woke up at 2 o’clock in the morning for the first time without the room swimming in four days I could’ve cried! I rolled over where I would normally have been back in a flat spin. I went straight back to sleep and woke up like nothing had ever happened. Thank Goodness, my relief was insane. I’d encourage anyone to give it a try.

hello sir, i am a little confused here. so reffered pain is located far and radiating is also located at reffered site? is it? also why at times pain is only reffered and why at times it is also present at the original location? hoping to get my answer soon

Hello 👋 I think the referred pain is the pain in an area that has no nerve connection with the original site of the problem While radiating pain has nerves that connect the area of pain with another area

My symptoms are the ball of foot and all 5 toes in both feet seem to have "thicken skin" feeling to those areas, and just like what others who have this condition say "bunched up sock" sensation, BUT there's no pain at all and it's been 3 months now. I'm wondering if I have metatarsalgia? Thanks and just subscribed to your channel.

Now new research has found that many of the side effects attributed to taking a statin could be a result of the nocebo effect. ‘Everyone’s familiar with the placebo effect, which are the potential benefits that you have from the act of taking a medicine,’ he said. ‘The nocebo effect is where you get an actual potential harm really not related to the medicine itself, and we know that this is a significant clinical issue in patients not tolerating statins.’ The research, published in the New England Journal of Medicine on 15 November, examined patients who had previously discontinued statins due to side effects occurring within two weeks of treatment initiation. These patients were then enrolled in a double-blind, three-group, n-of-1 trial. Patients were each given four bottles of: • atorvastatin 20 mg to take on a daily basis • a placebo pill to take on a daily basis • no medication. Each bottle was to be used for a one-month period according to a random sequence. Participants were then asked to report symptom intensity daily on a smartphone application, ranging from zero (no symptoms) to 100 (worst imaginable). A total of 60 patients underwent randomisation, with 49 completing all 12 months of the trial. Twenty-four patients stopped taking tablets for at least one month of the trial, citing intolerable side-effects, amounting to a total of 71 stoppages. Of those 71 stoppages, 31 occurred during placebo months and 40 during statin months. The mean symptom intensity among all 60 patients was: • eight during no-medication months • 15.4 during placebo months • 16.3 during statin months. These findings did not surprise Associate Professor Stub. A significant proportion of trial participants reported side effects when taking statins, and he says that is ‘a very real phenomenon’. ‘What was fascinating was that the placebo arm had very similar proportion [of people experiencing side effects],’ he said. ‘And so what’s very clear from this trial, and from previous studies, is that patient side effects are real. The true incidence of myopathy associated with the use of statins remains unknown. In general, the risk of developing a statin myopathy is low (one in 10,000-20,000 persons per year), and rhabdomyolysis is extremely rare. The mechanisms underlying statin-induced myotoxicity are still unclear. Experimental studies suggest injury to muscle membrane systems with ultrastructural changes involving mitochondria and sarcoplasmic reticulum; there is also evidence of a statin-induced increase of cytosolic Ca 2+ , resulting in progressive necrosis of muscle fibers (reviewed in [2 ,4]). Recent in vitro and in vivo studies point to the depletion of downstream isoprenoid intermediaries involved in the posttranslational isoprenylation of several muscle membrane proteins, leading to impaired intracellular trafficking, signaling, and protein synthesis in muscle fibers and to the induction of apoptosis [14] (reviewed in [4,15]). Statins may also negatively affect selenoprotein synthesis or can impair dolichol-mediated N-glycosylation of cell surface proteins, interfering with the response of muscle to growth factors (reviewed in [4,15]). In addition, statin-induced myopathy has been associated with mitochondrial dysfunction; coenzyme Q10 depletion is a possible predisposing factor for myotoxicity, particularly in the elderly [16].

I was put on statins 20 years ago because of high cholesterol and a family history of heart attack and stroke. 10 years ago I started having bad muscle ache in my legs to the point where I could only walk short distances at a time without having to sit down. The doctor kept saying it was the statins and changed them. However the pain got worse and eventually I was referred to a vascular surgeon and I was diagnosed with peripheral arterial disease with intermittent claudication, so don't always assume muscle pain is the result of statins.
